  1. Pro tip: you can bring the bottle through, just not the water. Bring an empty and fill it at the water fountain. Add one of those powdered water enhancers for flavor.
  2. Not to mention if the entire class isn't interested, he should have changed the focus. He needs to remember who pays who
  3. I'm dumb, meant Lazy. Can't say how the coverage is, but during my run (and pause at the top before starting) at least a dozen skiers were in there. Saw more later when going to Switchback and Main Street too.
  4. All but the glades. The trees skiers right of Main Street were being poached regularly last night.
  5. Was a good night. Made I think 5 runs, Lazy to lower sidewinder, then Nightmare to Dreamweaver. I ran Switchback while Pops ran Burma. Headed back up the Main Street lift and he called it, said Burma was all chopped up and burned out his legs. I ran down Widowmaker and couldn't believe the 6 inches of sweet powder when everything else on the mountain was mashed potatoes/sugar. Back up the Vista lift and I took a hot lap on Main Street and decided to call it a night, checking the speed on Lower Main had my legs ready to give in. Met dad at the Last Run Lounge where he was visiting his mug and had a quick vodka/cran before rolling out just bore 10. Good to get back at it. Skiing somewhere Saturday, either Blue for a few hours or first visit of the year to the Camel.

  7. Not to hijack but same deal ($31 lift) available at the Wilkes Barre Sweet Deals site: http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/wilkesbarre/montage-mountain-extended-lift-ticket Snow tubing tix go on sale tomorrow ($25 for a pair): http://www.sweetdealscumulus.com/deal/wilkesbarre/montage-mountain-snow-tubing-1
  8. Yeah, not really looking forward to that but haven't been out since the 7th because I was in Orlando all last week. Itching to get out there.
  9. I have heard they are notorious about not allowing any sort of deal combinations, mostly from reading yelp reviews. I know last year they wouldn't give us out season pass discount when we were partially paying with a Ski, Ride and Dine credit, even though that was just a dollar amount credit and not a coupon or anything.
  10. Is rain forecast tonight? I haven't paid attention to the forecast but was planning on heading up after work
  11. I get that, and I have, but I was following the line of the thread about eating at Blue this ski season. Also, it was significantly cheaper during the last ski season, to my memory, anyway. Maybe I've just gotten cheaper.
  12. Ate at Slopeside once. Disappointing and jacked up prices. Won't be back unless it's to hit the happy hour bar bites menu weekday evenings
  13. Alli found you guys again? Man, I think PASR has a groupie!
  14. Think you might be right because I remember being surprised they were willing to redeem that special ski and dine deal on Friday since it was a weekday deal.
  15. Friday is a weekday for Blue wrt to ticket prices
  16. I really wanted to get out this morning since I didn't make it out either of the other days of the long weekend, but just not dedicated enough to head out in the rain. Maybe tomorrow night after work. Glad the snow was good for you!
  17. I'm going to hit a Sunday evening session for the $22 special.
  18. Plan to be there at open. Gonna try real hard, I know the crowds will come later.
  19. No, I ran out of money for school in like my sophomore year, so never finished the degree. I wrote for the Collegian while I was at Penn State, that's about as big time as I got. Came home and took a retail "figuring shit out" job that turned into a career. Climbed that ladder for ten years until I got high enough to realize it wasn't for me anymore. Took a job as a cable guy and now I'm ten years in this field. Much happier a decade in over here though.
  20. Years ago I was a journalism major, so I tend toward the long winded-ness.
  21. Way to get after a long trip report! I like it!
  22. I still don't recognize everyone, figured the two guys zipping all over the place were PASRs but y'all never stood still long enough, lol
  23. Wow, that one really got away from me, lol. Sorry for the long post, folks. TL:DR — fun couple hours. Dad skied some stuff he never tried before. I had a hilarious fall.
  24. Home from a sweet evening session on the snow. Arrived kinda late, about 7:30, and as we're unloading in the upper lot Pops realizes he left his pass at home. That necessitates a stand in line at the ticket window where they look him up and give him a comp for the evening. With the delay we're on the snow just before 8pm. Start off with a run down Burma Road, and my form must have been shite because the legs were burning good by the bottom. I was worried it wasn't gonna be a good night but didn't really have much burn after that. Took it all the way down to the valley and caught a ride to the apex on the quad. Hit up Lazy after that and split with Pops at the 180 so J could run down Falls to the quad, he finished out Lazy and met me down by the quad. Took it back up and hit Lazy again, this time Pops decided he was game for his first shot down Falls. Made a couple tight turns at the top then pointed them downhill and ran it out down Homestretch. Next up was a planned run out Crossover and down Burma but we bailed at the Vista lift and then did Vista into Burma. Nice fun run down Burma, didn't have a soul on the trail with us until about the last 100 yards. On the ride up the Main Street chair Pops decided that the empty conditions were a good reason to give Main Street a go. That was the run of the night as conditions were pretty sweet with some nice soft snow on top of a hard but not ice pack surface. Skiers right especially had some good topcover, probably mostly from being pushed there. It was also run of the night because it was my dad's first true black diamond run. He'd run only Nightmare and Widowmaker last year, and then Falls tonight. All fun, but for a true honest to gosh top to bottom black, it was the first one. He handled it well, probably won't be quick to jump on there with significant people but at least he knows it's in play for those slow evening sessions. Rode back up the Main Street lift and decided to run down Clme Round to the Vista lift, then Vista to the lodge. On the Vista run I took the turn off Come Around uphill to hit the fresh blown snow coming off the uphill gun there. Oops. It was sticky as hell and I ate it hard. Hit that stuff and the skis stopped and I kept right on going. Popped out of the right ski and went about 50 feet on the left before laying down in a laughing heap. Walked back up to retrieve the ski and continued on to call it a night. Fun, fun session. Pops makde hella nice progress. I set a new top speed ever at 46.8 (app based, probably not fully accurate.) Just a damn good time. Might squeeze in another evening session Friday off the fam doesn't bail out to MD in the afternoon for holidays. Won't be able to ski otherwise until Monday. Paradise looks nice but needs a final grooming. They were just leveling Challenge at the end of the session. Guns blazing on Upper Vista, Widowmaker, top of Switchback but not the bottom, Razor and Razors Edge and tubing. No love yet for NightWeaver.
  25. Paradise was all leveled out but not surfaced. Groomer was starting to level Challenge about 9pm.
