Huh. Well, that's curious. Rural PA voted for Donal Trump. Yet you think rural PA is now concerned to spend loot.... I'm not disagreeing with you - I know we are spending carefully (I mean, outside of skiing....) and a real reason is concern over the future economic direction of the country. But rural PA was pretty strong GOP.... I still feel like it's just a shift in activities and priorities of school age kids, but who knows....
-
That's interesting....you think people are afraid to spend money right now? Kind of curious since PA was a tipping point for Trump....might think confidence would be high in the area. Personally, I think smaller, non-vacation destination ski resorts are suffering from the over scheduling of high school age children. Kids don't have time to ski anymore. Every club and sport at competitive high schools has become a full time, year round pursuit. Kids are playing soccer 4 seasons, going to debate tourneys every weekend, cross training for their team sports, band practices every weekend, etc... They don't have time to ski.

Maybe we'll give Montage a shot - never been. Maybe lower traffic will equal better conditions on an icy day. Definitely the longest I've gone without hitting Blue once....but not gonna try it on a holiday.
-
What's the vertical on that North Face lift? Given the weather, looks like everyplace is going to be a frozen mess.
-
Thanks Rummy - you think Montage is less crowded than Elk on a holiday?
-
How are the crowds at Elk on MLK weekend? Thinking about heading there Saturday.
-
snowing there now?
-
They are quite different, aren't they? I probably favor FB as well, but it's close.

Just sent a PM. Thanks!

Any rain last night?

Kids want to ski. Sunday works best for schedules. It's gonna be cold. Where should i go?

I'd recommend going to a sports doc as soon as it's convenient. I struggled with some knee pain for the last couple of years. It's now kind of morphed into all sorts of issues on the same leg. Strained hip flexor, sciatica issues, and a tight IT band. The sports doc that I finally went to for the strained hip flexor (pain had become significant enough to threaten a few half marathons I had planned) said the older knee pain, the sciatica, and the flexor all kind of feed on themselves. His advice was, get things checked out early and find the root problem before it mushrooms into more, harder to treat issues.

Since they are sold in 4 packs, I got confuse-ed. Anywho....Will buy a case for $100. Ditto for Focal Banger or Crusher.... Glad to hear Smugs was fun -thinking of adding it to a weekend trip to Stowe later in the season.
-
Ha! - I would be interested at $100- per 24 can case.....
-
Good stuff.... Did you try Beaver Pond or Andres? Seems like they are low enough angle that just a few inches makes them super fun after a freeze. This your last day? Or more tomorrow?
-
Love that place - usually have some Lawsons on tap as well....
-
Winner! Happy for you man. Skiing tomorrow?

Looks like you might have hit jackpot on Jay today....trail map showing a handful of glades open and it's been snowing since 5am..... Yeeeeehaw!!!!!!!

https://www.skibluemt.com/winter-sports/skiing-snowboarding/trail-map/ Trail report says 'Barney's Bumps' are closed. But list upper main street as 'Moguls'. I thought Barney's Bumps were the moguls on upper main street.... Explanations?
-
Supposedly snowing at Jay today....hope it's better up there for you. If you are day tripping, I'd suggest parking on the tram side. Better bar for apres IMO....

We got a condo off VRBO...seemed reasonable - I think it was like $350 a night for a 3 bedroom place... no idea if it will be nice or not....but more affordable. Flights are expensive out west that time though, and we are a family of 4. The other day at Hunter I talked to a guy who drives his RV around NE and Canada. They park it in the remote lots and just sleep in it! Should have rented one of those and parked it at Blue for the holidays! No one would bother us in the Valley near the fish pond construction site...

Be up there over NYE. Not very hopeful about the conditions, but at least they will be all open for some icy groomers.
