Nah, got my fill in today. For new terrain I would, or if I had a pass, for sure. Today will probably hold me over until Blue opens, unless someone else does something interesting between now and then

That's what kept my pops away, he saw Tannenbaum listed as a park on their map and didn't want to deal with features. I was convinced there wouldn't be features in it, gamble paid off. Cover was definitely thinner on skiers right, and that side also had a couple of natural rollers 2/3 - 3/4 of the way down the trail. Maintained pretty good coverage through 1pm tho

That's they key, heck, rentals are $40, so it's $20 for a lesson and beginner lift. If someone were to decide on lesson 2 they wanted more they could buy a ticket and still be ahead money wise. I wonder if you can use your pass on lesson day 3 if it's after 2/20? Or if you could take two lessons back to back and count it as days 2 and 3? Lol

Problem with trying Burma first time out is if you can't turn parallel it's so narrow. I took my first timer lesson at Blue and by the end they had me up on the chair (2/3 of the class never got off the carpet) and linking wedge turns. The next week I went up to Camel because a friend hooked me up with a bunch of free tickets and was cruising the heck out of Sunbowl so I decided to head to the top of the mountain to try the green routes down. That didn't work out too well for someone skiing wedge turns, lol.

I've had a few friends express interest in it. I would tell them not to even attempt Burma until they can turn parallel. That's at least into the second lesson, and probably even the third

Boulder today, headed up after the first run of the day: A look toward the base from waaaaay up on top of Tannenbaum: Ugh. Getting crowded. Time to split:

Is Big Boulder gonna blow snow this weekend??

Stuck to Tannenbaum the entire time, was solo today so just ran laps. 22 runs later I'm headed home. Stopping at the service plaza for Burger King or Quiznos -
No, I brought them but stuck with the old ones for today. I was going to switch halfway but figured for 175 feet of vertical why bother?
-
Hasn't been bad at all so far today. 50 people max at a time lapping Tanenbaum. Seems like never more than a dozen or so on the trail at a time. Usually half that. No real lift lines except for right after two decent shut downs. Yeah, the vert sucks but the snow is nice and it's good to be back on the skis

Just hanging out on the lift right now. Couple of morons forgot to get off at the top and it shut down. LOL. Been sitting here for about 10 minutes, they can't seem to get it restarted. -

Yeah, pretty empty so far on Tannenbaum. No features over here -
Blue's Black Friday deals are a bit underwhelming, but that explorer learn to ski deal might be the best deal I've ever seen on practically anything ever. If anyone knows any true first timers in the area, point them there. $179 for three lessons, including beginner lift and rentals, and then at the end you get a free season pass!?! That's sick, even if the pass is only valid after 2/20. The weekend 3-pack is overpriced at $189 in my opinion. That's only like $7 off a weekend ticket, and you have to pay up front and take on the risk of not using all 3. I know it's open- close vs 8 hr ticket, but most people won't need more than 8 hours anyway. The weekday 3 pack isn't bad at $99, $22 per day off the normal price of $55 on weekdays.

Well, since it doesn't look like they got to blow last night, (looks like guns still off on webcams) that thought is right out the window, lol. Guess Boulder is the Great White Hope for this weekend.

Check a couple threads down. They advertised that they were going to be open for at least two more weeks, then abruptly shut it down on like a Thursday. Just in time so weekend arrivals to the hotel couldn't cancel their rooms without an increased penalty. Straight DB move.
-
Why can't all the hills just be straight with the patrons like Blue (usually) is?
-
Yeah, you're surely right. And they definitely showed a willingness to go full douche on the hotel patrons with the way they closed out last season. Saw NBC 10 posted about them blowing snow today then they shared it. Wonder if they contacted them.

No, they didn't come out and say anything, kept saying to stay posted for opening date. It's a total read between the lines on my part. Like they posted 4 hours ago that they had been blowing for almost 24 hours, and said they had 5" of natural under that. And they'll blow tonight, and tomorrow night will be even better. And they are replying to EVERY comment to stay tuned for an opening date, they usually don't do that. And one person said something like "At least we can see it out our windows" and they replied "nice view! Stay tuned for opening day announcement." Then the person replied that they were staying in the lodge this week, and too bad they won't be able to ski. And they replied AGAIN, to stay tuned for an opening day announcement. That was weird, and triggered my spidey sense.

Just reading between the lines on their Facebook postings. Of course, they don't have the best history of being forthright with their patrons, IMO.

I predict the Camel is going to drop a bomb tomorrow and announce a Wednesday opening. Friday at the latest, but my gut says Wednesday. Do the hills open on Thanksgiving?

It's a beautiful thing . . .

Wish they had a cam on Widowmaker. Gotta be knee deep by now, chest deep by morning.

Winter wonderland up on Vista tonight.

On the flight back from Boston to Philthy this evening. My hand wasn't out the window.

Why the lower lot will always be better than the top lot.
