    7 deg

Just looked at the 10 day for Tannersville - low of 7 degrees on Thursday night…. wow. Great cold start to the season. Hope this doesn't jinx us for an extended Jan. thaw….regardless, should be some more trails opening up everywhere his weekend.
  4. Is the lower lodge at CB not open yet? I usually park there once the place is all open. Easier walk to lodge, less crowded lodge and not so uptight about packing food in….
  5. Those have been our two mountains in PA for that last four or five years, with an occasional trip to Shawnee. When the kids were very little we went to bear creek a lot.
  6. Yeah, boy, it's hard to get away from the vert. foot issue. When you think about paradise - nice long trail for the kids - seems like the way to go…. Gonna keep an eye on Camelback too. There is one other issue - my youngest uses her PA Ski Pass, so if we hit blue again this weekend, she'll only have one more blue ticket for the whole season. Might be a shame to squander it on another not fully open day.
  7. Family trip - Wife and I, one daughter and her friend. Blue or Jack Frost - I realize the bias on this board is for Blue, and really, it's probably our #1 pocono mountain as well, but I've been wanting to try JF for a while. Haven't skied there since I was in high school. It looks like they let the place bump up nicely, and allow tree skiing, such as it is. Which I think would add some nice variety to our day trips. Also hear it doesn't get as crowded on weekends. So was thinking of giving it a whirl Saturday, realizing there will be no bumps yet. My main concern with it is, the 600 vert feet just sounds painfully short. If Blue gets the valley open by Saturday, which seems possible, that might change things though. but that also might bring out a crushing crowd too…. Thoughts? Never to early in the week to start obsessing about the weekend!
  8. Valid concern. Not a small child though. And a very good skier, just not a park skier. We don't spend time in parks on crowded days, and my kids are well versed in safety around the mountain, including around park features. But I understand your concern.
  9. really??? Wow. We haven't set foot in there for three years then! Man, that's crazy...
  10. My daughter and I had a great time at Blue today. We were there from about 9 to 2. Pretty much ski onto the lift all day except for around 10:30-11. Main Street was the run of the day, with better snow on skiers right. The park > (midway? the trail that was not the chute that brought you back to main street) was another favorite. Not that we hit the features, but my daughter likes hitting the ramps as jumps. Boy, they really made the summit lodge nice....is that new this year? Last year we never set foot in it, parking and using the valley lodge instead. But that is really nice. Must be a great place to hang if you don't have a long drive home ahead of you. Would like to check it out when that out door food bar is going. Great time today. Might be back next weekend, though we might give CB a go, depending on trail openings this week. Should be a nice day tomorrow as well - enjoy.
  11. Whose name should I shout when I see that guy?
  12. Probably be there by 9 - grey north face, black helmet. You guys have a secret signal? Stickers on your helmets?
  13. Weather.com calling for 1-3" snow after this rain tonight. That should help!
  14. 5 feet? stop. Really?
  15. You guys think all the same trails will be open for Saturday?
  16. i live in Princeton, NJ. Found this from Alpine Zone.
  17. Yeah, blue is a nice mountain. Just needs more natural snow…. which, well, you know, just ain't in the cards. And man, can it get crowded….but thems the breaks skiing in PA.
  18. You think they will groom them flat after the rain/snow friday? Got new skis. Dying to try everything… but like I said, just happy if they are open!
  19. Latest report shows that rain MIGHT turn to snow over night, so maybe they will groom early sat and put em back in…. Either way….I'll be happy if they just keep the trail count up for Sat. am… Looking forward to starting the season.
  20. Wow. Surprised they put the bumps in already. Hope they survive till Saturday….
  21. Love the optimism. Planning on making the trip….
  22. Will it be worth a 1-1/2 hr drive given the rain on friday? Jonesing pretty hard to start the season…..
