đAgree with @Johnny Law âs Friday opening date estimate.
-
Very encouraging near term anyway.

A little dust for me but looks like it stayed East and north. Blue had a lift spinning earlier on the main st cam but no snow except for maybe a spotty 2â at summit cam .

Anyone have any low tide no base places to skin and ski in the Poconos? My regular places need a good 14-16 without a base.

And an inch of rain for us , seems awkward cheering for rain. Thereâs lots of oils from cars imbedded in macadam that could float up with the rain so driving might be interesting at first. I regenerated my neutralizer on my water system at home a week ago and my well level went down quite a bit but recovered. None of my neighbors have had wells run dry so far. Hoping for a dusting at my place so I can ski some fast grass.

Blue lucked out that the wind wasnât like the last two days.

A whole 1/4â of rain coming Sunday! Clean out those gutters. More Wednesday/Thursday?

I was thinking along the terms of the flames touching the haul rope and changing the temper. I think an insurance company might condemn it for safety reasons, even though there might be very little visual damage. Good news to hear that the fire wonât make it there.
-
My worst case scenario was Blue ended up emptying the ponds fighting off the fire and having some lift damage. I havenât checked the fire status lately. Some rain in the forecast Sunday đ¤

You could help even more. Fly over and drop some water balloons. đ

Iâm old and remember a brush fire that started near Parryville along 248 and traveled 5 miles East and in a day . It skipped roads pretty quickly. There was a 20 mph wind. I didnât know it was going and drove through Palmerton to Beltzville and ended up driving through it . I remember a dude who was fighting it with a hose. His grass was burning and it traveled around the house. I passed an acre of pine trees that were fully engulfed. We lucked out so far.

They had two running most of the day. They were filling up in the Lehigh by the gap but the wind changed direction and blew the smoke over the area.

Back burn from Timberline rd. Hopefully it doesnât make any more eastward progress đ¤

My concern is there are some hemlock trees that are on the north side of the ridge not too far away, and the winds forecast to kick up out of the south tomorrow. Hopefully they knock it down before it gets to that point because it could be an issue for blue . It looks like itâs traveled about a half mile east even though the winds are out of the east . iâm sure the BlueMountain crew is gaming out some scenarios for firing up the snow making equipment thatâs mobile just in case.
-
Yes, for now although I think this fire is going to be very dangerous. Winds are supposed to pick up out of the South tomorrow. Hopefully it doesnât end up on the North side.
-
Yes they have done in incredible job of restoring the ridge on the East and West sides of the gap. I probably have some old aerial photos from the 70âs where everything for a mile in either direction is dead . From what I saw on the video it looks like the top and South side of the ridge East of the river is whatâs involved. That area is huge boulders and some white pines and Hemlocks. I donât think itâs part of the restoration that youâre referring to. My Niece has some relatives on Timberline rd . Last nights report sounded like the fire was moving south slowly. At least the wind has tamed down.

Blue is safe, the fire is a few miles away.

My wife sent me this, thought it was from an eruption from Hawaii at first glance. Walnutport fire!!! Justin Selig live stream.
