PASR Does Jackson: Round 2 (ding ding ding)
PSUFrankenstein replied to toast21602's topic in Other Mountains
Badass. Corbett's looks pretty good...not that I'd ever attempt it though. -
Yeah, it's pretty awesome never having any crowds. Thought about going up today, but wasn't sure how much fresh snow they'd get. Their website said 5". I may go back Saturday, or possibly join you fella's at Blue.

Nice report...any day skiing/snowboarding is better than work. I should've taken off today. -
3/3/19....sausage Sunday..nice weather.

Nice report enjoralas...sausage sunday sounds awesome. Cool that you got your son out on the snow, I'm looking forward to eventually taking my daughter. Nice...I was going to skip work today, but looking at the weather last night, didn't know if it'd be worth using a vacation day. -

Some great pics, this one might be my new desktop background -
Had a pretty good day at Scranton's premier airboarding resort and waterpark... Got there around 9:30, little later than expected. Friend met me in Allentown and I drove from there. He was running late, so I picked up some beer at Whole Foods. Snow was pretty decent still when we got there, still a good bit of fresh stuff on some of the trails. White Lightning was pretty good and still some fresh snow off of the side of Smoke. Long Haul was running all day so did a bunch of runs off of that. Rattler to Cannonball was also pretty good up. Hit some of the glades off of Upper Fast Track, snow was pretty good, but a little slow, especially since that section isn't that steep. Hopefully the storm Sunday will fill some stuff in on the bottom section of the mountain. Today was Mountainfest or whatever with pond skimming, so we caught a bit of that. Not that exciting, but watched a few people wipe out. There was a local beer distributor giving out free burgers and beer at the top of the Phoebe Snow lift, which was awesome. They had cans of Troeg's Hop Knife and some Stone IPA's and lagers. Also brought along a few beers from Levante, and I picked up some Left Hand Raspberry Milk Stout at Whole Foods that was pretty good. Hit Breaker Brewing on the way home, had a flight and some tacos.

Have fun...looking forward to your report -
I'm enjoying your pics - how long is the drive home for you?

Sounds good, I'll check it out Schif. Weather.com says 5-8 inches for Montage Sunday night. I may have to take off Monday, although it's too far out to tell if they'll actually get much snow.

Nice pics, looks awesome. I've never been to Whiteface, but I need to go sometime.

Yeah...chocolate peanut butter cup is my usual
-
Awesome, thanks! Yeah I completely understand if others would have priority over me for the buddy passes. I'll post up in one of the Blue threads when I figure out when I'll be there
-
I'll definitely take you up on that if it's available. I was planning on hitting Blue anyway in March...I was planning on seeing if they did that promotion where a lift ticket costs whatever the temp is for the day, but a buddy pass is even better.
-
Will do. I'll check out the glades this time hopefully. I haven't hit them recently, but judging how the snow was off-trail this past weekend, I'd guess they probably wouldn't have been great.
-
Yeah I'm hoping things will be different this weekend, usually at least one of the double blacks is left ungroomed. I should be there again Saturday morning. I usually only stay until lunch time, but I may stay longer this time.

Philly airport parking recommendations.

I've always used SmartPark...they always have been quick and pretty cheap. I've heard good things about Winner also. -
That's pretty cool. I think Matt is still part owner but isn't really involved any more. I think he lives in CO now.

Yeah although she doesn't get out as often. Most weeknights she relaxes and I keep my daughter occupied which is probably nice for her. I've been trying to get her out on the slopes again too which I think she would enjoy. -

Shes 1(19 months to be exact). So a bit young to go skiing. Other than my in laws, no one is ever around to babysit so that doesn't help. I have been able to get out pretty much every weekend, so I cant complain too much. -

I told the wife I was going to try to ride both days next weekend if the weather cooperates. I dont think she liked the idea. Wouldn't be a big deal but my daughter is a handful and seems to misbehave more when I'm not there -
Actually I live outside of Reading (Sinking Spring). Nothing's wrong with Blue, but I couldn't pass up the $ 150 season pass to Montage. Montage is ~20 min further than Blue for me, I usually make pretty good time on 476. Honestly though, I'll pretty much ride anywhere...I'm pretty easily entertained. Planning on at least one trip to Blue later in the season. I'll have to check that out. It has actually been pretty good this year up until today. And yeah, Cloudy is great, I picked up cans of that and Tickle Parts. Last time I checked it was 10 am or so and it wasn't running. I asked and they were planning on opening it, but not sure if it ever did.

Nice - grooming is usually pretty good at JF, at least in the mornings. I haven't been to Big Boulder in a while. They usually do a race at BB called Hell Track, so that's probably what they were setting up.

Got there around 8:30 and parked in the third row. I was shooting for an 8 AM arrival but I wasn't feeling that great the past few days...my daughter was sick last weekend - she picks up all kinds of germs at day care and usually passes them on. Did a few runs on Cannonball and Runaway/Fast Track, and checked on the Long Haul (wasn't running). Conditions were pretty firm/packed powder and frozen cord. Did a few runs on smoke/boomer and then decided to crack the lift beer I was saving for the Long Haul. Lapped Boomer and Smoke for a bit and then did 3 runs on White Lightning. Pretty much everything was groomed flat except for some small bumps on the left side of White Lightning. Had a nice fall - belly flopped and slid catching a bump I didn't see. After that I checked on the Long Haul again, but still not running. I did some runs on Rattler to Cannonball and just kept hitting Boomer/Smoke. Rattler had some cookies at the top but wasn't too bad. I called it a day around 11:30 since I still wasn't feeling that great. I skipped Breaker Brewing this time...wife wants to go out to dinner and after a few beers and some food there I usually don't eat the rest of the day. I did stop at Saucony Creek in Kutztown for a quick lunch (short rib sliders and an IPA). Overall not a bad day. I was hoping the sun would come out and the snow would soften up a bit, but that didn't really happen.
