Days Won

Bailed on southern VT and went up to Stowe for two days with my kids. Snow was way better than expected. The first day was pretty cold, but on the trails with active snow making, the snow was down right good. Pretty amazing actually. Second day we had 5" overnight - morning was great, then things got a little skied off. All in all, worth the extra hours in the car for two pretty solid days. Both days, Perry Merrill was the only trail off the gondi, two or three variations possible off the quad. A little bit of beginner terrain across the street. They called it 20 trails....

So, who is who in that pic?
-
Train for what? Where can they race? So how fast cane the NAO change?
-
Magic pushed back to 26th also, but the MRG weather guy has nothing but bad news. Models are coalescing around a warm up at X-mas. So the east will get a little bit of cold this weekend, then start trending warmer again.

I took a few - how do you post pics here? Photo bucket and paste the link? My best picture is of a PA ride and ski sticker on a lift chair that I thought must have been from this forum...but its ride and ski not ski and ride, which I think is the 3/4th grade kids ski program the state runs!

It survived. Slushy and brown in spots, and a little slick on the head wall, but generally a fine trail.....OK - my season has begun.
-
Ha! I was just trolling FB trying to see how it looked - suddenly I'm going to be in the area tomorrow with time to kill - thought I might put the skis in the car. Hard to imagine that one trail survived this warm day though.

Lower main street looks pretty good on the camera. not sure how you ski just lower main street though....

Jack Frost facebook has a pic of snow falling this morning? Impossible, no?
-
Yeah, the bigger VT hills will have trails to ski on, but long term forecasts, FWIW, aren't showing much cold weather for them either - even northern VT. The MRG weather guy says there is some kind of oscillation or blocking pattern, or something, that is stuck in place keeping the warm air over the region. And whatever it is that is stuck there is hard to dislodge. So probably 2 weeks of this bullshit. Or something like that....my eyes glaze over at that stuff, and ultimately, there is nothing we can do about. But his weather blog is on the mRG site.

central jersey. Was hoping to start the season next saturday, so my choices might be drive 3 hours to ski two (hopefully? they seem to think they are opening this weekend....) trails at Belleayre, or drive 1-3/4 hours to ski (what I remember to be) a very flat, short trail at BB.... Bummer.
-
Haven't been to BB since I was in grade school. But might be there next weekend! Ug.

hunter's Facebook has a pic of snow making. From this morning? Overnight temps in the catskills look pretty good after tomorrow. Look pretty terrible for the pokes.
-
I don't know. Seems doubtful. This weekend is a long shot for me anyway - I've been planning to start the season next weekend - dec. 12.
-
Any action at elk? Little further north....maybe, just maybe they are faring a little better? Jesus christ. I really don't want to drive 3 hours to the catskills next weekend to ski two trails at hunter or bell., but it might come to that.
-
Hoping for the catskills sometime in Dec...
-
Forecast seems to have improved a little bit - dec 5 weekend seems possible, no?
-
Anyone? I'm going to be optimistic and say Dec 12....

Mt. Hood vs. Blue....obvious choice is obvious.

Was danny the bump instructor? I met that guy on the lift once - nice guy. Why did he leave?
