  1. Double bonus. Gain Sidewinder as a ski trail and ship some boarders off to other mountains.
  2. I don't understand what 40 years marks. There has been a ski resort there more than 40 years and it has been called Blue less than 40, as it was still Little Gap when I first went there in the early 80s
  3. New map shows that the Gondola goes to the highest point on the Mt right by the Tomahawk lift and they build a skier bridge over the road for a new TTB trail. Makes the Mt more unified and should be nice. If nothing else you can go direct to Tomahawk side on fast gondola now instead of having to ride a couple slow lifts to get there, and should reduce lines on other lifts.
  4. If they get TTB open at Boulder next weekend I will hit it if it is the only action in PA unless Catskill puts up something much more interesting. If third trail is a parallel mini run at the bottom I will not bother on a kid free weekend. Sick daughter kept us in this weekend.
  5. Freedom opening confirmed for 3
  6. Yeah lower parking lot at CB is a dream, and the double and triple lifts almost always let you avoid the crowds. If I had to pick one Mt in PA to ski based on combination of lines, distance, parking and terrain it would be CB.
  7. Yep 15 cans get you in Sat. Email received. Might bring the kids
  8. Time to stock up on cans of peas
  9. Lift served fixed heel cross country skiing at its finest. (Almost as good a slogan as "like VT skiing but without the drive")
  10. Amy speculation on start of PA skiing
  11. Nice deal. If those PS&R cards do not come through by then, I will bite.
  12. Maybe if there was fresh snow I would go to ski the trees if I had a ticket to use up. I think I have been there twice without kids and the first time was a over 25 years ago. Have been there with the kids many times.
  13. Maybe not, it was a guess. I don't view 250 as a real large amount, and was certainly not making any great claim for it. Main point was that it was the steepest thing there and was not real long.
  14. Shawnee's steepest trail is Renegade up top, but it is about 250' vertical I would guess. There are also somewhat steep trails at the bottom 250'. So if you aim a run right you can hit both but have a long pretty flat descent of 200' between. And getting to Renegade requires using a slow lift and a little hiking (or a fast lift and a good bit more hiking). Has some nice skiable tree areas when they get natural snow. Some of those areas are right off Delaware, which makes that change up more annoying.
  15. What's wrong with MC Nothing if you like park, they converted half of it to park and it's a lot bigger than Boulder, so for that it is the estimate place in the srea. It's probably the most crowded place to ski in the are because it is 45 minutes from the GWB There is only one steep trail there, and it is on the middle mountain who's is the one open the least often. On the main non park Mtn the only TTB lift is the "worst of both worlds" Cabriolet. You have to take your skis off to ride, you stand the whole way and it's not enclosed. It's so annoying that what I live 40 minutes away, I often would go to the much smaller Hidden Valley (no longer open to the public but it is used for seasonal ski racing clinics for kids) half a mile away in preference to MC. Have not been back once since I moved further away. WNEP not a bad deal since my kids like Shawnee still. If I can't get enough PS&R cards I may consider if they are still available at that point. Woukd like to go back to WF especially as I have a friend up there now.
  16. Not expecting to get rich selling cds or SoundCloud files. I am creating the best possible realization of an artistic vision I have been pursuing for 37 years. If we can get better gigs and maybe even a touch of fame as a result, that will be even more awesome. Odds are definitely against my recovering my expenses, but I gotta spend all the money I saved with skiing deals somehow.
  17. Yes there is some risk this way. Ski clubs do get you eligible for other discounts too though. Like Windham usually offers a one time $30 lift ticket to any ski club member, so that pretty much pays for it right there. Cards become available in early November. Probably going to do less skiing this year than previous years as I am on the verge of signing a deal to record a CD of my original material this winter, with a producer who has worked with John, George and Ringo, Clapton, Carly Simon, Garfunkel, etc. We already have a handshake, just negotiating the paper now. So a good chunk of my free time will be devoted to making the most of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Spent Sat night playing him my songs on the guitar George played at Concert for Bangla Desh.
  18. There will reportedly be limited numbers made available to ski clubs. So joining a club gives you an opportunity to get one or more but not a certainty.
  19. Boomer usually has moguls too. Part of what makes for fun variety there. And both seem naturally formed, which I prefer, rather than seeded. I never really ride Long Slow Haul more than once or twice even if it is open. Only bother with it at all if glades at top are open, as otherwise the top is a bore.
  20. Not happy about that PS&R card news. Will have to investigate if they will still be available through clubs.
  21. Or you could, you know, ski somewhere that is fun to ski past 10 am.
  22. One of many priorities. 30 was a personal best blowing away my prior record of 21.
  23. Good for you on hitting 50 though that is awesome Because I don't like driving that far every time and I like changing up where I go regularly. PSAR cards and springing for any Dec or non PA tix works perfect for me.
  24. Single dad every other week and lead a rock band in my free time too. Priorities.
  25. Not a date, but thanks for asking. A night on the town with a friend from school days.
