  1. Are you less than 5 miles away?
  2. Get one of those little scooters. I think they go like 12MPH.
  3. Most of the Bars near Lake Harmony are filled with old dudes drinking and smoking their life away at 11:00 in the morning. If you are ever looking for a place to hang out.
  4. Nice...If I'm solo it's McD's. I feel like a drunk sitting at the bar eating lunch by myself and drinking beers or I would have stopped at Barley creek. When my wife, brother or friends are with me we go somewhere a little nicer than the Golden Arches and I get to spend more on lunch than the cost of the lift ticket.
  5. CB is 30 min. or about 20 miles from Briar crest. But from down here it's about the same. I get off at the allentown exit and take 22 east to 33 north to 80 west. I don't drive that fast in PA, since the only ticket I got in the last 10 years came from a PA Trooper. When I'm in NJ I push it a little bit harder. Probably a Saturday before Spring Break and then maybe a week day during spring break, if they are still open.
  6. I'll do my best to get up there at least once.
  7. Hey All, I got back early from another cannonball run to the Poconos and back. I left at 5:30AM and had an easy drive to the Big City of Tannersville, PA. I arrived in the 1st lot at 8:15 and could have parked in the first row, but because I'm anal with my cars I opted to park in the last row of the 1st lot and walk the extra 75ft. This way all the NY J-offs don't have an opportunity to bounce their equipment off my ride. Back in 2003 I walked up to my car to find someone leaning his equipment up against my car, as he was getting ready, I practiced my Javelin throw with his skis. I went in to Guest services and got my free ticket, thanks Craig you are the man! I was on the snow minutes later and heading up the Stevenson. I warmed up on Nile with two quick runs and it was empty and the snow was great, a nice grippy cord with no ice. I then hit Cliffy 4 times and it was also empty with the same great conditions, I think I have only seen it that way a handful of times in the 15 plus years I have been going to CB. Next I hit Pharaoh 6 times in a row and observed people on it from the lift with out making the all to familiar scrapping sound. I rode the lift with a Yellow Jacket who told me that in the "Ranger Room" everyone was saying, "today is the day we get our mountain back", He also told me they would be open till April. I chuckled at that and thought if CB stays open longer than Blue, Doug will be pissed. He then went on to tell me about how this is the first year that their groomers can groom up hill, because of some wench on the front of the groomers, so all the snow gets pushed back up the hill at the end of the day. After my conversation I headed to race way and lapped it, I was the only one on it for over an hour, the triple that accesses it was not running, so most people ignored it, but not me, I took advantage of it. I then went back to Nile and spent an hour lapping it, as it is one of my favorite trails in PA. By 12:15 I was beat and decided to call it a day. I was very impressed with CB today and from an old non-park guy I think when it is empty it is one of the top 3 places in all of PA. I wish I had a set up where I lived closer and did not have to work during the day, midweek. BDK is very lucky. I should have been a trooper, then I would be off at least a couple days a week and been able to take advantage of it. On my way home I blasted in to downtown Win Gap and hit the McDonalds for a chicken sandwich, cheeseburger, fries and a Coke. I then headed home, man I hate the drive home. I hope to get to Blue at least once before the end of the season, but only if I can score a spring fling coupon. I need an incentive to make the drive and ski one of the most congested ski areas east of the Mississippi.
  8. Can they be dug up from the old thread? Here are some... http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.p...hl=grass+skiing
  9. Post the pics of you maniacs...
  10. I should learn the proper use of "their" before making fun of the women of Briar Crest.
  11. Don't worry Barb I already know 3 families that have homes in there, 4 including you. If I buy back there I'll throw a huge bash and we will snub all the local ladies with there 8th grade educations.
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of JFBB passholders who are not interested in park riding. Or Blue holders that are closer to CB, although I would bet that most pass holders at Blue are closer to Blue than CB.
  13. If someone is close to CB and is bored of skiing their home mountain it's a great deal, especially if they can get out midweek.
  14. I thought you said it was zero when you woke up. What if they have a 50 degree day, the mayor of Lake Harmony will have to call in the National Guard.
  15. Are you staying in the Big City (Scranton) or moving out the the suburbs?
  16. Plus you can roll it in to next years pass. I wish blue would offer something like that, since I could manage that drive a little better.
  17. Next year I'm going to get there early, ski till noon and then tailgate and watch the box sled thing.
  18. Are they hiring?
  19. I think next year is going to be out of control. Once something like this gets rolling it just grows bigger and bigger every year.
  20. It was cold, but with zero wind and a sunny sky all was good.
  21. The Allentown rest stop needs to open up.
  22. Park staff seems like a thankless job. I think there are 100 complaints to every one compliment.
  23. I don't mind the ride up, but I'm getting sick of the ride home. When I was a weekend warrior, I would go up Fri., come back down on Sun. and I didn't mind it at all. No Direct route from CB to OC. 80 East, to 33 south, to 22 West, to NE south.
  24. Hey all, I got home earlier from a great morning session at JF. I left here at 5:30 AM and got off the NE extension at 8:09. I know it was 8:09 because my wife called to ask me if I took a sick day, family sick day or personal day, because my Vice Principal called my house looking for my cell phone number. She asked people at work, but they all played dumb. Everyone who knows me knows that my business line which is very easy to remember rings directly to my cell phone after the 3rd ring. Anyway I took a personal day, so I was in the clear. It appears that the substitute went to the wrong room and did not find my student teacher, since she was in the right room. I called school and talked to my secretary and she solved the problem. Problem solved, so I started booting up when Kragan pulled in at about 8:20, we both managed to score spots in the first lot. On the way up I saw several cardboard box sleds traveling up the NE extension and new today was going to be a real shit show. We hit the snow and worked our way over towards the East Mountain, lapping each trail twice. Conditions were perfect and the best I have experienced all season. When we hit the East Mountain it was in great shape. I started skiing JF in the 1980's and today the East Mountain was in its best form ever. We spent a couple hours lapping it and then worked our way back towards the center of the mountain. By 12 the place was turning in to a mess so we called it a day. On the way out on the access road traffic was backed up to 940, I have never witnessed this before in my 25 plus years visiting the Poconos. The scene in the parking lot reminded me of when I attended IUP and used to go to Ground Hog Day in Punxatauney. Tons of tailgating and 90% of the people had no intention of skiing, just like 90% of the People have no intention of seeing the Ground Hog. I wish we could have stayed, but drinking 50 beers and driving home 160 miles would not set a good example for the younger members of PASR or Doug. We decided to do lunch at The Terra Cottage, I busted up a Monte Christo and KR had a short stack with fresh scrapple. After lunch I drove through Briar Crest, where Barb lives and looked at a couple of places for sale. Me buying a place there in the near future, if my kids take to skiing is pretty much a definate. From there I headed to CB to get my board waxed and sharpened. The dude did it in less than 20 minutes and CB picked up the tab, as it was part of my gift package from the beginning of the season. I hit the road to come home at 2:00 and did not get home until after 6:00, because i got stuck in traffic. I would like to thank: Kragan for taking off work and skiing with me. Ski for the advice on the new skis I just bought. Kragan for being one of, if not the best dude on skis at JF today and getting me stoked to get back on the sticks. Lauren, my student teacher for baby-sitting 5th graders while I was having fun. The staff at my school for lying to my Vice Principal. Craig from CB for hooking me with the free tune. WMMR for the cheap ticket.
  25. But her third season on skis. Size 6
