  1. All of my posts from now on will be followed by a list of acceptable reactions. Readers may choose from the following. Simply indicate the number in your reply. 1. I agree with you completely and appreciate your perfectly accurate articulation of what are also my own views. 2. That is excellent and sage advice and I shall act upon it immediately! 3. That is the most hilarious thing I have ever read! You are a seriously funny writer and should be making piles of money in Hollywood. Also many people don't understand the difference between "hilarious" and "hysterical" and I completely agree with you that people who misuse "hysterical" should not be allowed to use social media on account of their damaging impact on general literacy. 4.This emoticon:
  2. That doesn't make sense. I have to read it to know if I like it or not. That's like punching someone and then saying "shouldn't have put your face in front of my fist."
  3. Oh god it hurt my eyes to read that.
  4. Killington spring pass here. I plan to ski until the mountain bike trails open. I think I need to get a gravel or road bike for the mud season.
  5. I took high school students to Hooters once years ago on a model congress trip. They wanted to go and I said no, and they begged, so I said ok. It was a mix of girls and boys and the girls all immediately started talking about how gross and exploitive it was and we had a nice discussion about gender expectations and the Male Gaze. The boys were completely bummed out and probably wish we'd gone anywhere else. Mission. Accomplished.
  6. You would have seen my car; everyone else seems to duck out early. I have a hard time leaving when lifts are spinning. But then I get home and collapse asleep like an exhausted toddler. EDIT: A toddler who drinks a lot of IPA.
  7. ENJOY!!! My turn to be jealous! I have to drive back to Vermont today and they are not getting any snow!
  8. I get that, for sure. The problem is I still have trouble staying forward/balanced consistently. If I try to let 'er rip on steeper trails or in any sort of challenging condition, I end up on my heels. I do NOT want to fall that way; that is the way of the ACL tear. But today I definitely worked on looking and going straight down more than making lots of turns. When everything clicked, it was a blast. When I got out of balance and back on my heels, it was frustrating. OTOH, frequent short turns may not be as efficient bombing straight down, but I am Turney McTurnFace The Queen of Unnecessary Turns and I put in longer days than most people!
  9. Around the mtn today. Fav runs were NMDW, Main st., and Sidewinder. Weirdly there were icy spots in amongst the soft snow/-not ice I guess but compacted snow that feels like ice.
  10. Really fun afternoon, actually. Poor mtn just looked a bit ragged, but the skiing was good,
  11. Good question. I'm hosting a Sunday brunch and since I'm not a gay man or a southern debutsnte I have NO idea how to host a brunch. I should just ski for 14 hours anthen buy a quiche and some champagne, right?
  12. Ah Salty, why limit your fun? The mountain is open, lifts will be running, and it wil be sunny. I may have to put in my last 10 hour day!
  13. I'm a woman of leisure; nothing can ruin my zen! I was just surprised
  14. Oh, I mean, I'm not going to STOP skiing or anything crazy like that.
  15. At Blue now. What did you goons do to this place??? It looks awful and it won't stop raining. Jaysus I go away for three weeks and this happens? It's not even fucking warm out. It looks like the mountain has mange. If I had a gun I'd put it out of its misery but dammit I quit teaching before I got my weapon.
  16. I basically get a Doppler-Effect of everyone saying "WOOOOHOOOO" as they speed by me. I'm not a PASR, but I'm PASR-adjacent for a few seconds.
  17. I'll be there! Maybe tomorrow afternoon, too since it'll be too wet to mountain bike.
  18. They're yours, just let me know how to get 'em to you.
  19. My condo cost considerably less than a Sprinter van! I'm considering a Tacoma with a camper shell, though!
  20. Moving to Brownsville next month; just a tiny 600-square-foot condo, but it cuts my living expenses to almost nothing and is a killer location for everything I love to do (MTB, ski, run, live in a great, vibrant community with opportunities to volunteer/be of service). I have a lot of family and friends in the Upper Valley so that was an easy choice and also I got insanely lucky, frankly, with a good housing situation right on Mt. Ascutney. Really rooting for Magic to succeed, and it does seem like they have the cash and are focusing on snowmaking, which unfortunately you just need to do these days in New England. I'm not a good enough skier for 75% of their terrain, but also I don't guess you get better by sticking to Okemo's groomers. Magic is on the Freedom Pass, which comes with a lot of flexibility as well, so it seemed like a good bet to get on their cheaper "blackout" pass since I don't care about skiing on holidays anyway and it will get me out and exploring local hills. Moe, how much time do you spend in VT vs. PA?
  21. Anyone have a use for these old skis? pasr shotski? I'll prolly trash them if nobody wants them. Free of course. Also free are some ski bags and a swix iron. Lemme know. In Bethlehem but will be at blue Sat.
