Update for closing weekend...

Seeing as how I was just mailed the voucher out of the blue and had to use it or lose it, it did not feel like spending $. -

Yep expect Loveland and Abasin will be my options those days, but I understand Winter Park and Copper, and maybe some others, have yet to rule out being open then. If it is Loveland and Abasin, will most likely do a day at each as I have never been to either. In CO I have been to Steamboat, Vail and Eldora. Also looking forward to getting GSS trip report before deciding. -

Don't know if they fog in rain. Don't ski in the rain. -

Lift price will not dictate where I ski when in Colorado if pricier place gets a dump. Free lodging and almost free flight are awesome though. -

I certainly ski below 10 degrees at times, but I would rather ski somewhere it is 25 than somewhere it is 5 all being equal. Rain is about the only dealbreaker. -

Paying about half as much for a R/T to Denver as folks pay at the window for a weekend lift ticket at Blue -

Not anything I had ever thought about in terms of an order of importance of the factors until GSS asked if I considered them all equally. Doesn't everyone consider all those factors in deciding where to ski? For pass holders I imagine the main difference is thst on any given day they consider price first as it is always a lot cheaper for them to ski where they have a pass than to go somewhere else. And in considering where to buy a pass I expect proximity is a fairly major factor. -

I would say I rate them about as follows 1. Weather (try to avoid rain, high winds or temps below 10). 2-3. Crowds and conditions 4-6. Terrain, price and proximity (but only rarely day trip further than Montage) 7. Lifts Within eastern PA, Blue is clearly among the best for me on Lifts, Terrain and Proximity. At peak times it is the worst on Crowds which can also cause issues with Conditions. Weather and Price vary day to day and deal to deal. -

And I don't see why I am called a Blue hater. It is the place I skied the most this year. I am just not a Blue cheerleader like you. I make an honest appraisal of 7 factors (conditions, weather, crowds, proximity, terrain, lifts, cost) when I decide where to ski each day. -

You are the one that posted a pic of a brown ski trail. That coupled with how much brown was there Sat before the rain raises the likelihood that I opt for CB, Elk or Belleayre this weekend. -
Mountainvertical.com does their own assessments of "true up vertical" that can be skied on commonly skied lift served continuous fall line runs and puts Elk at 1000. That does not mean you get that off a single lift ride.

Maybe they should rename it brownstretch for this weekend -
1000 foot vertical at Elk is verified by at least a couple external sources.

Sounds fun. Didn't stick with it? Beautiful Guitars tnt!
-
Not too many guitars. This will make 7 for me and 1 for each kid. Plus 2 keyboards, a mandolin, and a PA.
-
I'd take Elk over anywhere else in Eastern PA. But not over three places in the Catskills that are 15 minutes further from me.
-
Premier. Nobody seems to have any deluxe ones other than the $7k hand autographed variety. And something like that would be a lot less fun as it would more stay in its case as an investment than be something to use on gigs. There is a 45 day return policy on Premier, so if I found an unsigned Deluxe in that time I might consider upgrading.

Yes, I included that. The amount I actually gave to Blue was only $28 (plus one cocoa) $ saved compared to paying window prices for lift tix this season alone paid for this sweet gem that is getting delivered to me tomorrow. I spend $ when it counts. https://m.facebook.com/DAngelicoNY/photos/a.227676510695155.52820.227668624029277/1156272954502168/?type=3&source=48

Sorry, miscalculated. $64 for 7 Blue tix.
-
Pfft. Total price paid for 7 Blue lift tix this year = $76. Just used them at off peak times when I could spend more time skiing than standing in line. Cliffhanger, Pharaoh and Nile Mile off Stevenson lift.

Nice to see Elk reopening with most of their terrain still in play, including most of their blacks. CB even more open with all their blacks in play and very little closed other than the middle area dominated by terrain parks. Let's see what Blue has to offer for the weekend.
-
Yeah I could get up crazy early to ski Blue on a peak day. Or I could get up at a reasonable time and enjoy skiing almost anywhere else. Winner for a peak day: almost anywhere else.
-
If you aren't a complete ass, then it is incredibly frustrating that people do that.

Closing weekend schedule.

If there is no decent skiing to be had, Sat is opening day at 6 Flags.
