  1. Sounds like a non issue if you read the story. The MTA owed the money to the state and made the payment in the way the state requsted. It has nothing to do with what size budget the MTA should have. I do support public funding both for subways and for ski areas.
  2. What is the source of that info? As a regular skier who does not ride subways with any regularity it works for me.
  3. I said the terrain was the most challenging. Certainly Blue has more challenging idiots who do not belong on the slopes they are skiing on. Only Hunter really gives it a run for its money there. Agree two passes would be silly.
  4. 4 months and change til PA Skison :-)
  5. That is true, and financial woes could drive a decision to offer a great deal to get your cash early. Not biting on this deal personally as the extra drive means I don't want to hit Montage every time I ski the Poconos, which is what I would need to do to make this a better deal than the Pocono Ski and Ride Cards I use. Also most of their stuff is either too easy or too tough for my kids with only a couple just right single black runs. But wanted to share the info nonetheless.
  6. Gore and Whiteface are also state owned. Plattekill, Hunter and Windham complain. But really only Plattekill suffers IMO, particularly because to get there from the Thruway you have to drive past Belleayre and go another 30+ minutes. As Belleayre gets bigger and better, fewer will do so. But it will never be a threat to Hunter and Windham.
  7. Available July 25 only. Quite a phenomenal deal for the most challenging and least crowded terrain in Eastern PA.
  8. Sounds real. But I am hosting and headlining a 4 band Springsteen tribute in Princeton NJ today instead.
  9. Surprised to see CB is opening a new Alpine slide. Wonder whether they have A. Found a way to limit the speed of these things or B. Lost their lawyer's phone number.
  10. Feel so bummed I spent next to no money on an awesome day and a half skiing at ABasin instead of staying home and mocking me for not spending more $.
  11. Awesome. Still sunburned.
  12. Doesn't really have much impact on where I ski as I have deals available to me so many places (at least 40 places, most of which went unused). I avoid buying a one mountain pass or even a multi mt pass like a Peak Pass because I prefer a lot of variety in where I ski and would not want to, for example, only ski JFBB when in PA, only Hunter when in NY, only Snow when in Vt. Hampton Inn is my choice of most bang for the buck hotel chain. Will almost always check pose one if it is right geographically.
  13. Life gets a lot cheaper for me in the months when biking rather than skiing is my main form of outdoor recreation.
  14. So this season I bought 29 adult tickets and 22 child tickets for a total of 51 tickets for $936 or just over $18 per ticket. Memories = priceless
  15. Borrowed some in the lot to apply on day 2. Too little too late it seems.
  16. Sure got a lot of sun. If you need me I will be applying aloe to my face.
  17. After skiing Sunday we we took a hike around Red Rocks (did not go into see Snoop) and went out to dinner. Did a bunch of hiking on Sat too. Did not do any of the double black stuff. But tried most other stuff there. Zuma bowl, Lenawee face, and the glades runs like Tbolt and Gulch were my favs. Sat was a half day ticket for $47. Sun was $46 as I took advantage of a BOGO deal I was offered. Wound up renting off site because the shop near the hotel offered me demo rentals for Sunday to pick up Sat AM, making it $35 for the whole weekend to rent and the wider skis than what I use in the east were better both for the fresh stuff on sat and the slush later on Sun. Pretty easy weekend trip with no work missed. Expect I will do it again sometime next year if this flight schedule continues.
  18. And another real fine one today, though getting slushy by the end. Bye bye skison, see ya next fall.
  19. Got 10 great runs in in my PM ticket. Day 28 was my best skiing of the year so far, and first non east coast skiing in 10 years. Focused mostly on the glades runs on the bottom part as the air up top was a bit thin for me on day 1, but rode every major lift at least once. Was bummed I only got one run in Zuma bowl as that closed at 315, but did get on the bonus 4:05 express lift to end the day and will be back for more tomorrow. Also enjoyed some hiking and hot tub. Heading back for a full day tomorrow.
  20. I'm in a band called The Beagles
  21. If you had my ex . . . The Beagle has landed at DIA
  22. Figure I will pay the extra $ to rent at AB so if there is any issue with equip they can deal with it there, though I could save some $ doing it closer to hotel. Hope it doesn't kill my reputation.
  23. Never found out his altitude. Moot point now.
  24. Yeah I am happy about the change. It was more my travel mate that wanted to stay with his friend. Less driving works for me. And sleeping at 8k should make it easier to adapt to altitude and get earlier start. Plus paid for hotel with credit card points and has an outdoor hot tub. Already bought my afternoon ticket for Sat before the lodging plan changed. That's fine. Gotta deal with ski rental in AM and not gonna check into hotel before 2 am. Will get an early start on Sunday.
