  1. ha. Yeah, so true....think way too much about it....
  2. So it's head to head racing....sounds kind of fun. And as soon as you lose, you're done, which is a good thing... I'll talk to her tonight. Was thinking about heading up to elk, but looks like tunk is boilerplate and closed. though Saturday might get warm enough to soften things up.... We'll see.....
  3. yeah, might come to that. Trembalnt also got 16" yesterday, but seems smarter to sped the 8 hours travel time in a plane rather than a car...
  4. Jay>Stowe>MRG or Sugarbush kind of thing. Jay closed all their glades today and said something like "Well, it's a little fast and firm out there, so be careful..." And they are generally optimistic in their reports. Stowe closed all the natural snow trails, and the woods there have been sketchy at best. 2 of the front four were open yesterday. I suppose lift line will get groomed and open. So, yeah, they will have groomers and hard bumps, and they are calling for rain on Saturday, so we're gonna pass.
  5. Who is flying johnny? But more importantly, will the event be fun for my kid? Will she just get one run down the bumps? Lots of standing around? I'm in a fairly bitter mood, having just cancelled VT for the third time this season. A fun contest could be just we need, but if it's going to be kind of lame and Blue is jammed, I'll just be even more depressed. I might take up squash. Totally weather independent. And we have nice squash courts nearby.
  6. I was joking.
  7. Have to say, this is conversation isn't making me want to do it... also - crowd predictions for this weekend? After that rain, maybe skiing is off everyone's mind?
  8. That would be a good choice. When they had it on challenge - I think it was challenge.... - they didn't close the whole slope. They gated off the skiers left side of the trail and let it bump up nicely. Makes sense RE: getting the kids involved. Well, looks like Vermont got destroyed yesterday, so I'm gonna see if my daughter wants to do this.
  9. Is that the mogul run for Saturday?
  10. Huh - years ago, I remember this being on challenge. They do it on the learning slope now? Regardless, if I don't go to Vt this weekend, maybe I'll do this with my daughter. That's a shame.
  11. Looks fun! Might try to head up tomorrow night....
  12. Did they get snow today?
  13. Yeah, that is ideal, but I'm driving 1:45 each way, so a few runs, then bailing when the crowds come isn't an option. Nice.
  14. yeah, but the crowds at blue can be so soul crushing. JF you have the place to yourself. What people are there are pretty chill too. I get a little bummed listening to the cursing and attitudes of the crowds at blue and CB when skiing with the kids. How were the lines sunday?
  15. What is Gonzo's grind? Yeah, I agree - when these little things are open, it's pretty fun. Just the trails get's you bored very fast.
  16. I was there too....and concur. Nice day. Sun was out. Nice views on east mountain, but the skiing was kind of boring there. Was surprised those happy land trees were skiable at all given he rain. I might be in the 'they should add a high speed lift' camp now. I was skiing alone while my kid and friend bopped around on their own, and boy, you do spend a lot of time on those slow lifts there... Anyway, a fun time.

    crowded

I'm dying to see a pick of the six pack lines.

    crowded

it must be unbearable. We skied about 10:30 -3 yesterday. Ticket line was contained in the building all day. Crowds at the valley lifts were a mass of humanity about 20 feet past the ticket turnstiles. But once you got past them and into the singles line, it moved quick enough. Jeez, I can only imagine what it's like today. Burma lift was the shortest line. maybe 10 minutes tops. But that lift is pretty slow...Main street chair was pretty mobbed all day. Which always confuses me...just push around to the other side.... 2 more hours = 2 more runs....

    crowded

There is a pic of the ticket line going outside the lodge into the street: http://forums.alpinezone.com/showthread.php/137669-So-who-s-planning-to-ski-where-Sunday?p=932269&viewfull=1#post932269 post 26.

    crowded

Oh jeez. Based on the awesomeness of my day there yesterday, I sent some friends there today....'won't be crowded. It's a weekday....' Oops.
  21. Was there with one daughter. We thought NM>DW would be the run of the day....until we hit switchback...wow. That was so fun...just incredibly nice. We tried barney's and bailed half way and cut back over the switch because it was just so much better... Hit a bike trail > blue glade, but was just ok - just not deep enough yet. But fun to just be in the woods, even if it was just for a few minutes. Sidewinder had some fun spots on the sides. We were going to try the 6-pack line which looked see, but we bailed on the high speed lifts because the crowds were soul sucking down there. Spent most of our time on switch back after lunch. Great day.
  22. RR - so sorry to hear that - get well soon....
  23. friend just called blue. They are claiming 20-30" and questionable if they can open tomorrow because of road conditions. Can anyone local confirm? yeehaw.
  24. what trail is that?
  25. Winner!
