  1. the resorts weren't officially opened yet so they weren't doing avy control.
  2. RIP jamie pierre. he unfortunately died today in a pre-season avy slide while hiking alta. quite a few people were also hurt apparently today from man triggered avys around alta. dont know how many people on here knew his skiing but the dude was incredible. he dropped a 255ft cliff last year:
  3. I looked into going to school in BC. schools are cheap but the student visa from what I read up on may or may not be a bitch to get. I think you have to prove that you can support yourself financially while you're there to get one since you're not allowed to legally work unless it's on campus. if you can get a work permit it'd be a lot easier I can imagine. seemed all too complicated and not worth the effort so I ditched the idea and decided on VT. im sure paolo can explain in depth since he's actually doing it.
  4. interesting. might head up
  5. holy threadjack batman
  6. come to blue mountain where we ski so slow it'll give you a headache.
  7. the speedo might be a little useful. other than that I think it's a little much
  8. http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/08/mod-and-mod-live-android-ski-goggles-give-extreme-analytics-we/ $299....ridiculous
  9. he's a little too short to be 15
  10. that day was still awesome. most of the crowd was just people standing around in front of features. the lift line wasn't even too bad. I had so much fun cutting through everyone not to mention skiing with all of my friends. super early season is all about the rails. if you want to make turns you're better off staying home
  11. I was surprised snowboard pipe happened before freeskiing....
  12. he's from PA....representing our state in the olympics is fucking awesome
  13. not sure how many people care on this board but just read the article today. can't wait to see this in 2014. U.S. team is announced: Tom Wallisch Alex Schlopy Gus Kenworthy Bobby Brown Sammy Carlson real curious to see what other countries teams will be like. so stoked to see freeski slope in the olympics. step in the right direction for sure. http://espn.go.com/action/freeskiing/story/_/id/7186141/us-freeskiing-slopestyle-team-named
  14. why is there no option for the catskills
  15. 16. well I moved to CO two years ago and had to move back in summer, so yeah. moving this summer probably to VT. I can't really stand living in philly for any long term right now
  17. anyone gettin in on the timbo rail jam tomorrow?
  18. in a nutshell it defines my love/hate relationship with philly....I didn't get love or hate there, I got rage because love and hate is wayyy too black and white. I feel like rage is the best way to describe what philly does to me. sometimes it's a good kind of rage, sometimes its a bad kind of rage. regardless it will always be a permanent part of my life.
  19. sorry bro but that's pretty ass backwards to relate tattoos to old fashions and styles. you must not have any ink yourself or never seen someone with a real meaningful tattoo. if you're getting some cheezy flash art that you picked off a wall, then maybe you're right in that sense but a tattoo should be unique and meaningful, NOT a fashion statement. if you're getting one to be cool, trendy, and fashionable then pick up an fucking ed hardy longsleeve shirt....don't get ink pulverized into your skin that will never go away without the help of lasers. I personally hate when people attack tattoos, it's the ignorance of the american public and the consistent bad tattoos, artists, and decisions of 16 year olds that give tattoos a bad rep. I got this one done summer of 09: takes up my whole right calf. no regrets, never will have any. it's a definitive part of my life and when it's done will tell a story about a part of me that will never go away. eventually when I get more money I'm gonna add more color and detail, add the fountain and have some more artwork go all the way down and cover up to the top of my foot. i'm also planning on a 1/2 sleeve on my left arm stretching to my back...one day. time with a good artist costs money. my guy charges $125/hr...but then again he's usually booked up to three months with work and is always traveling and shit...
  20. definitely no 65 footers. 1st is maybe a real quick 15-20ft step down depending on how deep you take it, 2nd big side is about a 30-35ft step down, 3rd big is definitely no bigger than a 50ft step down....but it's not very poppy so you hit the landing real quick. I kinda suck at determining jump lengths but I'd say that sounds about right basing off time in the air, if anything I underestimated them. I'm not one to really care about length though, I care more about how they're built. landings are wide, long, and steep for PA at least and lips are really nice.
  21. actually still waiting on the call. might be off tomorrow. ill let you know. what happened to editing privs?
  22. blue is almost always an all around fun time, considering the weather doesn't blow that day. they've got some nice semi-long runs, dece bumps (steeps are almost non-existent) but the best part about that place is the two high speed lifts. I can't stand slow doubles. park setup is very fun right now, they truly have something for everyone's ability and the vibe is very good and friendly in every park unlike some other places (cough...boulder). you might see some people doing high speed park laps like myself and catch the occasional snake, but other than that there's nothing to worry about. setup even in the big park (sidewinder) isn't even that big and come around and lower park have lots of small very progressive features. jumps aren't too big and have some nicely built landings so you don't need to worry about your kids killing themselves on huge jumps, they're all for the most part very safe and well built. plus I don't know how much of a deal this is to you but they just remodeled the summit lodge, it's real nice and a cool place to hang out for a second, or boot up in if you're a lodge booter. all around it's a super fun sizable mountain in PA that I think everyone can have fun at. it's kept me going there for 10+ years and I still have lots of fun every time I ski there despite just moving back from CO....I like to visit other places like CB and boulder every now and then but I don't think i'll ever buy a pass to anywhere other than blue as long as I live in PA.
  23. working tomorrow, yes I finally got a job. im down for friday
  24. their base was actually pretty solid considering all the rain and bullshit the past few days. it would be nice to blow to freshen things up in sidewinder at least, after the weekend it'll need some reshaping
  25. no skating rink today, just perfect spring conditions with some firmness under the mush to keep speed. perrrrrfect park snow, jumps were so nice, speed wasn't even an issue until later in the day. hope they blow though sometime soon
