  1. Blue earns a lot of points from me for being open until 10 pm. Most mountains seem to close at 9 pm every night. That extra hour provides line-free runs down empty slopes. That Max Pass sounds interesting, I'll look into it. I'll have to learn to sleep in my car to avoid paying for hotels every night. AirBnB just sounds too sketchy to me.
  2. I was basing my analysis off reports from SallyCat and my observation on Wednesday night when I noticed zero separation between the VIP and regular lines, despite there being two VIP readers. However, I believe I fully acknowledged somewhere above that it's still relatively early in the season, and both instances were on weeknights. AtomicJeff then stated that the VIP line was in use during weekends, which I was glad to hear. It matters to me only because I'm a prospective Blue season pass holder and am looking for a reasonable comparison between the two mountains' crowd management systems.
  3. Update: You can now rest assured that we'll be able to access the Sullivan Trail black diamond tomorrow.
  4. Nope. If lines are too long I will ski early or late. My legs get tired from standing still for too long. I dont really have a set budget, but I dont go crazy dropping bank left and right either.
  5. Ah good to hear. Weekends are critical. I doubt it really matters during the week.
  6. That's what I hope if I get a pass. It's not peak time yet so we can cut them some slack. But not having a separate line defeats the purpose of the VIP scanner.
  7. I had high hopes for the VIP line. This is a bit disappointing. I can avoid the crowds most of the time at CB by using their singles lines, regardless of how busy it is. They do a great job with crowd management.
  8. What's the snow normally like after a heavy rainstorm? I might do night skiing at CB if it stops raining early.
  9. Lol who is going to pay $40 to ski in the rain?
  10. Due to this major error, I'm considering getting a pass for Blue. But Blue can't get their opening times right on social media, so I guess it's Montage then.
  11. Here's further analysis which concludes that Marjie's is not open. I hand-counted the trails and compared the final count to their Facebook post 4 hours ago.
  12. Brutus was my favorite before it betrayed us.
  13. Haha, Ok. At least you can take the Stevenson Lift to Rhododendron Glen. That means I can ride a high speed quad AND get some extra vert before bombing down Rhododendron Glen!
  14. Julius Caesar is no one's favorite. It sucks. It's literally flat and slightly uphill. It's only purpose to me is to connect to the trails that funnel into the Stevenson lift.
  15. Here's another post. The trails they mentioned certainly aren't any of my favorites. There are 7 blacks and 1 double black and none of them are mentioned.
  16. This is truly a possibility but I don't want to lose my Camelback season pass for poaching.
  17. This may be true but then they are providing incorrect information on Facebook text posts as well (see post above).

    BC 12/19

Here's their trail map. I've done trail F a lot, which is a fun black diamond. I haven't done trail G yet, the double black diamond, because it wasn't open last year. I heard a rumor that they might make the left half of trail G a triple or quadruple black diamond.
  19. Have fun on Paradise. I had a great time on it last night. Just watch out for the po-po. That overhead banner looks pretty intimidating.
  20. It was open last week, but for determining open trails, I'm going by what they wrote on Facebook and their official trail map.
  21. They said on Facebook that Marjies is closed, and it's not highlighted either red or purple on the map above.
  22. No, the lines were fine last night. But on 2/14 last year, I remember they were a little longer early on in the night. After 8 pm I think the lines were gone, and the best part is when they take down the barrier and you can just bypass the chip reader. Hanging out with some brahs tonight, so I probably won't be at Camelback until Sunday.
  23. Very exciting news!!! Camelback just released the infographic below on their Facebook page so we all know which trails are open today, and which trails will be open today and tomorrow. Anyone notice a problem? Sullivan Trail, a real black diamond, is open, but unfortunately none of the connecting trails are. Upon an inquiry to this perplexing problem from a random user, here is how Camelback management responded: Does anyone know how I am supposed to ski the only black diamond trail open this weekend? I've already done extensive analysis, and determined that I can't cut over from King Tut/Meadows to John Bailey because that black diamond is closed. I also don't think the connection between Big Pocono and Uncle Bill's Way is open and groomed, and it looks like it might even be an uphill segment based on the trail map. Maybe they made some snow in the glades between Marjie's and Rocket and just forgot to highlight the trail purple? Can any of you Camelback trail experts solve this dilemma?
  24. When I night ski, I know the place will begin to gradually empty out, and by 9 pm I'll be jumping right back on the lift after every run. So it doesn't annoy me quite as much. However, the six pack line seems more disorganized than I would like because they don't always fill it to maximum capacity.
  25. How can you tell its time to replace boots? I have no clue. I dont want to wait until the boot breaks off during a black diamond run. Last weekend a guy's boot literally broke off into 3 separate pieces scattered across Marjie's. I was nice and helped him gather all of his broken boot pieces.
