Saw some pictures from Winter Park today. They are basically one of the only places currently not requiring reservations. Lift lines looked insane. Between that, the Eldora and Copper parking reservations I am think I made the right call deferring my Ikon Pass until next season.

There is a walk mode and a downhill mode. On the uphill I Also have buckles very loose. But I need a boot adjustment. When I tighten them, the highest buckles are way too tight even on the loosest setting.

^ yes. Been intimidated to go to Berthoud because it is so busy and not sure what is what. I just got a guide book specifically for the pass that has all the lines, slope angle, avalanche hazard etc. Hopefully a tour there is in my near future.

It’s at the base on Berthoud Pass on the east side. Took me about an hour 20 min.

Headed up to Jones Pass today and arrived about 7:40. My friend and I didn’t carpool since we are not in each other’s immediate bubbles. It was cold at the start but quickly warmed up, sun shining snd no wind. We passed lots of happy smiling faces, everyone just stoked to be out. Skinning up always gives me a reality check on what rotten shape I am in. We just did the road, not the bowl. I put a new setting on my watch for “outdoor sports” not sure why it said I did 10 runs. This summer will be an even 10, will have to celebrate.

No traffic this morning. Even though I have been doing a lot of squats and hiking, legs still feel sore. I am definitely not up to my pre-Covid fitness game.

No I didn’t move out of Jersey to escape my family (that was just a bonus). I moved because.....it was Jersey.

The friend I was supposed to come here with today twisted her ankle hiking yesterday. Left at 7 got here at 8:38. Was 16 degrees when I arrived. My first time at Keystone, found the free parking and headed up the Peru lift directly behind that lot. Real empty over there and rode the lift alone. Ended up at the bottom of River Run, looked like more of the main base area. Much busier over there. Lift lines not long but a Covid stuff nobody really knew when to go and liftees not directing. So I went back over to Peru. I didn’t track it but I think I only did 5 runs, skiing tomorrow too so I just wanted to get a handful in. It’s kinda boring skiing by yourself. Just got a breakfast sang since the banana I ate on the way here was not cutting it. After I inhale that guess I am heading out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

https://denver.cbslocal.com/2020/12/03/covid-aspen-pitkin-county-coronavirus-negative-test/ Aspen will start requiring proof of a negative Covid test within 72 hours of traveling starting 12/14.

I agree and glad they got out. Just depressing of how dry this season is starting out.

I am glad you got to ski but that just looks really depressing.

Gonna try my best to ski as much as possible. There is also still construction in the canyon which makes Eldora a pain in the ass as well. Just trying to go with the flow this weird season. Have 2 more friends that are getting into the backcountry so hopefully we will have a nice crew this season.

Yeah a necessary evil. Eldora parking reservations are already all booked for mornings thru February. Thinking about deferring my Ikon Pass and just using my Epic. Could be cool to check out some new places.
-
Reservations for Keystone 12/4.
-
Seems like all my friends got Ikon this year. Bummer
-
Copper and Eldora are doing parking reservations instead of lift ticket reservations. I don’t really get it because you don’t have to limit the people in your car, nor do you have to say how many people will be in your car. Also you can take the bus to either place so that would increase their numbers too.
-
Eldora opened today but parking reservations required. I am kind of holding off on Ikon resorts until I see what happens with a possible lockdown. If you don’t use pass you can defer it towards next season credit. Def keeping Epic pass because of Crested Butte.

I was all excited because some friends and I made plans to drive up to Winter Park and just do a mellow tour and test out gear. We knew we were not going to Berthoud Pass since it is always a shit show. But even when we drove by it looked pretty dry. Iced over punchy snow but there were plenty of cars there. When we got to the spot we planned this is what we found. So since a few of us just got new beacons we just did some beacon practice for a while Such a bummer, we really need some snow. Just read an interesting article about how private planes landing in Gunnison were very popular this summer. They had between 15-20 privates per day land all summer. They wouldn’t disclose the locations people were flying from because they said private plane users value their privacy lol.

The state updated their website and gyms will have to go to 10% capacity. I just called my gym and said they are most likely closing, but they will send out an email. There is nothing specific to ski resorts. I think Polis knows that is a pretty hot topic and is proceeding with caution. If you don’t use IKON pass and resorts close they will roll over 100% to next year. If you use one day you are screwed. Think I am going to wait snd see how this plays out. No sense in getting a day or two in on a WROD then losing towards next season.
