  1. 😂 glad to expand your vocabulary. I did make some pickles- I usually just make fridge pickles instead of full blown canning and processing although I have done that in other seasons. I made cuke and zuke pickles and some years make dilly green bean pickles. They’re my favorite to put in bloody marys
  2. Summer has been busy for the garden. The season has closed on zucchini (rip), potatoes, garlic and onions. The tomatoes just started turning this week- very late season but looking really healthy. Cukes and still kicking- this is the latest in the summer I’ve ever had them and I think it’s due to growing them vertically. Tomatillos and peppers are coming into their own and I’m waiting patiently for my dellacata, honey nut and more of the red kuri squash go turn. Also, the yard beans are a fun addition. These last two summers I’ve been doing a semi-companion planting, mostly using borage and calendula along with zinnias to brighten up the garden and drive in more pollinators. So far this has been a highly productive season. Anyone do a fall planting? I sowed carrots- hoping for a later freeze and to get a little something out of what would have been empty space; also beans, peas, spinach soon and planning to also put in colder varieties of winter bok choy and romaine for when the temps cool off a bit.
  3. That many blueberries sounds like a dream. For years my dad had blueberry bushes. He had a bush that produced berries larger than a quarter every year. That bush died a few years ago, he still has two others that are late season producers but they are eraser sized berries. Still better than none!
  4. Train the children LOL. Becky's been my garden apprentice since she was able to tottle around.
  5. I've never heard of them but that sounds awesome. I highly recommend Misty Valley Farms off of Kreidersville Road outside of Northampton, they're a greenhouse, have a farm stand and chickens. I think they grow mostly heirloom - I recognize a lot of their items from Baker Creek seed company which is one of my favorites.
  6. I love edge of the woods! I went a few years ago - purchased elderberry, mountain mint and something else (I wish I could remember what). and could have spent hours there. I have a whole list of plants / trees and shrubs I want to get from there, when we have the space. I've propogated elderberry cuttings to add more to our yard over the years... I'm forever squeezing annuals flowers in anywhere I see an open space - I've been trying out companion planting in the garden, too. I'm going to try calendula and safflower in the veggie garden this year. I really like statice , I had trouble getting seeds to germinate when I tried them in the past though.
  7. The warm weather in April gave a big head start to get the garden looking good. Last month I sowed onions, beets, kale, carrots, parsnips, spinach and lettuce. The strawberries and blueberries are are already in bloom, I noticed a rogue potato popped up the other day (must have missed it last year). I even dug the canna bulbs into the flower bed, so hopefully with the next warm up they will start to poke through. Waiting for night time temps to plant the indoor seedlings: 4 kinds of tomatoes this year, jalapenos, tomatillos, cukes, zukes, dellacata squash. This year I added two cattle panel arches and am hoping to grow most of the vining squash and vine beans off of those. I'm planning to direct sow vining lima beans, pole beans, Illinois long neck squash and per becky boo's request cantaloupe. Keeping my eyes on those night time temps. Whats everyone else growing?
  8. @mute1080 Becky and I had a great night, played around on Razors, Coming Soon and Main Street. BB got redemption from Saturday's tears on coming soon, and had a fun run down Razors with @Schif @MattEDGE and @skiincy. Becky did get up close and personal with the sign on home stretch, and got to chat with a ski patrol as we ended our session. It was a great way to spend day 50 on the slopes.
  9. Tonight was amazing, the dreams that spring skiing are made of. We had a Tuesday night kids ski club Becky, Blake’s kids, and three generations of @enjoralas. Highlight of the night was heading down razors with munchkins plowing down the slope. Core memory was made tonight.
  10. The Mute's are bringing a box of joe, I'm going to make some cupcakes and marinated meat for @enjoralas to grill
  11. Just got back from a quick afternoon session. Arrived around 1215, it was 34 at the lower lodge. The first lift was surprisingly deceptive. It looked like there was cord. First run was down lazy and it was firm, lots of dust, but you had to hunt to find it. Ended up doing about 5 runs in an hour, the wind was working against me to get downhill. Upper main was rock solid but lower had a nice little pocket on the side. We talked about double dipping for tonight but not sure.
  12. We renewed on Friday night and didn’t have an issue (surprisingly) this weekend
  13. She was so stoked to go down the remainder of the trails today. Snow was perfect for her to explore on today
  14. I like it, too. The chair itself is high for for the tiny folk in our party but hopefully in a season that won't be an issue anymore... I love the ease of access to widowmaker. We hardly ever went on it previously because we avoided the doubles. My hope for next year though is they figure out some way to ease congestion for getting on the lift - or getting off the snow. Its like a game of chicken to get through people and the sea of skis left at the edge of the snow. I love that we never wait in line anymore though.
  15. Becky & I will be there Saturday. Becky-less Sunday.
  16. Holy shit. We had to buy Becky an adult season pass this year just to not have restrictions. So pleased to see the 9 and under option
  17. Becky and I got on the snow around 915, and skied until around 1130ish with Justo, Rose and their little one. Conditions changed with each run but it was good, but paradise sure is getting thin around the second turn. They might need to scrape the snow together for a bridge if they don’t get the temps to blow a patch on it overnight.
  18. Hollenbecks is on my list for sure. Hoping for a good day, they’ve been blowing since noon yesterday and while he had dinner they were still cranking. Also looks like we got an inch or two of fresh overnight, and looking out the cabin they’re still blowing at Greek.
  19. Double dip tonight was worth it, I think Main Street was the run of the night, lots of fun bumps to play in on upper main. Lazy was a close second. Switch was completely scraped off, powdered sugar on an ice cube. Crowds were light, skied right onto every lift, lots of kids out on the mountain but steering clear of paradise and Burma and there was usually only 1 other person on the trail. Sunday nights remain my favorite night… but Super Bowl night is extra special whoops wrong thread!
  20. Today was fun- first time that we were the last ones in the lot. Our friends didn’t get at first why we were so specific where we park, but after returning to the lot for a break they totally got it. Thanks @enjoralasfor the feast. I was shocked with how crowded the slopes were staying out so much later, but people were not going at Mach speed like they do on weeknights, which was a refreshing change with kids in tow. Looking forward to heading back up for a double dip during the Super Bowl.
  21. Last night we got on the snow about 515, we could see the guns running for a refresh on the mountain and full blast at tubing. First run was Main Street, and it was a complete ice rink. But not just an ice rink, the special kind with sticky sticky piles of freshly blown snow. I think I had a flashback to that Saturday morning on tuts lane. We only made it three runs thanks to icy conditions and getting stuck on the quad for about 10 minutes. When Becky’s lesson was over we were outta there, couldn’t get the boots off fast enough.
  22. We saw this last night. Becky was like a moth to a flame, so distracted trying to get up to the lift
  23. We're not raising a fair weather skiier over here 😂
  24. Just came back from a night session with Becky. It was a balmy 42 when we pulled into the lower lot around 545, which was surprisingly full. We stuck with the quad for tonight and on our first ride up homestretch looked like a sea of waves… not bumps, but perfectly parallel waves. It was like wet sand, but honestly it wasn’t awful. Lower paradise had spots down to dirt and glacier but the piles between it were honestly fun. Crazy mile was just that… wild with groups of 15-20 boarders at a clip. Had to pull over a few times to make sure the little wouldn’t be a hit and run. Only annoying part was the perpetual black hole on lazy, perhaps they can borrow a colored light from tubing since they can’t seem to be bothered to replace the bulb that’s been out since the start of the season. Playing in the push piles is typical Sunday night skiing (especially this year), overall fun night.
