Skiing near Denver April 24-25
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in Other Mountains
Just gonna bring the "personal item" (8x14x18) they let you bring for free and rent ski gear out there. Flying out Friday at 7pm, flying back early Monday red eye. Lightning trip, missing no work, but for $38 plus lift tix, ski rental and half a car rental it will be a fun weekend with my buddies. Wonder if I can wear my helmet onto the plane. -

Frontier from Philly. 50% off sale Mon to Thurs. Flying home 1am Monday so return was half price. At this price, I can deal with well post peak skiing. -

Will probably get a room closer for one night if we decide ski conditions are good enough to warrant spending both our days skiing. Also going to visit a friend in Ft.C. -

$38 cost is cause I had a $100 voucher and friend had a $200 voucher and we got 2 RTs for a total of $338 so I paid the $38 overage. Probably worth it just for the FF miles. Free room in Ft Collins while we are there. Aspen too far. What about Copper, is that a decent late season bet too? -
I know they have had a rough season. Where do folks think will have the best skiing within 2-3 hours of Denver at that time? Got a R/T for $38 with a free place to stay.

6 more payments :-) Are you unaware of the "coffin nails" expression for cigarettes?
-
Closing after Sunday the 26th

Proudly paying less on average per lift ticket than the slow mo suicide crowd pay for their average pack of coffin nails (at least in NYC)

Check out strawberry park hot springs outside town if you go.

Camelback is hoping to stretch the season to mid April http://wnep.com/2017/03/18/ski-resorts-flourish-after-snow-storm/

You think I could get me own late night show with comic material like that?

A fine time with my kids and best buddy today. Snow in the trees was ridiculously deep and powdery to the point that I needed an assist getting my daughters out of there and we stuck to the trails after that. Big props to the patrollers that lent a hand. Worse problems to have than too much snow in late March in PA.

May Day at Blue???? Thoughts.
Ski2Live Live2Ski replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Not a whole lot probably. When they first talked about opening it I lived 5 miles away and I thought it would be a great place to teach my kids without being too cold or far. Now it is 40 trafficy miles away, and it would be small and quite likely mobbed with lousy skiers crashing into eachother. I would check it out as a novelty in bad weather and see what I thought of it, but probably would not want to spend a lot of time there. If my kids wanted to get into ski racing it might be a good place to get them training for that year round. -

In may they announced a deal to bring in Snow Operating to on this as "Big Snow America" - now looking to open fall 2018, also with a water park and theme park there. I take it with a few grains of salt at this point. But more likely to open indoor skiing in an already built structure 10 miles from NYC than at Blue -

They should open the indoor ski area they already built for Xanadu at Meadowlands about a decade ago. -

It is just a shtick. In reality I have a friend who owns a snowboard. He finds it makes eastern hills more interesting since he is not as good on it as he is on skis.
-
Cool! And with video of descent. Too bad it was made by someone standing sideways on a super fat ski.

One could skin up and earn some turns at Belle Mountain in Lambertville today. 190' of vertical still popular with sledders since it closed 20 years ago.

That's why discerning NJ residents ski in NY and PA. When Hidden Valley was public and I lived 40 minutes away, I sometimes went there in preference to the much larger MCreek less than a mile away, on account of HV not sucking as much.

S.T.Bear = Smokey -
To be fair, it is the best ski area open to the public in NJ.

Gonna hit this place again with my kids Sat, using free passes. They got 30" and will be 100% open when they start post storm operation at noon tomorrow. As little traffic as they get, there may well even be some fresh track to be had on Sat. Will make day 24, busting through my earlier 21 day record with at least a couple more weekends to go.
