Jackson Hole 2025…A-Holes in JHole..

Yeah...I went for a walk along lake Champlain and couldn't feel my face. I'm heading back south tonight, but since I was stopping at Burton, I figured I'd hang out a bit -

The bison above you is impressed with your mouth hole. I'm currently hanging out in your old stomping grounds, Burlington -

I hope you can handle the incoming load Looking forward to the powder pics -
After a quick stop at the lodge, I did Vista glades again. Some fun drops in there and deep snow. Then back to the top and did Cobrass to Five Corners, which had some nice snow. Up Timberline to Adam's Solitude, which was a fun glade...nice wind lip at the top to jump off, and a few cliffs (didnt do those). The runout is actually pretty fun, single track with a good enough pitch to avoid getting stuck in the deeper snow. Did Doug's woods twice after that. Really fun glades, hit some small drops. Also did Spellbinder twice, steeper bumps at the top and mellow powder field at the bottom. Show off under the lift was a fun intermediate that still had some powder. Did Adam's Solitude again and launched the wind lip at bit too fast and ate it...after that, I decided it was time to head back to the Vista side. Did a groomer down to the beginner double and hit a green trail with good powder but too mellow of a pitch as expected

If the restaurant at the top is cameltop, does that mean the base is the cameltoe?

More pics later but Timberline side at Bolton is incredibly good. Especially Adam's Solitude and @GrilledSteezeSandwich woods
-
Bolton conditions today range from deep powder to windblown ice on the upper groomers. Lower mountain groomers are great and the glades are incredible. Did a few groomers and natural snow trails, along with enchanted forest, then 2 runs down Vista glades. On the second run in Vista, I found a pair of sunglasses so I returned them to lost and found and heading out and over to timberline lift in a few

Stopped into the retail shop to see what they had for boots and talked with the worker for a while who is originally from Lancaster. He reminded me that Burton has a flagship store and factory tour in Burlington so I'll probably head over there after Bolton Valley and bring my boot in. It's empty here at Bolton, I'll take some pics in a bit
-
Yeah mine is still able to be zipped up but the bottom zipper is stuck so I have to get it on/off by pulling it over my head. I'll get it figured out somehow, thanks for the info

Awesome, sounds like a good day, look forward to the pics. I've been having good luck with the snow up north but can't say the same about gear malfunctions. After the boot incident, I realized the zipper on my Picture jacket is stuck. @RidgeRacer didn't you recently have an issue with yours?

After lunch, back out for a few more runs. Did upper and lower bear den to Graham slam, which was a nice ungroomed intermediate. Then did power line again and also hit Sasquatch glade. Took a break to refill my Gatorade and book tonight's hotel, then back out. 2 runs down wilderness, then a few other runs after that, hit Doug's drop, borderline, lews leap, and a few others. Ski patrol did drop the ropes on a few trails that weren't listed as open this morning. A lot of the glades weren't open, but overall an awesome day. Left around 3, still snowing. Drove to Hill Farmstead after that for a Nelson IPA and picked up some stuff to go. Staying in Waterbury tonight and planning on hitting Bolton Valley tomorrow. Their report from this morning showed 3" and it's been snowing all day, so I'm expecting more by tomorrow morning.

Burke is a 15/10 east coast powder day. Not a huge amount of snow but soft and still some untouched snow after a few hours Pics probably suck because it's cold and my phone keeps fogging up. Started off on East bowl. Runout sucked with fresh snow but so worth it. Then hit upper and lower power line. Did a glade run and wilderness, both good. Then a groomer, big dipper i think...then shoot, a groomer, to ledges and something else to the bears den bar. Hill farmstead and chili for an early lunch

Duct tape sounds painful but whatever you're into, i won't judge -
The run out sucks but East Bowl had the best snow last time so I'll at least check it out once. Muleskinner at Saddleback reminded me of East Bowl. Muleskinner is steeper and not a bad runout although also seemed to get icier than East Bowl

I'm doing Burke today. Drove here from saddleback yesterday afternoon. They have a special midweek rate so I don't think they do 50% off the $45 rate but maybe that changed since last time I was here. Regardless, I got the lift ticket with the hotel stay. I think it was around $225 for the hotel room, lift ticket, and breakfast included from the Cafe. Pretty good deal for staying slopeside

I'm not sure on the hike. I talked to someone later in the day and he said the best way to access is hiking up right after the top of the lift. I was trying to hike up below the above treeline stuff but apparently it's best to go up and across the top of the mountain
-
Yeah I'm stoked that I hit Saddleback on a few good days. Their connection to fly fishing is awesome too. The waffle bar at the base wasn't open (only Friday through Sunday) but I had to get a pic of the sign. Already 2" of snow overnight at Burke and supposed to snow most of the day. Tomorrow I'll probably hit Bolton, although also considering Jay, magic, or Pico. Everywhere up here is getting at least a few inches of snow today/tonight

After swapping to a new pair of boots. I went back up the Rangeley quad...did a groomed run, then back up and did Green Weaver to nightmare glades. Great snow so I did that twice, followed by a run through Thrombosis glades. After that, I did green Weaver to upper and lower green hornet. Mostly untouched snow there but pretty flat and goes all the way to the bottom beginner lift. Got lunch at the cafeteria, chicken quesadilla and left shortly after 1. Checked out a few fishing spots on the way to Burke, but it was pretty windy and cold, so I didn't bother paying for the one day NH license and kept driving. Staying at the Burke hotel, had ribs and a Frost IPA at The Pass pub. Saddleback is one of my favorite places in the east and I'm glad I was able to hit the Casablanca stuff this time. Never got to the above treeline stuff but the steeper stuff was starting to get windblown after switching boots so probably wasn't great at that point.

Better keep your pants on in bed. That bison is watching you -
I have a second pair of boots I bought 2 years ago to have as a spare pair but hadn't used them yet. Until they get broken in a bit, they tend to hurt your feet. They do have the heat moldable liners so I may do that after this trip.
-
They do offer free replacements but I think its just the coiler and cable/laces and stuff. Where it threads into on the boot is broken/ripped out. I'll see if Burton will check it out. Not sure if thats a replaceable part. I'm sure it was user error so not too upset about it. I caught it on a few branches underneath the snow a few times

Have a great trip guys -
Went down muleskinner and off into the trees next to it, which were wide open glades and really good snow. Tried hiking another spot but it was pretty deep too. Didn't take any pics on the glades but took a few on muleskinner and lower peachys peril. Boot is done for at least for now. The part where the set screw threads into is totally ripped out. Back at the car for a beer and figure out what to do next
-
It's good this morning. About 3" up top. Did a few powdery groomers and then started to attempt the hike to the above treeline snow fields. After like 1000 feet of trudging through waist deep snow i felt something dragging at my boot...boa coiler hanging off. Shit...popped it back on but it's not coiling or loosening. Gave up on the hike after that. Heading out muleskinner and back to the base to see if I can fix it. If not I have a spare pair in the car although brand new so they are gonna hurt
