my brother skied ABasin today. He said.. ”The coverage was decent. And there’s nobody there which was great ...There were lots of good snow up top. Toward the bottom it became icy slush mix” Since I’ve been working remotely and will be for the foreseeable future, I’ve definitely considered making the drive and quarantining with my brother and future SIL. Its tempting...

I'm surprised that 6 people want to return to the office. I love WFH life. If I had kids, other people, or general chaos in my house - I think I would feel otherwise. It's peaceful and I'm able to get more work done at home. When this all started I built some shelves, bought a desk, and made a proper office in my guest room. Having a dedicated office makes a huge difference in productivity and being able to separate home and work life. I try to go for one walk a day around lunch. And, any conference calls that I just listen to, I try to be outside as much as possible. It breaks up the monotony.

How much higher could her electric bill be? I just compared my PECO and Water and it's slightly lower than last year.

I would love if all ski resorts required helmets. Better yet, can we prohibit people from skiing in jeans too?

Like .. there's no friends on a powder day ... there's no friends when skiing in May & June when there are only (max) 5 ski resorts open worldwide.

Impressive. Has anyone tried to get rid of Groundhog? Do you have any tips? Philadelphia Phil and I had a stare down yesterday. He was a bit snarky and waddled away but I noticed his burrowed home by my garden / the side of my house. 😑

When you say, "per capita", @Schif - I think of this clip from DJT dubbed by Sarah Cooper https://www.tiktok.com/@whatchugotforme/video/6829339308646731014

I’m at 29, excluding backcountry adventures. I’ve had mostly the Epic and Ikon pass, so most of my mountain experience is with those. And, since I lived in Colorado .. I’ve hit up a lot of the Colorado mountains but my rankings is a mix of experience, crowds, distance, etc. I kind of love the ability to hop around to different resorts in places like Colorado and Utah. I’m a grad student for about 1 more week and was able to snag a student discount Ikon pass. Woot woot. So, ironically, I made a rough ski plan. Before I switch to Epic again, I want to hit up some of the other Ikon resorts. I plan to take 2’ish road trips, fly 1-2x to Colorado/Utah, and make 1 trip to somewhere new. ROAD TRIP to NEW resorts in 20/21 (if skiing is a thing) I want to hit the top 3 at least 1. Windham 2. Killington 3. Stratton 4. Loon 5. Sunday River 6. Sugarloaf PLANNED .. 1-2 Family Ski Trips UTAH trip: Deer Valley, Alta, Brighton, Snowbird Or … COLORADO trip: Winter Park, Copper, ABasin, Steamy PLACES I WANT TO VISIT Big Sky Tremblant Blue Mountain (Canada) BUCKET LIST … Zermatt, Jackson, Aspen, Whistler, and Silverton ----------------------------------------------------- Pennsylvania 1. Elk Mountain 2. Blue Mountain 3. Camelback 4. Big Boulder 5. Jack Frost - Haven’t skied the others Vermont 1. Sugarbush 2. Okemo Colorado 1. Vail 2. Wolf Creek 3. Arapahoe Basin 4. Keystone 5. Crested Butte 6. Loveland 7. Monarch 8. Breckenridge 9. Copper 10. Winter Park 11. Steamboat 12. Beaver Creek 13. Eldora Utah 1. Alta 2. Snowbird (only #2 because it kicked my butt) 3. Deer Valley 4. Brighton 5. Solitude California 1. Heavenly 2. Northstar Canada 1. Lake Louise 2. Banff Sunshine Backcountry CMH guided tour outside of Lake Louise (Canada) Butler Gulch (Colorado) Bald Mountain, near Breck (Colorado) Mount Sherman, 14’er (Colorado) Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) Berthoud Pass (Colorado) Outside of Steamboat (Colorado) Eisenman Hut area (Colorado)

so by john deer logic ... it's not .. how fast you ski. it's how well you ski fast.

@GrilledSteezeSandwich At my old house, it was about $10k for a concrete patio slab out back + 2-3 car driveway (1 driveway wide) but it was a couple years ago in Denver. Do we have any concrete or stone companies in this group? I need my flagstone walkway reset (last time it's was done was probably like 1920...) + I need steps built from my front down down to my alley way. I hired a local company to do it but it was the worst construction job I've ever seen. They ended up taking it out and refunding my money. I'm hesitant to hire anyone who isn't a solid referral now.

you think he would ski Mt Bleu in Pennsylvania after all those gnarly lines?

I'm a fan of this series. I posted it on Random Thought Thread a couple days ago. The only downside is it makes me want to be on mountains.. Comparing the recent videos to the first 10, the sound, picture quality, and drone footage really improved.

Did you all see that there's a lawsuit for Vail/Epic refusing a refund. I see both sides but it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. https://www.law360.com/classaction/articles/1263013/vail-resorts-sued-over-ski-fees-during-covid-19 Well, today, Ikon sent an email and shifted their marketing campaigns. I get it. Everyone is hyper communicating but I wish they thought through the communication. There's no email personalization like a simple name or greeting in the line. Would be cool to have personalization tied to my ski stats and worked it into the email copy. There's no link to sign up or to be reminded in the future. There's no FAQ linked to it. For examples, Pass insurance won't cover COVID-19 closures so they don't address what they would do if there's no season. They really only mention a payment plan. Would they offer the discount to people who already paid for their pass? There's so many unknowns, I get it. But, I wish these blanket emails were crafty more thoughtfully. Here's the copy for anyone interested.

woot woot!! I love before and afters of pressure washing. This is my back deck. It's now painted with Sherwin Williams SuperDeck Exterior (deck & dock). I'm hoping to not pressure wash and scrub for a long time....

I was at the Wissahickon ski club in Conshy back in December 2017. Didn't ski, but had beers with friends (and friends of friends). It was cool little spot! It sounded like on snow days, everyone brings a crockpot and they fire up the lift. On nonsnow days, it's like a private club for drinking and hanging out with the other members and snow-lovers. Last I heard, you have to be recommended by a member. And, they were suppose to re-do their new member bylaws earlier this year. The committee (well use to) meet on Tuesdays. Here are some cool little pics that I snapped in 2017. I was enamored with the place. inside decor. There's articles of the skiing history in the area the front patio of their lodge inside the cabin, there's a fireplace and, the ski hill lite up at night

eh. not to be a negative nancy but I'm warry about the NY Post reporting on the finance side. If you look into the author's article history, you'll see that it tends to be very sensational headlines. https://nypost.com/author/noah-manskar/ I think I'll wait until the WSJ writes a more credible article.
