  1. Awesome morning at the Camel on 2/10. Cliffhanger was the runbof the day, ungroomed with soft natural bumps. Also enjoyed the soft ungroomed conditions on Rocket (chunkier snow here) and Lower Cleopatra. They should leave Cliff like this more often.
  2. Don't take the kids to CB much as they don't let me use the PS&R cars and PA 5th grade Ski Passport together. And don't tend to eat a real meal at a ski resort unless with kids. And often brown bag with them. Snacks and drinks.
  3. Expert tip: the store and vending machines in the slopeside hotel are much better food and beverage deals than the ski lodge.
  4. Might hit it tomorrow. Either there or the Camel.
  5. If I move to be closer to skiing when I retire, it will not be to somewhere in PA :-)
  6. Probably no just the CO trip with my girls. But also hitting Sunday River 3rd weekend of April as I have a work trip up that way
  7. Work on the album has caused me to miss some days it is true. But I am still pacing ahead of my personal best skison last year.
  8. Number of days I have not gone skiing this year when I would have gone if I had a pass = 0 If I have the time and weather and conditions warrant it, I go. I'd go more if I lived an hour closer for sure.
  9. Nice day 13 runs with kids doing every trail here and going back for seconds on Bushkill, Country Club, Delaware and Renegade. A bit slick and no coverage in trees.
  10. Kids voted for sleeping in and hitting Shawnee
  11. If kids and I get out early tomorrow, Blue. If we sleep in, Shawnee.
  12. Awesome, one of those will be good for me and my two girls to ski on presidents weekend, when my PS&R cards are blacked out.
  13. Because it is at least as far as 4 places I would rather go. Unless I get a free ticket or they get hit with a dump that misses PA, I would not bother. Also omitted Spring, Bear Creek, Big Boulder, Campgaw, Big Bear - though I am more likely to hit Big Bear as I have free tix for 3 on my PS&R cards.
  14. My ski distances on weekend mornings with no snow to day trip able mountains 1:30 Shawnee 1:40 Blue or Camelback 1:55 Frost 2:15 Montage 2:45 Elk (very rare I bother) 2:50 Hunter 3:00 Belleayre or Windham 3:20 Plattekill Anywhere further I am getting a hotel
  15. Yeah they get some. Not as much as Frost, about the same as Blue. Trees covered at Frost?
  16. If I were to do a pass (which is possible as next year my kids will be too old for 5th Grade PA Ski Passport) it would be the Peak pass, and it would get me to take a lot more trips to Hunter and Mt. Snow.
  17. Anyone been to Shawnee lately? Trees left of Delaware and elsewhere skiable? Thinking of heading there tomorrow
  18. To me the main things Blue has on CB are more trees and bumps. Main thing CB has on Blue is easier to avoid lines. Also generally find a friendlier vibe at CB. I agree Nile is pretty much like Paradise (minus ski slow warnings) and Cliffhanger like Razor/Challenge (though I prefer thst it curves a bit instead of being a straight shot, and don't miss the longer runout at Blue). I believe the headwall on Hump/Asp/Rocket/Marge are actually steeper than Cliffhanger, as well as narrower. But the steep doesn't last as long.
  19. Interesting, wonder why it doesn't here
  20. Does the map load for you?
  21. Interesting that Spring's new Web site eliminates the trail map. I have never seen a ski hill Web site without the trail map. Also their trail count seems to have eliminated the "double black diamond" Plummet (no snow making so it was almost never open, some years not at all).
  22. Actually we have more than 3 backpacks. Only 3 of them fit the personal item definition. Thanks for your interest
  23. I have 3 personal item size backpacks. We have flown budget airlines before :-)
  24. Or maybe get them some tix to go tubing right next to our hotel for a couple hours
