Hey everyone, So here is the plan for next week- Wednesday at 7pm- For Right or Wrong movie in the Mountain Ballroom. Doors open at 6:15. Bring a bag of ice to dump in the pond on your way in! Friday from 8-11pm- Party to honor Ullr in the Mountain Ballroom. We're planning to have live music and a "sacrifice" at 9:30. You must be 18 to enter and 21 to drink. As far as the rail jam, we discussed it today. Unfortunatly, we just don't think we'll have the snow. We'll look at things again on Tuesday, and if for some reason we change our minds, I'll let you know then. If it does happen, it would be Friday afternoon and it would probably be for passholders only. However, it really doesn't look good at this point. If anyone was planning to get me a Christmas gift (and I know you all were!), can you make it cold weather and snow? Thanks!! Mary

I also want to give a big Thank You to Andy and the rest of BC Irons Works- you guys did an awesome job pulling everything together!! I think this is a great indication of how dedicated our Park staff is and the type of commitment you can expect to see throughout the season. Also, for those of you who haven't checked it out yet, please visit our new terrain park maps. These are going to be updated as things change so that you can see exactly what is in the Parks each day. (We're still working on adding/tweaking a few things, so they aren't quite perfect yet, but should be soon.) When you click on each of the items, a box will pop up with photos and videos of that feature. Therefore, please send me all of your photos and short videos to put on the website! You can email them to me directly at MaryB@skibearcreek.com. Thanks again to everyone that came out on opening day! ~Mary

Just to clarify, we can make enough snow to open with about 75 hours of snowmaking. But keep in mind, Bear Creek likes to open with at least 80-90% of the mountain ready, not just a few trails. We have a total of 94 guns here, which is the more guns per acre than any other mountain in PA. This includes the 25 automated snow guns that are new for this season. Thanks, Mary

Okay everyone, here is the official Bear Creek word on snowmaking. We will begin blowing snow tonight. If all goes well and Mother Nature cooperates, we are going to shoot for opening on 12/12, a Tuesday. Thanks, Mary

Here is some general information about our mountain biking trails. If you want, I can also give you information about each of the specific trails. We would like to invite hikers and bikers to come explore the hills surrounding our mountain resort. Access to the trails is currently free of charge. Free? Yeah, you read it right. We only ask you follow a few simple guidelines and stop in at The Grille at Bear Creek for some post ride refreshment. Guidelines: ? Sign and submit our waiver before using the trails. This helps us keep track of who is out there and helps keep the trails free. ? Sign the user register at the trail head ? If you are not a guest of our hotel, please fill out the parking pass and display it on the dashboard of your vehicle. ? Helmets strongly recommended ? Bring a buddy, please don?t ride alone ? Ride within your ability, our trails become increasingly difficult the higher up you go. ? Ride in control and be able to stop. ? Yield to hikers and uphill riders. ? Pack it in, pack it out. Please don?t litter. ? Stay on marked trails. The ski slopes are not open for riding, they should only be crossed in designated areas. ? Make sure your bike is in good working order before heading out The trail system you will be riding is a conglomeration of years of mountain biking at Bear Creek. Portions of our old downhill and cross country race courses are included along with sections built by the Valley Mountain Bikers Club (VMB). You will also find some new sections and some re-routed sections. The trails are marked with blue, red, and yellow arrows with white backing and blue posts. If a section appears to be blocked it is intentional. These sections are either still under construction or have been re-routed. Please respect all trail markers. And, please stay off the ski slopes except in designated areas. Ski slopes are not groomed or maintained for biking or hiking. We hope you enjoy the trails, ride safe and have fun!

There will also be designated driver tickets for sale for $5 (although you still have to be at least 21 to purchase these). Designated drivers will not receive a sampling glass and will not be allowed to taste any beers. Also, the lifts will not be running and no one will be allowed past the base area.

Sorry- no discounts are available. We are only selling 1,000 tickets and we do expect to sell out. The band playing is John Frinzi. Let me know if there are any more questions!
