  3. I get some good sunrises at the dog park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. And I learned I should not leave my rooftop racks opened (at least in the park). When we got back to the car they were flipped open all the way backwards and all effed up.
  5. 3 of us headed up to Hidden Valley in RMNP. As usual the wind in the parking lot was insane. It was 15 degrees so the wind made it pretty brutal. We booted up and just as we were putting our packs on a ranger came up and asked me if I could back my car up a bit. I guess the first person in the lot parked a little too far forward and everyone followed suit. But moving my car would not have made a bit of difference so I kindly told her no. Wasn’t about to fish out my keys etc etc. As we started to ascend we realized how bare it was, rocks everywhere. Whatever new snow they got was totally wind scoured. We did not ascend too much when we decided to turn around. I mean it was bad, like 2-3” of snow on rocks. We asked a ranger on the way out if he knew of a place we could just skin on flat ground that actually had snow. So we drove to the gate at Rainbow Curve on Trail Ridge Rd and parked at the gate. Snow looked better. We knew we wouldn’t be descending anything but we drove all the way out there. We started skinning and the wind was calm on that side, which was not too far away from where we were but different aspect I guess. The snow on the road was only a few inches and our pole plants were on asphalt but the skis were on snow. We went until we ran out of snow about a mile in around a curve that the wind picked up again. So we just turned around and went back. Was a bummer not to be able to grab a burger in town since no place has indoor dining right now. But we did hear Berthoud Pass parking lot was full by 7:15 and a total shit show. 6. That’s one way to do it if you don’t have a ski rack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Crested Butte seems to be one of the bullseye’s of the storm. As luck would have it I have a lull in renters Mon-Fri so I am going to take advantage. Made ski reservations Tues/Wed/Thurs. Going to also demo some skis and make a decision on something and get rid of my Black Pearl’s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Haha pulling back more layers. More into it out here. Especially since I have friends that actually want to ski. Winters in NJ were pretty boring with the ladies in town, lots of candle parties. Lol. Nobody ever wanted to do anything fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. @toast21602 weather has been super dry and backcountry snow is pretty bad right now. There is snow moving in tonight through Saturday. I had planned to do a tour w a group on Sunday at Berthoud Pass but now rethinking that since everyone will be out right after the snow. Plus I70 seems to have some construction back ups that totally sucked today. @Mixilplix super easy going up a groomed run. Only hassle is you have to stick to the extreme side of the trail so when it starts to get steep you can’t make your own line and switchback up. Just have to embrace the suck and go straight up the fall line.
  10. Went to Winter Park for some uphill today. (Pic not me). Conditions were nice! It’s a weird vibe skinning at a resort. Lots of people whizzing by out of control, one guy wiped out near me. Still a good cardio workout, but not sure I would go back for it. Always nice to be outside no matter what. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. Send me a Pm with your dates and where you are staying. I am sure we could meet up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Great video first time I have seen it thanks
  14. Saw some pictures from Winter Park today. They are basically one of the only places currently not requiring reservations. Lift lines looked insane. Between that, the Eldora and Copper parking reservations I am think I made the right call deferring my Ikon Pass until next season.
  15. There is a walk mode and a downhill mode. On the uphill I Also have buckles very loose. But I need a boot adjustment. When I tighten them, the highest buckles are way too tight even on the loosest setting.
  16. ^ yes. Been intimidated to go to Berthoud because it is so busy and not sure what is what. I just got a guide book specifically for the pass that has all the lines, slope angle, avalanche hazard etc. Hopefully a tour there is in my near future.
  17. It’s at the base on Berthoud Pass on the east side. Took me about an hour 20 min.
  18. Headed up to Jones Pass today and arrived about 7:40. My friend and I didn’t carpool since we are not in each other’s immediate bubbles. It was cold at the start but quickly warmed up, sun shining snd no wind. We passed lots of happy smiling faces, everyone just stoked to be out. Skinning up always gives me a reality check on what rotten shape I am in. We just did the road, not the bowl. I put a new setting on my watch for “outdoor sports” not sure why it said I did 10 runs. 19. This summer will be an even 10, will have to celebrate.
  20. No traffic this morning. Even though I have been doing a lot of squats and hiking, legs still feel sore. I am definitely not up to my pre-Covid fitness game.
  21. No I didn’t move out of Jersey to escape my family (that was just a bonus). I moved because.....it was Jersey.
  22. Nevermind
  23. This. Is. Awesome!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I see what you did there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. The friend I was supposed to come here with today twisted her ankle hiking yesterday. Left at 7 got here at 8:38. Was 16 degrees when I arrived. My first time at Keystone, found the free parking and headed up the Peru lift directly behind that lot. Real empty over there and rode the lift alone. Ended up at the bottom of River Run, looked like more of the main base area. Much busier over there. Lift lines not long but a Covid stuff nobody really knew when to go and liftees not directing. So I went back over to Peru. I didn’t track it but I think I only did 5 runs, skiing tomorrow too so I just wanted to get a handful in. It’s kinda boring skiing by yourself. Just got a breakfast sang since the banana I ate on the way here was not cutting it. After I inhale that guess I am heading out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
