  1. Others have commented they go to Shawnee as well. But clearly it is mostly a Blue crowd here and not many of you ski with kids. Good place to go with young ones and also the quickest drive for me.
  2. Shawnee has already said they are only committed through this weekend
  3. Sat is the day. Will not be shocked if it is the last many places in PA.
  4. Not at Blue for Sat but it is elsewhere in Poconos
  5. Bummed it is looking like a rainy weekend starting Friday through Tuesday. Maybe a let up on Saturday to get some turns in. Makes April seem a lot less promising and has me wondering if a bunch of PA resorts may throw in the towel on the skison.
  6. CC companies hate me too. Have not paid them any interest in at least 25-30 years. Did a few times as a student.
  7. Yeah I hear you. It will be an exhausting weekend. Schedule was my buddy's idea and I went along. See how it goes. Monday will be rough.
  8. I have deals enough places that I have been able to choose what suits each day best to a tee, depending on factors like road conditions, anticipated crowds, and whether I am skiing with kids (which makes easier places more worth skiing). Not any days this year that I wished I was skiing elsewhere. I woukd say the two main impacts seeking out deals has had on my skiing choices are 1. Getting me to ski more to use up prepaid tix. 2. Getting me to drive further and check out areas I would not otherwise go to. That is a plus too because I enjoy checking out a variety of places more than skiing one place many many times in a season. The one real example of 2 this year was last weekend when I went to Big Bear. It was a perfectly good place to ski with the kids, being 100% open with 30" of fresh snow and no lines at all. But I would gone somewhere closer if we did not have 4 free tix to there. Fortunately one of those free tix went to the person who did the driving :-)
  9. I have bought about 40 lift tickets so far this year for a total that I expect is $500-$600, not having done the math yet. Window price would have been easily $2200. Would that have broken the bank? No. But it is a significant chunk of change to me. It adds up And I enjoy finding deals. Doesn't feel like work to me.
  10. Share a bag is the latest thinking if 4 boots fit in one bag. This is not all planned out thoroughly yet but we have plane tix and I spent $39 :-)
  11. Yep, I am going to travel very light, going for only 2 nights. Done it before. Plan is to pay for one bag each way between two of us to bring our boots. Rent skis there. Can't beat the timing of flights that let me fly out Friday after work and red eye back before Monday. Vacation time now at a premium as I am already taking off 9 days in April, 5 in Aug, 5 in Sept, 3 in Dec.
  12. Yeah, pretty much :-) But I have fun. May well be going right from work to airport via train which adds to hassle of bringing lots of stuff.
  13. Yes I have a boot bag. No I am definitely not bringing skis with me, renting there. Cheaper to rent than to bring the skis on plane and less hassle. Not sure if I am bringing boots or renting there.
  14. From what I read all the major airlines will soon be introducing economy class fares where you pay extra for bags so as to compete better with Frontier et al. Which really makes good sense, otherwise you are effectively making all pay for bags that only some need. Bundling the cost in with the fare does not make it free. I am lucky that I tend to fit well in a wide range of boots. Might consider paying some extra for a boot bag though.
  15. Just gonna bring the "personal item" (8x14x18) they let you bring for free and rent ski gear out there. Flying out Friday at 7pm, flying back early Monday red eye. Lightning trip, missing no work, but for $38 plus lift tix, ski rental and half a car rental it will be a fun weekend with my buddies. Wonder if I can wear my helmet onto the plane.
  16. Yeah my mistake, dates are 22nd and 23rd Now looking to get 26-28 days this season, blowing away my former record of 21.
  17. Frontier from Philly. 50% off sale Mon to Thurs. Flying home 1am Monday so return was half price. At this price, I can deal with well post peak skiing.
  18. Will probably get a room closer for one night if we decide ski conditions are good enough to warrant spending both our days skiing. Also going to visit a friend in Ft.C.
  19. $38 cost is cause I had a $100 voucher and friend had a $200 voucher and we got 2 RTs for a total of $338 so I paid the $38 overage. Probably worth it just for the FF miles. Free room in Ft Collins while we are there. Aspen too far. What about Copper, is that a decent late season bet too?
  20. I know they have had a rough season. Where do folks think will have the best skiing within 2-3 hours of Denver at that time? Got a R/T for $38 with a free place to stay.
  21. 6 more payments :-) Are you unaware of the "coffin nails" expression for cigarettes?
  22. Closing after Sunday the 26th
  23. Proudly paying less on average per lift ticket than the slow mo suicide crowd pay for their average pack of coffin nails (at least in NYC)
  24. Check out strawberry park hot springs outside town if you go.
  25. Camelback is hoping to stretch the season to mid April http://wnep.com/2017/03/18/ski-resorts-flourish-after-snow-storm/
