1. The big kitties seem to be out and about town today. Not my photo but taken about 1.5 miles away from my house in a residential neighborhood. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
2. My doctor did a telephone appt with me and said I should wear a blindfold as much as possible for a few days since I was still so dizzy. I sat my ass on the couch and listened to lots of podcasts and after two days the dizziness is almost gone. Just one small headache spot and a little foginess left. Ordered this helmet (on 1/2 off sale!). Has a relatively new technology instead of styrofoam and extra support in the back. Even if I was not banged up right now I would not be in the backcountry. People are acting like fools, crowding trailheads, parking stupid and going out with no gear or education. If I get my boot off on Wednesday (fingers crossed) I am looking forward to walking a ton by the end of the week, then hopefully hiking by the following week. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
3. I only got 5 days on my epic pass (6 if you count the one run before my injury) all at Crested Butte. Not complaining, it paid for itself. I just ordered Full Epic for next season since there was talk of a PASR Telluride trip. Don’t disappoint me.
4. https://www.summitdaily.com/news/with-chairlifts-closed-backcountry-danger-now-extends-to-what-is-typically-in-bounds-terrain/?fbclid=IwAR1PeuqLNbfVhwj0ECagtAYkQKZ1HKKguzfJdjMHwZrxncFv_E4GFk0gb00 agree with this. Lots of people on the FB groups asking, “I have no gear or education, but where is it safe to backcountry ski?”
5. Moab is basically shutting down the town since lots of people were flocking there and their hospital and resources are so small. People on FB are now asking “Where can I camp that’s warm since I can’t go to Moab?” Jesus just stay home! I admit that it took a while to sink in for me. Even on Saturday we were saying to each other “Should we be skiing?” But people who don’t grasp the gravity of the situation now, I just don’t get it.
6. Once I feel well enough to ski again I promise to do my part to bring some backcountry stoke here with pictures.
7. Made it out just in time. Self isolating anyway due to my injury.jfskidan. mention=264]@ridgeracer Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
8. It was a great week with the boys! I need to post this so everyone knows how awesome these 2 are. Yesterday was looking great with about 3” of fresh. We started on Red Lady lift and were traversing over to Paradise lift first run of the day. Started out groomed but on the first head wall after making a few turns something caught my left ski and turned me around backwards. I was totally out of control and fell downhill and landed on the back of my head. When the stars stopped spinning over my head I looked around and saw one pole 10’ above me. I managed to get up and grab that but did not see the other. Finally saw the tip of the strap peeking out from the snow. I slowly skied down and Domenic was waiting for me and Dan had gone back up to look for me. I was a total mess and he got me over to a picnic table. He asked if I needed medical attention and I wasn’t thinking straight. I said I wasn’t sure and was just going to go back to the house and end my ski day. He called over a patroller who assessed me and looked at my helmet and saw it was cracked. He called for back up and they wrapped me in the taco and put me in the sled. Diagnosis is a concussion. When the guys got me back to the house I told them I was going to rest and they should go back and ski. They insisted on packing up the house and driving me back to Boulder. They both took such good care of me. I couldn’t even walk without holding on to one of them. And they both got to see me ugly cry. Doctor said concussions make people emotional, women cry and men get very angry. Girl next to me at clinic also had a concussion and she couldn’t stop crying either. Walking unassisted today, still dizzy with headache and ribs on one side are real sore, so I guess I fell on them too. So a huge thank you and hugs to Dan and Domenic! 9. Day 30 for me. I demoed some skis today as I have definitely outgrown my current pair. They skied well and felt like I needed less effort to ski them fast. I wanted to try another pair after lunch but they were out. Gonna try to see if I can bolt them down in the next 2 days that we have left to ski here. Did a lot of groomers today and hit some of the blacks off Silver Queen but none of the intense stuff the guys did. Was another good ski day. Only took one picture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

14. Was a great day today! I remembered that epic keeps your stats so I looked it up and I got 17 runs in, which is much more then I usually do. The legs don’t feel too beat up but my stupid broken foot is talking to me. After some ice it feels better hopefully tomorrow will be ok. Lunch pic for Doug. Obligatory Paradise Bowl shot. 20. I get it, I am going to have to pack super light for our Europe trip in the fall as we are also going to be traveling by train.
21. This looks awesome, great pictures!
22. Wow, enjoy! And you pack really light.
23. Went to Buttermilk days 2 and 3. We were told about the sugar bowls out the boundary gate. We went back there day 3. Guy at info desk told us we could ski down the bowl but then had to skin back up and traverse out way we came. We went in about 1.5 miles in but with all our stops to take pictures we were running short on time and turned around before we made the bowl. Ran into some people who said you can totally walk out from bottom and it’s a 5 min walk to the lift. D’oh! I would definitely go back there, they have such an amazing uphill policy. And also to check out the other Aspen mountains. Thinking about the $150 add on the ikon base to have that option next season. Some yurt shots The yurt was awesome and it was actually really nice to unplug for a few days. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

25. Rented a yurt in the town of Marble which is about 1 hr 20 min from Aspen. 4wd to access the property is no joke. Had to put the Jeep in 4low to get it up the last mile. Yurt 3 comfy futons inside View from porch Started snowing heavy that night and we woke up to this When all was said and done it was about 10” (pic was taken about 6:30am). We had to wait for the local plow guy to come through and make a pass before we headed out. Ended up doing a tour on McClure Pass. Just real mellow, didn’t want to do anything crazy with all the new snow. Depending on road conditions we may to a tour near Marble Peak tomorrow. Down another 4wd road but there is a quarry there so it is often plowed. Access road to yurt. To be continued...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
