  1. My kids have been to Disneyland and Disney World. I am just comparing a price of a local place with a water park. Disney is a lot pricier no doubt.
  2. I paid $50 less than that for 3 12 month passes to Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor.
  3. Ouch.
  4. Seems like there is a growing market maintaining tombstones in Jewish cemeteries under the new administration.
  5. And the one run Spring has open looks a lot more covered than it did a few days ago.
  6. Yep my record days is 21. Never had a pass or a home or vacation home within an hour of decent skiing, and I work weeks. So 21 days out for a weekend warrior from NJ is not bad. Not competing with pass holders who live in the shadow of a mountain, just with myself. And not really much of a competition there either, just an incentive to do more of something I love.
  7. Either way I expect to be up March 12 to use my last Blue punch on my PS&R card, which will mean I basically maxed out the 3 cards I got, using 4 of the 5 tix on each (no Big Bear yet, maybe use that with the kids if they are still open on the 18th). P.S. hit a new personal best total vertical for a ski season yesterday at CB, still 2 days shy of matching my record number of days.
  8. Another nice day at CB today. Most of the trails had as good conditions as one could ask for. A few were closed seemingly to save the whales better through tomorrow's rain. They are clearly planning to make a go of it through March. Was a bit disappointed that they have groomed out the bumps on Cleopatra and Uncle Bills Way. Run of the day was Cliffhanger, which I hit at least 6x.
  9. Not real good cocoa. My girls are real slow drinking it, but like it as a warm up treat. If I got them each a full cup I would be drumming my fingers on the table for 45 minutes.
  10. Took a different route home yesterday as I was going to my parents house, so I drove by the famed Sheetz. Unfortunately was not hungry enough to stop after a day of brown bagging and splitting a hot cocoa. Hope I did not break their table by busting out 3 granola bars as we drank the cocoa.
  11. Yep way better than the conditions last weekend at Frost
  12. Having fun out here with the kids now.
  13. At Blue, taking a break after 4 runs with kids. If you see someone in all black skiing with young girls, one with a bright green helmet and one with a dark purple helmet, say hi. We'll be on anything but the double blacks. Much nicer conditions than I had anticipated. Glad they are not blowing snow at us, the winds less bad than forecast, and the lines nonexistent.
  14. Thinking it's going to be a crowded day at Blue tomorrow? It's extra challenging getting out early with the kids so I am thinking it may be better to find somewhere less crowded on weekends.
  15. Whether or not they made the right decision depends on whether the decrease in season pass sales due to this decision is less than the cost of the power and wages saved, as they certainly were not going to show much of a profit being open a rainy weekday in March.
  16. New snowmakers blog is encouraging
  17. Could well be there Sat with kids.
  18. "Even though temperatures are rising, there is still a lot of snow left on the trails and the conditions make for some great skiing and snowboarding! To celebrate, they are kicking off their Mercury Rising Event this week! Lift tickets will be discounted to reflect the forecasted temperature. Every evening, tune in to WFMZ's 10pm news broadcast and visit www.skibluemt.com for the next day's discounts. Depending on the forecasted temperatures, discounts will be: Temperatures in the 30's = 30% off lift tickets Temperatures in the 40's = 40% off lift tickets Temperatures in the 50's = 50% off"
  19. Hunter's west side has 2 runs at about the same level as Plattekill, but there is far less of such terrain there, it gets blown or skied off faster, and there is little that is gladed. Plattekill on a powder day is fairly unique for east coast skiing. And they get more natural snow than other Catskill places.
  20. With good natural snow, which they generally keep ungroomed on expert runs, they have the most challenging skiing one can find south of Adirondaks or VT.
  21. Not great snowmaking. It is a place to go when natural snow warrants it.
  22. Sad to hear. Hope they recover for next season. Love skiing the Northface at Montage.
  23. Was definitely icy at JF today and some bare spots. Floyds was better than the rest. Snow was much better at BB which we hit for latter part of day seeking alternate conditions.
  24. Sounds awesome. But I will ski whatever it is somewhere. Buddy showing up at 6 for early start.
