FYI I did not type you’re. Spell correct got me.

Would you’re legs be tired enough by Friday to handle a slower ski day? Don’t want to do a weekend.
-
You know I can’t ski as fast as you. If you want to hang out and ski 5 days in when your legs are tired and you are ok with a chill day let me know.

Flying is such a pain in the ass these days. Hopefully trip will be all good once you land. It will be even better if you follow through this year and ski with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Day 2 of my 3 day AIARE 1 course. Yesterday we spent mostly in class, but did a short tour of hidden valley. Not gonna log it in my stats because it was mostly off skis. Today was much more fun! Went on a ski tour starting at Bear Lake. Our destination was dream lake. It is a very scenic area, I have hiked it in both summer and winter. The winter trail is quite steep on skins and that is wheat we took. Our guide gave me a great tip of looking up (not down at skis) so you put more weight on your heels. Just doing that I was able to not slide backwards which I have done every time I have went out. Dream Lake This section is called Dragon’s tail couloir. I hav seen it referenced it a lot of the face book Bc groups. Guide said it is 50 degree slope. Not something I can see myself ever doing, but cool ot now see where it is. Waiting to drop. Was good to get out of my comfort zone. Steep, sloppy first drop in. Still getting used to my fat skis. Digging pits out test snowpack stability. Had one hiccup that I leaned my poles against my car, put my skis on top rack, opened back door to climb up. Made the mistake of leaving back door open, huge gust of wind came out of nowhere, slammed car door with pole inside. Surprisingly, the pole is fine, my car, not so much. Gonna have to fix that, bummer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

No I used to go to Stratton and I posted a TR a long long time ago. It’s a fun mountain. When I lived on the east coast it seemed huge. This is a good TR! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Aw man that is sad. I am way too lazy to take my rack off my car in summer.

Signed up for the 3 day AIARE 1 course. After that I will be all learned and shit.

I read 11 skiers but missed 11 consecutive days. Wow, you are a beast. Looks like a great trip.

Bummer, my friend just sent me a few videos of us “probing.”

Plenty of probe jokes. Can you post a video from your phone without uploading to YouTube and linking it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Went back to RMNP today. Sorry no pics. Temps were warm, snow was garbage. It snowed Fri night so I though it may still be decent. Hidden Valley is such a popular area, however, and it was all scraped off ice. We did some practice in the beacon park, so nice that they have this! I really hate my probe. Not only is it ridiculously long, but to keep it extended properly there is a top screw that is kind of tricky to engage. I feel like if I was panicked trying to get it extended thst would take valuable seconds. It also doesn’t have measurements in the side. On a positive note, I remembered to have my boots in walk mode this time for the skin up, so felt s little easier. Overall still a nice day to be outside with good company.

God no. My mother moved here 18 months ago to an assisted living. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ended up doing another snowshoe hike last night with my builder, his wife and their dog. Area we went to called Cement Creek. There are 16 cabins back there accessible only in summer unless you snowshoe in. The plan for today was to hike the morning, then ski the afternoon. I checked out a place called Hartman Rocks in Gunnison I have been wanting to go to for a while. Did not see one other person. It is a very popular mountain biking and climbing area in summer. Got a call from home that my mother had a fall. Just waiting for my sheets to dry then heading home, bummed. Supposed to snow here tomorrow. Hopefully get back here in June. Went back to the Snodgrass TH to do a snowshoe and tire out my pup before I went skiing. The usually have a classic xc ski track in pace but didn’t this time. There was a semi flat/groomed (but choppy section and I figured the Nordic skiers would want to use that. I didn’t want to put my snowshoe tracks in it so I stayed to the side. Only did about 3 miles but my legs were tired walking through the deep stuff. Hopped on the shuttle and was at the mountain at 9:40 (late for me). Town was socked in fog this morning but the mountain was clear, as was the hiking area. Red Lady lift looked crowded and I skated by and had no line at the Silver Queen. Lift stopped 3 times that ride. It had been down for several days a week or so ago. Think Vail is probably going to have to upgrade it. Headed straight down to Paradise Bowl. Looked gorgeous in the sunshine. Stayed mainly on Paradise, then headed over to the Umbrella bar for a huge glass of water and did some runs over by the Gold Link lift. Left at noon, legs were getting tired. While I was gone the snow guys worked their magic and I now have a parking spot again. Saw lots of dump trucks in town full of snow. Is that a joke? Or in Salty’s world are 88’s wide.
-
I have not. Lots of people go to Berthoud. That area has much higher avalanche danger however.

Ordered this backpack. Decided to get a snow specific pack that fits all the avy gear properly. Have a shovel and beacon on order and found a used probe at a local shop. Can’t wait till all my stuff is in and I go out again! Also picked up this book. Lots of good spots in the park when I get more comfortable. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
