  1. Just bustin' balls. Was behind an instructor today at the quad at Blue who tried to load herself and three little girls all from the left side of the queue, telling the first two girls to move up and then right to let her and the other student slide up. You can guess how that worked out. The three girls made it up and she didn't, so she tried to go right as the chair was swinging past her. She didn't make it, but the inexplicable part (to me anyway) was that she then grabbed the right corner of the chair and was pulling on it like she was going to make it go backwards or something. ?!? Anyway, they stopped the lift and she stepped of and around and got on with them. No harm, no foul. Pretty funny to watch her yanking on that chair tho
  2. This thread is about eaf's inability to ride chairlifts at Shawnee, let's keep it on topic.
  3. We should have done NightWeaver. Kicking myself on that one. Limited runs today because Pops and I both had bad icing inside the goggles issues. After third run which was Lazy we had to go inside and use hand dryers to defrost and dry them, and they started icing up after three more runs so we called it quits. Had planned on a short day anyway to spend time with my kids before I leave tonight to fly to Florida in the morning. Rotd for me was Switchback, although conditions of the day were on Widowmaker, since even though we got to it at like 940 it was covered in fresh cord with only a couple carves laid down. Pops said rotd was Lazy, I thought it was shit for the top 2/3 on skiers right, all boilerplate and cookies. He was skiers left and said it was sweet down that side, nice and loose powder on top for most of the run. I couldn't tell because I couldn't see shit out of my left eye at that point. Raised the goggs for safety before the hard right and finished the run with cold ass eyeballs. Back on the snow next Sunday. Sausage Sunday.
  4. I don't think I'd go that far. It was certainly cold, but tolerable. I'd maybe call it "each kid gets their own cup of hot cocoa" weather.
  5. First tubing park open tho

    Coolers?

There are signs posted stating that coolers on weekends and holidays are only allowed in the lower lodge, might even say in designated areas, but I can't remember. Also says no crockpots at all.
  7. Camelback offers advanced lessons, just not in a group. One hour private lesson is $119.
  8. 2 degrees verified.
  9. 476 north of the turnpike was fine, clear of snow and moving well above the reduced speed limit of 45. The Blue Route was in shitty condition snow wise with slow traffic abundant. This as of my 1:15-3:00 pm commute from Aston.
  10. It's not your thread. Once you put it out there, it belongs to the people. You gotta learn to let things go.
  11. Had this pop up in my Facebook feed. Customer appreciation days for Ski Bum at Blue on four separate fridays, $38 tickets. Can purchase online without having to go to store. https://www.theskibum.com/blue-cad-day-ticket-2018-506135329188954523 Dates: Friday January 19th Friday January 26th Friday February 16th Friday March 2nd
  12. I almost had the ignominious distinction of having my first fall of the year be on Yeti at Blue yesterday, when I skied onto the first little slide box hey have in there but totally missed it with the right ski. No idea how I managed to stay upright, but I saved it, lol
  13. 3rd place. $10 gift card, and didn't win the lift ticket. Lost to two 6 person teams. They said "Team PA Ski and Ride Dot Com" six times, so we're spreading the legend. And that grilled cheese, tho . . .
  14. Fifth round was a 70s name that tune. Another dog for us. And got the final question wrong. Damn 70s. Only chance for us is if everyone got it wrong and wagered bigger than us maybe we'll win the lift ticket raffle
  15. Round 4 was 70s current events. Either 9 or 10 out of 10. Waiting on tallies. Hope we win this giftcard so I don't hafta pay for the drinks. Grilled cheese with tomato soup — sorry, bisque, at Last Run Lounge is legit.
  16. Round 3 was 70s music. Not my decade. 5 out of 10. Still fourth place but 5 behind
  17. Still here! Round 2 just finished, tallying scores. 70s movies. Not so good for us. 6 out of 10, 16 out of 20 so far. 4th out of 6, but only 2 behind.
  18. I'll be in Orlando next week, but plan to hit the 8 weeks after that Edit: they haven't announced the scores for round 1 but Team PASR is at least tied for the lead because we stone cold knew all 10 of those
  19. They made me pick a team name and I wasn't prepared. Pops and I holding I down for PASR. All 7 people here are gonna hear the plug. If we win and boost the rep of the site we may need to talk sponsorship. Maybe some branded pocket protectors.
  20. I like trivia enough to check it out. Most weeks I'll probably start and bail after an hour and ski if I'm getting my ass kicked, unless a group does form and it's fun anyway. It ends at 830 so I can still ski for an hour after. Tonight I probably won't ski after though, and next week I'll be in Orlando.
  21. So who's joining me for trivia night tomorrow night? I need some people to join me on the (un)official PASR team!
  22. I would probably buy a pass at Camelback every other year if I could get it for $399 like you did this year. I would just put off skiing there in the off years until they put the next years pass on sale. I usually buy a triple ticket a year there, at $43 per visit it would take 5 visits each year for me to save money on that pass. Might be tight to squeeze that many in, considering I would still have a Blue pass as well. Living less than 20 minutes from the mountain it doesn't make any sense not to have one. Moot point anyway, since I passed eligibility for that pass about 10 years, 364 days ago.
  23. Frost has way more glades than Blue. Blue only has the two marked glades, but they are really okay with you skiing wherever the hell you want, so if it dumps you can go off in the trees in a lot of places. Camelback also seems cool with off piste skiing, but seems to have a lot less places to do it.
  24. But are you still convinced that he's an expert level skier of yearly Vermont trip caliber in sheep's clothing?
