Weekend roll call thread 3/23-3/24
PSUFrankenstein replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
I'll be there tomorrow morning for opening (although I have to get my pass so I may not make first chair). I have to hit the road by 12 since the wife will be out of town tomorrow afternoon/sunday. -
Seriously, WTF is with this Weather?
PSUFrankenstein replied to Ride Delaware ?'s topic in General Chat
Mostly south Jersey...I spend a lot of time fishing Ocean City through Cape May Point, and also fish Long Beach Island a bit. Sometimes I'll hit spots further north like Manasquan, Spring Lake, etc. but South Jersey tends to be less crowded and I know some back bay spots that almost always hold fish. -

Spring (mid-April) is when saltwater fishing starts to pick up again, so I do look forward to spring. Late season skiing/riding is fun too though, soft snow and warm temps can be good. -
I considered just doing day trips/finding discounted tickets until next years pass comes out, but I just ended up getting the pass for 2019/20 instead. The past 10 years or so, I only got out 5 or 6 times a season, plus a trip out west. Having a season pass again got me out pretty much every weekend that I was free.

Yeah I wouldn't attempt it, I'm probably too out of shape to do stuff like that anyway right now. Your post had me googling abandoned ski resorts though and there seems to be a bunch of them, could make for some fun trips (although I guess some of them are off limits due to trespassing)

Whitetail awesome on closing day 3-17

Nice report, looks like a fun trip. -
Looks like a great trip. Have you hit any other abandoned ski resorts? I know there was one near steamboat (Stagecoach) but I think they were trying to open again. Also one off Berthoud Pass my buddy was telling me about
-
Looks like a great day. Wish I could've made it. I will probably be up next weekend
-
Nice report. I hope to hit montage one more time this year. The food at Slocum hollow is pretty good and they usually have a decent selection of beer

Hunter 3/14/19 - mo terrain mo problems
PSUFrankenstein replied to rgrwilco's topic in Other Mountains
Nice report. Grooming looks terrible, but the new terrain looks like it could be fun -
I probably won't make it this weekend, but I plan on getting out one or two more times this spring. I'm not very fly, but I am a white guy...who likes to fly fish.

I have a wedding to go to Saturday night in North Jersey, so it's unlikely I'll make this...I'm going to try though, sounds like it should be a great time

PSUFrankenstein replied to GrilledSteezeSandwich's topic in Blue Mountain
Had a good time today...thanks to Dan for the buddy pass. Snow was good did the first few runs on challenge and razors, then lapped main street area for a while. I'll visit again soon and will likely get a pass for next year -

I think I'll join you guys tomorrow if I can bum a buddy pass from someone. More than happy to trade beer or some cash for a pass, just don't want to pay window price to ride until lunch time. What time do you guys usually show up? -
Thanks Barb, I did see that, Triple Play pass for $ 139. I'm keeping my options open, I made sure to book a hotel with free cancellation in case plans change. I'm still leaning toward A-Basin and Loveland just because I haven't been there.
-
Staying at the Quality Inn & Suites Summit County. The price was reasonable (around $ 100 per night) and includes a breakfast buffet. My fly fishing gear probably only weighs 3 lbs or so total, and the fly rod tube fits inside my regular luggage. I've spent most of my CO trips at Steamboat and a few days at Winter Park, so I'm excited to hit some different places.
-
Awesome. I booked a hotel in Silverthorne for my trip, rental car I booked a few weeks ago, so I'm pretty much set. Lift tickets will wait until it gets closer, but I think it'll be A-Basin and Loveland (probably 2 days at Loveland). Since Southwest has a generous baggage policy, I may toss the fly rod in if I feel like fishing for a few hours (even though I know nothing about fishing in CO).

2019-20 Skison Pass decision making
PSUFrankenstein replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in General Chat
Either this weekend or the weekend of the 23rd I'll join you guys at Blue and use your buddy pass if that works for you. My pass decision next year is either Montage or Blue, or nothing and just see what I can find for discounted tickets around Black Friday/Christmas. -
I'm flying out of PHL, direct flights. I just got lucky and happened to be playing with the flight fare calendar on Southwest's site and saw that deal, I think there were two left at that price. I checked again recently and they were much higher. My friend lives in Steamboat and is going to meet me in Silverthorne. In the past, I've just gone to Steamboat since he usually scores me free tickets and it's a free place to stay, but Steamboat is a bit of a drive from Denver for such a short trip. And yeah, I'm lucky to get out on the weekends in PA, let alone a trip out west. I'll bring her back something good (not drugs )

Finalizing a CO trip for early April. Flying out after work April 3rd and back home late April 6th. I booked the flight via Southwest a month or so ago for a whopping $ 117. I figured if the trip didn't work out, Southwest is good about flight changes/cancellations. Planning on hitting Loveland and A-Basin. I should be able to get 3 full days in. Normally I do a week, but this is my first trip out west since my daughter was born, so it's not really fair to the wife to leave them alone that long.
-
Yeah I used to do the morning ticket deal also, and they gave a 10% AAA discount (I think they still do). I bought the $ 150 season pass someone posted here and definitely got my money's worth. I agree though, I don't think I'd pay a full price ticket, especially since I usually only ride until lunch time.

PASR Does Jackson: Round 2 (ding ding ding)
PSUFrankenstein replied to toast21602's topic in Other Mountains
Badass. Corbett's looks pretty good...not that I'd ever attempt it though.
