I hear to the south it is better. But yes, they are closing sections of the park due to the fires.

We are now also getting smoke from the California fires. The sunrise has looked like this the last few days. You can barely make out the Flatirons. @salty it is a good thing you decided against CO. All of your hikes would have had no views. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wildfires suck but the haze does make some pretty sunsets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am not wearing one in my site or walking my dog around but I would not roll up on strangers wanting to get close to them w no mask. I don’t feel like outside wearing one is as important. But people were just all going to each other’s sites striking up conversations close together. Just seems weird Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I went to a local lunch place the other day. Had to make a reservation and it was very limited capacity. Instead of menus they just gave us a QR code in a small piece of paper. But it was hard to read the menu on my phone without my glasses. Different parts of CO are so mixed in their mask compliance. It is required throughout the whole state but as I road trip places often it is mixed. Where I am here in Granby, the camp hosts never wear masks and they are older and dealing w so many people per day. People are always curious about my camper and I have had about 7 different groups of people come over to ask if they can see it. Only one lady came over masked. The rest I said the same thing, happy to show it to you if you come back with a mask. Some did, some said “that’s ok” but continued to walk around it with me at a distance which I thought was rude. Bottom line, nobody in this campground is wearing masks. Went to Grand Lake yesterday and it was 1/2 and 1/2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Our school district was going to do 2 days in person and 2 days online. They just changed their mind to all online. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boulder county had 23 new cases yesterday to bring our total to 1830. Population of Boulder county is 326,196 so I think we are doing pretty well. And the backcountry will be a shit show this season for sure. All the FB groups are already blowing up with people asking where they can buy used cheap touring set ups. Got an email survey from Abasin asking how much I would visit before Dec 20th. Guess they are trying to figure out how early is worth it to open this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@toast21602 I have a sawyer mini but it’s a pain to filter to another bottle. It does fit on a smart water bottle so you can drink right from it. I just ordered a katadyn be free gravity filter since I am planning a Grand Canyon trip (lots of sediment) and heard sawyers don’t hold up well in it. I used Aqua Mira drops on my last trip and they are supposed to protect against giardia and the other one (starts with a C). It is funny you mention Beavers @Johnny Law because our last night we camped next to a beaver dam and I got my water from near there.

Haha doc doesn’t think Covid in the slightest! He thinks water bacteria. Says I should have filtered AND treated my water (I just treated w drops). Have to get a test to see what kind of bacteria but relieved. When I told him his staff was certain I had Covid he just chuckled. I love my doctor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have been feeling like garbage since I got back from my trip. Even had a fever for a few days. Called my doc this morning to get an appt. told them I was backpacking and maybe I have a water bacteria based something or tick bite etc. They immediately connected me to the “Covid nurse” and she asked me a bunch of questions. I have a video appt w my doc in a few hours but the nurse told me to quarantine because “she is sure I have Covid”. I have so many problems with this; what if I was a complete anxiety ridden person and her telling me that is sending me over the edge. It also seems like every single symptom now is a Covid symptom. Have a feeling my doc will prob send me for a test. And yes, I will be responsible of course and quarantine in the meantime. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am not a bar person as it is but no, I personally would not enjoy being in a bar right now. I just feel like Schiff has a point about the government.
-
Our governor just passed an emergency law that last call is to be at 10pm starting today. Bar owners are understandably upset and trying to get together and fight it. I have mixed feelings about all of it. I get the mask, social distance thing. But you are right, it just seems like the government keeps passing extra things to “keep us safe.” I agree that Covid is just here to stay and at some point we have to do what we can but live with it. Not everyone can be kept in a bubble forever.

I just put my gym membership on hold which I am bummed about. They opened back up a month ago with strict policies. But every time I go less and less people are wearing masks (even though it’s mandatory) and people are not sanitizing equipment like they are supposed to. Ordered a TRX, gonna see how Much I can do with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boulder County just extended their mask usage policy indefinitely. Overall most wear masks but I have seen reports of a few grocery stores that are pretty bad with people ignoring it. I shop at a Whole Foods and they are good with enforcement, other places leave it up to some 17 year old stock boy to enforce it. Not a great policy and totally not fair to the kids who are supposed to enforce it.

Crested Butte strict with mask wearing. They made the main st one way and let restaurants put tables outside. Friend and I ate out on a deck but once on main st wore masks(as required due to crowding). On the drive there and back from Boulder, however, very hit or miss with mask wearing. I usually stop once during the drive and the gas stations/bathrooms was half mask half no mask even though signs on doors said masks required. It is perplexing to me, I don’t feel like outside it is necessary but inside yes.

Not sure about capacity of gatherings but supposedly these frat houses are throwing ragers on a regular basis.
