So the lodging plan changed. Now staying at Georgetown Mountain Inn. Person we were supposed to be visiting has a wife who doesn't care for visitors. Wives are way over rated.

How do I post pix here? Never done it.

7" of fresh snow in last 24 hours and still falling. Did not expect this bonus when I booked plane tix 4 weeks ago. Flying out tonight. Gonna ski Sat pm and all day Sun.
-
Actually spent tonight performing with The Beagles
-
What, no hot cocoa?
-
Ok with doing just PM on day 1 due to altitude adjustment and sleep deprivation considerations.
-
We have a plan. Leave Philly 1030pm, get into Denver at 1. Buddy drives us to Hartsel, I get up Sat and ski A-Basin solo on a PM ticket while he spends Sat sleeping in later and hanging with his bud in Hartsel, then I drive back to Hartsel and spend Sat Night there. My bud and I wake up early Sun, spend whole day skiing A-Basin, then make our way to Denver for 1 am flight home. Days 28 and 29 and I am done for my 5 month season (Nov 25 - April 23). First time I will have topped 21 days.
-
Turns out we are staying in Hertsel not Ft Collins, so I am most likely skiing A-Basin both days. Probably just the afternoon on Sat as we get in at 1 am and won't get to Hertsel til 3:30 AM, then all day Sun.

Bringing boots (splitting one checked bag between two of us for 4 boots). Renting performance skis.

We shall see. Last time I skied out west was 10 years ago and I am better now than I was then. Certainly the most challenging terrain out there was more than I could handle last time. My bud who will ski at least one day with me will not venture past blue out there I am sure.

Breck definitely off the list as they have closed all but 1 peak making it not worth what they charge.
-
Cool thanks for the update. Winter Park looking like a real good option as Barb was kind enough to provide some vouchers :-)
-
In the drop off pick up area by the lot. There is a lot of gear to remember with two kids. Realized it 30 hours later as I was heading into NJ.
-
Cool that SB located my skis 2 days after I left them there and are shipping them to me. Definitely means I will be renting in CO next weekend though.

Yep, Best Western in Waterbury it was. Hot wire deal so I only found out hotel after paying but perfect it was 1/4 mile from Ben and Jerrys. They may be open 16th too, it does not seem they have made the call. But it looks like girls want to end their skison with Sugarbush. Belleayre would not be as good.

Got back from Japan Wed night. Drove up to Waterbury Thurs and did Ben & Jerry's tour. Skied Fri. Hitting six flags New England in the AM. Topped the day (and their season) off with a TTB 2400 vertical foot run, the longest the girls have done. 3 of us spent $62 to ski and $85 for 3.5 star hotel with breakfast :-) Google maps took me across some ridiculous mud mountain road going to I89 that was basically negotiating a mogul run in an auto. Cars had carved the mud like skiers carve the snow. So far no auto damage detected but will get it up on a lift when I get home. Gate house side was hanging on by a thread and needs to close but most of Lincoln was A+ for spring skiing. So what do you recommend for CO next weekend. What will be open, for one?
-
Hitting Lincoln Peak (the open one) for the 14th. Day 27 for me. Day 11 for the girls. Then 6 Flags New England Saturday. Belleayre Sunday not out of the question if weather and conditions warrant it. Next weekend Colorado! (Way to get after it :-)

Enjoyed the mashed potatoes with the kids today. No lines, no crowds so makes sense they are wrapping it up though there is no doubt the conditions would let them persevere a bit longer if they wanted to lose money. Aquatica lot was packed so they were at least making cash there. Last day in PA for the skison. New England and CO will add the gravy to those potatoes later this month.

At CB having big fun.

Nah never go straight down in a tuck, I enjoy making turns. Understand straightaway makes them steeper, but I feel it makes them less of an interesting/scenic adventure. I enjoy a big variety of runs, which is also why I almost never ski the same place twice in a row.
-
Challenge and Razor actually feel shorter to me than some longer vertical trails due to their being a straight shot where you can see the bottom from the top. Makes them less interesting. Also don't love that they are so close to identical unless one is left ungroomed.

Wear that hat skiing and you won't even need to make any turns -
Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?

Windham closing after this weekend and getting some snow today into tonight. I believe I may have some coupons that let kids ski free there on Sundays too. Could be our place to go. Would be their first time skiing in the Catskills. -

Hmm. Might be worth doing a bit more driving then. Windham might suit the kids better than Hunter though. Anything off the top other than Belt Parkway might be a bit much for them at Hunter. -

Wow. Hope there is still some stuff worth skiing Sat / Sun in PA. How far north does one have to go before it is falling as snow?
