  1. Yep, got to the back of dining area (by restrooms) and make a left. I an at window facing mountain
  2. Did 7 runs off Steve then 3 on other side. Enjoying coffee spiked with hot cocoa in lodge ad fingers were nippy Sporting black face mask today.
  3. Heading to CB today. You gonna be there SA?
  4. Turns out they closed that trail now. It was called pipe line. It was their one double black. Kind of like Floyd's at JF. Fairly narrow with a nice headwall, a curve, and a runout.
  5. One trail with any excitement. Lifts bite. Crowded, mostly with boarders. Went there some when I lived 45 min away, but even then I would often go to the smaller Hidden Valley across the street instead.
  6. I have 3 of them so I am good for 3 days each at CB, Blue, JF and Shawnee. I also have one other CB ticket. Pretty much covered for PA skiing this year other than holiday weekend blackouts.
  7. Already got tix for 4 more days at CB so I am good but thanks.
  8. Thanks. Do you know if CB or anywhere else escaped the FR?
  9. What kind of precipitation did Blue get today? All ice by me.
  10. Wonder if it will be worth going out there March 24-28. So far it seems they have gotten about as much snow as my driveway this season. If I go the plan would be to fly to Denver and ski the front range with my kids over their spring break, a first time for them. CO has a 5th graders ski free deal and I have a bunch of extra Frontier miles, but gotta wait and see what happens with this drought before I book.
  11. Y'all are maniacs. Yesterday was ski2die of hypothermia weather.
  12. I am thinking it will be too damn cold to take the kids skiing tomorrow
  13. Makes sense. Westfield is at least an hour closer than I am.
  14. 4.5 hours starting from where? Thought it was further than that, at least from me in central NJ.
  15. Gondola opened last weekend. Perfect weather for it.
  16. They only let them on the slopes a few times a week, so if you want to see it look into that first. Friday and Sunday PM are 2 of the times I think.
  17. An airboard is an inflatable sled they rent out to let folks go down slopes with at montage
  18. So here was my technique for advancing kids on steeps. They started out real tentative, mostly going from one side of the trail to the other and only deacending a little each time. Then I explained to them that since there was a flat after each steep, once they got part way down the steep they could "let it rip" straight down and slow themselves on the flat. They started on each steep asking me when they could "let it rip" and proceeding down with complete confidence once I told them it was ok. As the next step, I suggested they use their own judgement as to when it was OK to "let it rip" and they started doing that. Then I explained they could "let it rip" from higher up on the steep if, instead of just going straight down, they switch their weight from ski to ski while going straight down. So they could make small esses, but not the trail wide traverses they had been doing before. And soon they were doing it on a double black. Pretty good progress for two 10 year olds on one cold day.
  19. Told them just being brave enough to try it made them better skiers than one of my main ski buddies (or their mom).
  20. Made it down Smoke. One fell once and got herself up.
  21. Doing a 2nd Montage day, since our hotel was 3 miles away and we woke to see at least 2" of fresh had landed last night (and is still coming down) on top of the nice surface from yesterday. Bomus that virtually nobody is tracking it up. Long Haul is running and serving the least tracked up run. Conditions are so nice I may take my girls on one of the double blacks (Smoke) today, which would be a first for them.
  22. Like being tackled by a bullet train. Would like to be able to take kids on a green trail without us having to outrun sledding tacklers gunning straight down a hill with no turns or control.
  23. Switched to contacts for ski days myself this season
