Chilling pic of an inbound avalanche at Steamboat. Pit visible where ski patrol dug out buried person. Terrain was closed, they shouldn’t have even been there. (Not my picture) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

The day started out normal Crested Butte cold at 0 degrees. Got to the mountain about 9:10, no rush since I knew it would not be busy. But I had no idea it would be SO empty! I was hardly even seeing people on the lifts. Top of Silver Queen Top of Paradise Bowl Found some interesting ungroomed stuff. Slow going but fun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

My friend and I checked out a new area in the Indian Peaks Wilderness today. We had read it was super mellow and dog friendly. The weather was supposed to be partly sunny and not start snowing on the east side of the divide until evening. By the time we drove through the canyon it was snowing hard and very windy. Going up the snow covered dirt road to access our spot the wind picked up and the visibility was poor. We got there about 8 and there was another group about to skin in. We chatted for a bit about route options. I am glad someone else was there because it just felt better knowing someone else would be out there. Once we got in the trees the wind was tolerable. Skinned 1.75 miles in to an open area. There were several options. Some heartier souls kept going up to the ridge above us. It was a steep climb and the wind was whipping again since we were out of the trees. There was also a line below us that looked good, but we would have had to skin back up it to get out. We chose to just transition and go the way we came. Went through some tight trees but the grade was mellow. When I go back in nicer conditions I will play around some more. Some old mining cabin ruins. Open are where I am pointing out the guys on the ridge. On the way out there was some uphill. We couldn’t remember how much of that there was so at first we just kind of herringboned up it. That was gettin pretty tiring and we came across another group. We asked them if they thought it was worth it to put skins back on and they said absolutely. So skins went back on and we continued the last 1/2 mile or so to the car. Overall a stellar day out despite the weather. Of course the sun came out about 5 min before we reached the car. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Still don’t know how you make that drive so often. I still have nightmares about how brutal it was on a Friday night.

Fun day at Eldora today. Did not ski a groomed trail all day so legs are kinda tired. Sunny skies, no wind. And the Indian buffet in Nederland is always tasty after skiing! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I think it’s great that ski2live is committed to getting his kids out skiing, especially since he seems to be on a tight budget. That being said....ski2live you need to proofread things before you hit post. A lot of your comments lately sound bad on many levels. You can do better.

Heading to CB Tuesday, cannot wait! They just opened Paradise Bowl. Look at these non existent mid week lift lines. (Drool) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

To be honest, I think you did! Couldn’t bring myself to drive with the hordes of people to Eldora today but knew I wanted to get out. It takes a lot of snow to fill in where I was skiing, so doubtful it will happen again soon.

Ok Doug, if you say it’s legit I will count it.

Little urban skiing today. I had read on FB that some people skied some of Sanitas. I took my dog up there for a hike first to check it out. Saw 4 people out and some tracks. So I took him home and got my skis. Strapped them to my pack u til I walked up to the start of the valley trail where it is essentially a fire rd. Skinned up that a bit and followed someone’s tracks up the hill. Snow was so deep, the deepest I have ever skinned, was challenging. It was only maybe 200’ of vert. Powder to my knees, managed to find one rock that almost knocked me down. Was very cautious after that. Not gonna count it as a ski day but pretty freaking fun! Pics make it look much flatter than it was. Should have taken one from the bottom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will take some pics when the sun comes up later. Absolutely dumping in Boulder. Took my dog for a very short walk and snow was just short of my knees. Doesn’t look like mountains getting a lot. Boulder and foothills seem to be the bullseye. I’m sure even if I could get to RMNP the gate would be closed. Their budget is not great these days.

Can’t really complain for November. The last storm didn’t bring much since it was pretty boney to begin with. But my friend and I had warm temps and sunshine, and of course the ever present park winds. Not bad in the trees but once you get back to the parking lot it’s always windy. Group coming up hot on our heels when we stopped to catch our breath. People really fly skinning up, hope that’s me someday. The sketchier or 2 creek crossings. Some guy flew past us and was quickly out of sight. Transitioning. None of my friends or myself are efficient at this yet. I want to try ripping off my skins with the skis still on, today was not the day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I agree with this! My oldest was on a youth football team for one season and it definitely interfered with ski season. I told him the same thing you did, that was the end of the experiment and next season would just be skiing.

You should cancel and just get an Ikon if you are planning to come to CO in the spring. Full Ikon gives 7 days at JH then you can use up to 7 days at Abasin and unlimited at WP and Copper. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That Jeep Grand Cherokee is the same one (and same color) my husband has. I don’t think our is 75th anniversary edition but they are so nice. Whenever I take a road trip with my friends I always use his car. Those heated seats in the back are great. I got a Jeep too recently, but more for summer Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Had a late morning PT appt so couldn’t get up to Eldora for opening as I usually do. The canyon has been under construction for a long while and is supposed to continue until next summer. Mon-Thurs full closure 10-2. Friday’s it’s open so I didn’t think anything about delays. 4 different flag men stops and it took me an extra 40 min to get there. Snow was in bad shape lots of wind and no additional snow had the trails that were opened all scoured and ice. Ended up only doing 4 runs since it was so crappy. I am almost sorry I got the Ikon Pass since I mostly got it for Eldora. But dealing with that canyon construction is a real pain in the ass. Once Mary Jane opens I may start going up there more since it would only take an extra 30 min from my new Eldora commute time. Looks dry here for a while. We need a freshening up of snow.
