Nice perk for unlimited pass holders
Justin replied to RidgeRacer's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Yeah thats for the VIP pass only. You need to validate your pass and get a ticket, and the window isn't open then. Stupid policy IMO... -
Yeah I'm skipping today as well. I have to stay after school until 4 so I wouldn't be up there until much later. Tuesdays are always at least my one weekday skiing day, I have no 7th period so I get out at 2...steezy. See everybody tomorrow around 3:30....hopefully we get some more trails and better snow. I need to get in shape for Stowe this weekend.

'01 GTI. 1.8T as you guessed, K04 turbo swap, GIAC Stage 2, FMIC, Forge TIP, soon to be Water/Meth and advanced timing. I put a 20th/337 front lip on it, and I have a fresh rear bumper with a 20th lip on that as well in my garage that I'm going to put on in the spring. BTW this year I match perfectly, even with my skis. Black and Green everywhere...and it was unintentional.

My Aeryx jacket is obnoxiously green, and I love it. A lot of people look at me funny, it's great. I think it's safe to say this year I stand out.
-
Wow all time low...what kind of sick asshole would do that. Talk about a stoke killer. My car got broken into for an iPod and $10 in my school lot, I definitely feel your pain.
-
Black pants ftw....I got a little orange on my pants from blue, but all my gear needs washing anyway.
-
We'll ask the front desk....they can probably discount us. But were kind of keeping it hush hush that a 3rd person is going to avoid the double occupancy fee.
-
That's basically what we paid....but then again we're 30 minutes from Stowe. I don't mind the drive, plus we're cooking breakfast in the parking lot with my camping stove, make our own fresh sausage

Yeah I meant 3 days 2 nights. It's booked. We found a place called the Hilltop Inn in Montpelier, 29.2 miles from Stowe. $67/night, came out to $151. Works out to be $50 a head for lodging. Stowked!!!!

Sounds like it was OK. I had my alarm set just in case but it was pouring here so I decided to stay home. I'll be up tomorrow or tuesday anyway so I'm not worried about it. And they should be opening Burma soon....along with Paradise. They need to get more green slopes open.

I've went to Woodward skate camp for 6 years. Instruction has always been a joke there, I only learned stuff from skating with my friends and just skating a lot in general. But skateparks are a lot different than snow parks, for one they don't melt in the summer. Good skate spots are consistent any time of the year basically. Like I said, I've went down the COC road before. It's just not worth it to me. I'd much rather have a week skiing in perfect winter conditions, with a pristine park, than skiing melted hits on a glacier with unpredictable weather. But hey, everybody's different. Nevertheless, with all the research I've done, COC is the best camp out there if you plan on doing it, and Papasteeze will confirm this fact. I just think that summer skiing camps as a whole are not worth the money. It's $1300+GST for the cheapest session, which is only 3 days on snow, with the weather at your mercy. Oh and this still doesn't include airfare. Atomic Jeff was telling me how he got 7 days/5 ski days in Jackson Hole, with airfare, ground transportation, and slopeside lodging for the same price of $1300. So just consider that fact as well. And in response to the nazi rules post, if I'm paying all that money to go on a ski vacation, I'm doing whatever I want. If I want to go out and enjoy myself after a day of skiing, I wouldn't want someone telling me I have to be in bed at a certain time, or even wake up at a certain time for that matter. But like I said everybody is different...thats my view on summer camps. If going to COC will make you happy, then go for it. She asked for feedback and opinions, and she got mine.

Cheapest place I could find was the Mountaineer Inn at $89/night. I think some other places were booked because I noticed a lot less choices this morning. Anyway, the total cost comes down to $195.80 for 2 days 3 nights, with a max occupancy of 4. Split three ways thats about $65 a head, which really isn't bad. With the $150 2 day lift at Stowe and food it should be around $300 each if n0xidee can use his gas card.

