Having gone to school in western PA I to remeber those couple of weeks...Luckily I got to come home to OC and enjoy 4 great months.

fighting your way up to the top is all on you...driving you all over the place and paying for everthing is all on your parents...some kids are not that fortunate.

it's a very similar situation in many sports...often times young kids who have true talent don't get recognized, because their parents don't make enough money to ship them all over the country to compete. As a kid growing up surfing in the OCSA and ESA I saw a lot of poor kids who were just as good as me if not better never get recognized because they couldn't afford to travel up and down the east coast earning points.

one of the negatives of going to school in the northeast...by the time it gets warm enough to enjoy seasonal clothing the semester has ended.

5 years, not to mention a couple of summer classes here and there. You probably didn't notice me at homecoming as I was just one of the many drunk fraternity asshole type guys there. The greek scene was completely out of control, you may have caught the episode of unsolved mystery's where the one fraternity killed one of there pledges, threw him down an outside stair case and shoved food down his throat to make it appear as if he choked to death. That is just one of the many fraternity death or near death cases that are on record. The scene has calmed down a bit since the early 90's, of the 29 Frat's in 95 there are now just 6...all of the others lost there charters or were sued or banned by the college. Mine is still there...I have no idea how.

agreed...the climate at IUP is definitely not one of academia. After graduating from there and then going to grad school at a real college I was in shock and not prepared. I was there from 94 to 99, were you at any of those homecomings?

Although I was pre-med my first 2 years at IUP it never panned out...which is why I'm not a plastic surgeon but a teacher/business owner.

I would give discounts to any member of this board...But I think only atomic has a home near me and if his father ever needed any kind of exterior improvements I would take care of him.

I would rather not mention the name...we had a small store front and dealt largely with ecommerce. After a couple of pretty decent years my partners and I took the profits and re-invested them in different areas. The name itself is still around, just being used in a completely different market, which is why I would rather not post it on this board.
