Sticky snow is cheaper - more gallons per minute at a given temperature means denser snow that doesn't till as nicely, but lasts longer, builds up quicker, and costs less. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  2. I've an inkling what that they don't. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  3. I hear about northern resorts getting power curtailments - Sugarbush's owner has said they missed cold weather a couple times this year from that. Maybe that's why they missed most of this window. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  4. I was hoping for lower Sidewhiner but you can see from the lift not all of the trail is running and there's still dust covered grassy parts - maybe Sunday. Also Pioneer Pass has till on it. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  5. I might be out if Razors and Switchback open. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  6. Looks like way more progress on Central than Terrain Run... Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  7. At least they had a little snowmaking last night to tighten things up for first tracks. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  8. I've never seen Main Street bumped that hard without natural snow. That was nuts. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  9. It was sweet through about 10:30, the sleet stopped and Barney's was bumped without having been seeded - natural spaced bumps are a treat and natural snow in them just made them better. I started with Chute - Main, did one trip down Main proper, then ComeAround to Chute a couple times before the kitty litter and lumps took over Chute. ComeAround had nice powder that whole time. After that I worked on Barney's 'till I packed it in. My conclusion is I need more practice, wax, and sharp edges. More powder wouldn't hurt either. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  10. I'm not a potato, I've been slow tubing maybe three times but I did take a look around when I drove by. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  11. Done? The middle section is barely white and the family tubes haven't even started yet. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  12. Minivans are okay. Station wagons are awesome. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  13. Rain's still holding off except a sprinkle once or twice. Chute's been suprisingly good all day, lower Main is starting to grow bumps. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  14. Depends on weather if I'm there Saturday or just Friday. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  15. At least something happened this year out that way - that's more progress than we've seen since it got clearcut. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  16. I'm aiming for a night ski session - its too good to pass up on this early. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  17. Also the groomers - they did great work especially with rain last night. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  18. No, that's fresh paint - Burma chairs are still the old color. Vista got painted too. Did anyone else notice the unplanted trees and new snowguns on Burma Road? Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  19. Looks like upper main and something near/on Midway and some stuff in the valley is on. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  20. Main Street lit up some time before 6:15 per the Main Street cam. Edit: and of course my phone loads the new comments after I post. So at least before 5:30. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  21. There's no snowmaking on Vista, either - what sign are you expecting to see before ~midnight when it gets cold? Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  22. When do I get a grade, I keep posting all these correct answers. At least a gold star or something! Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  23. Vista also comes with Come Around, so your unsteepness is only blocked by other people, not features. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  24. The big tell is going to be Tubing and the valley - if the fans for the base area run plus Tubing, they're ready to fight and try and stockpile. Edit: as compared to opening just for the weekend. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  25. Because it's five inches of natural. That'll compact to about an inch of base depth. Then it'll melt for a few days before the snowguns turn back on. No area around here will open on such a slim margin that one inch of base depth makes it or breaks it. Also, the meltwater is going to soak the ground. Dry ground holds manmade better than sloppy wet, but this part probably doesn't change much either - again, there wasn't enough to really move the needle. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