IMO any of the summer camps are not worth it. For the same price you can have a solid week of skiing anywhere out west. It's not the summer, but I would much rather ski epic winter conditions out west than a bunch of melting rails and booters on a glacier in the summer. If you really want summer skiing, then don't forget you could always plan a South America or NZ trip, where their winter is our summer so powder days will happen. Most people forget to mention the fact that sometimes they have rain or ice storms on the glacier as well. My friend went to Windell's and lost 3 days of skiing because of that. Glacier skiing is way unpredictable to pay well over $2k just for a week. I know that includes instruction, but that is a trade off for planning your own trip obviously. Keep in mind that you're 18. Do you really want to go to a summer camp with a bunch of kids? I know they have adults that go there, but think of all the nazi rules you'd have to follow. I went through this last year, I was going to go to COC last summer. Then after calculating airfare, spending money (dinner is not provided), all on top of the camp price, I decided to save my money for an adventure out west. If I did go then I wouldn't be going to VT over winter break for sure.

Forecast says light freezing rain, GSS confirmed that. Good thing I slept in today. I'll be up tomorrow or tuesday. Trying to get some more days in before my VT trip, need to get more in shape.
-
It's looking like me and n0xidee will be taking a trip to Stowe from 12/21-12/23. Skiing 12/22 and 12/23. This is my first VT trip, so I have no clue where to stay. Looking for the cheapest place possible, any recommendations? No problem if it's a bit of a drive from the mountain. I did some research and the cheapest place that was availible on gostowe.com was $79/night. I know you guys know where to stay, any help would be appreciated. It's probably going to be me and n0xidee, maybe another. So maximum of 3 heads. Thanks

Pooring in Philly. Most likely sleeping in tomorrow.

Trip Report Saturday Dec 15th - good start to season
Justin replied to NJSkiFamily's topic in Camelback
Paninis are good, why can't blue have them But then again they have the amazing Booter Mtn Drive-In....so close to home, you kick yourself for not coming sooner. -
If I'm lapping a trail at Blue, after like 3 hours I start to really ski like shit from being tired. That's when I take a break and spend the rest of the day in the park. 6-8 hours of lapping would just wind up hurting, you're prone to making mistakes which kills your stoke. Not to mention it would get hella frustrating.
-
I'll be there the 22nd and 23rd, yeehaw.
-
I doubt it. Blue usually only opens new trails on fridays. They were blowing on some of Challenge, Sidewinder Park, and I think Paradise. Sidewinder wont be open until at least mid-January. The lower parts where the bus is has practically no snow at all.

Today was probably the most fun I've had all season. Everybody else pretty much covered the conditions, and GSS even described what I had to eat at the delicious Booter Mountain Drive-In. Conditions were super good this morning, delicious hard pack that was really fun to ski on. After about 10am Lazy Mile became a human slalom course, and everything was really skied down and granular (time to ski the park). I was about to make a right turn from the far side of Lazy Mile when some idiot turned left directly into me. Rode over my right ski which forced my tips to cross and I went down pretty hard, but no ejaculation of the skis. Killed my stoke for the day, so I took a break and got some breakfast. Went back up to the boot at around 11:15, skied the park myself until 12:50 and had some fun again. Just got in about 40 minutes ago, and I'm beat. All in all fun weekend. Props to A-Jeff for letting me sleep on his sofa, and GSS for not getting mad about his ridiculously strong rear bumper. Time to order a new grill, clean the fresh roadkill of my skirts, UPS the fresh meat to GSS for breakfast this week, and bang out with a nap. Hoping for a dump tomorrow....but it's looking like icicles will be falling from the sky.

Not sure if they're blowing tonight, they aren't on their webcam.

It was peer pressure. GSS, A-Jeff, xNick, and Chippy want to vidchat with you.

Got out of school at 12:15. Locked the keys in my cars that delayed my leaving time until 1:30. Rolled up to Blue at 3:15, booted up, then met Jeff at the top from the 6-pack. Took a run and met up with Grilled Steeze and Phillycore. Lapped Lazy Mile to Falls for a good while. Mixed it up with the bumps once. After Jeff left for beef stew, me, Grilled Steeze, and Phillycore hit up the park. Grilled Steeze was getting some sweet wedges on the rollercoaster box. After that him and Phillycore took a run down to the lodge while I hit the park a few times and left. Met Grilled Steeze at the Booter Mtn. Drive-in and headed back to Jeff's place. Rearended GSS on the 22 on-ramp, some ass cut in front of us while I was accelerating trying not to lose GSS. Slammed on the brakes and just tapped the back of his bumper. Broke my grill and scratched the paint, but I'll take it. Now we're chilling in a vidchat with xNick11 and about to enjoy some SFRB. Looking forward to tomorrow.
