  1. Great pictures. Love that waterfall
  2. Really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for taking the time to post it. PASR needs more TR's and pictures.
  3. This time of year hiking in snow is iffy. I have been checking trip reports. Some days if you start early enough you are ok with snowshoes. Sometimes it warms up too fast and by the return trip you are postholing up to your knees. Just too inconsistent. I thought I missed Wawa until I came back last fall. When I went I. There everything looked gross. Yes the pizza is better but I don't eat it that much anymore. Never ate steak sand and we have seafood out here. The trout and salmon is really good.
  4. I would never rip on the Poconos, it is beautiful there too. But no, I don't miss anything about the east coast at all.
  5. It starts on the west side of town in the foothills. Trailhead only a 10 min walk from my house so I hike it often. Boulder is a beautiful place and we definitely get spoiled with the views. You guys should come visit me here sometime!
  6. Sun finally came out this morning. Everything over 10,000' pretty socked in with snow. Getting tired of the in town hikes, want to get up high. Hopefully soon.
  7. I'm thinking of going. But it may be a shitshow this weekend because of all the rain and gloomy weather in town. Trying to talk my older son into going Monday. It would be nice to end the season on a good note. My last ski day in March had pretty terrible conditions.
  8. http://www.dailycamera.com/news/ci_28156281/arapahoe-basin-blessed-by-feet-may-snow-drawing?source=most_viewed A basin looks like winter
  9. Feel like I am back in NJ. Nothing but rain here. Rocky Mountain NP getting hammered with snow. May even be worth taking snowshoes up there.
  10. ^ I know I shouldn't even respond.... But seriously....YUCK. Please stop saying things like that
  11. Green mountain. 2244' up.
  12. nah, I am mentally done for the season and have moved on to summer activities.
  13. Site needs some new pics. One of those good to be alive mornings.
  14. Nice report. Hiking and skiing in the same day is great!
  15. ^ I know. I was considering not buying my kids passes for next season since they only seem to go a handful of days. But then I added it up and they offer a teen pass for $379. They do not offer teen discounts at the window, $120 adult price. So its paid for in 4 visits. Pretty sweet deal.
  16. $1250 on passes for 3 of us $300 on ski pants for 2 From 12/1-3/31 made a $1400 profit on renting out our WP place. All in all a pretty cheap season.
  17. Hanging out in New Mexico for a few days. This is off the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Just in case you are feeling suicidal.
  18. We have mice too. Was actually screaming my head off the other morning when one crawled over my bare toes when I was making the kids lunches. Luckily my dogs got it and ripped it to pieces. But then I had to clean up mouse guts, yuck. The animals and critters don't bother you if you leave them be.
  19. Glad you are getting some snow.
  20. I've heard rattlesnakes before on trails but this is the first one I have seen
  21. Totally agree w Doug. Go to the hospital If it happened to one of your kids you would make them go no question
  22. The Boulderado is a boutique hotel. Prob $250-300 per night. There is also a Best Western I have stayed at when we were house hunting. Prob in the $150 range. If you are flying out the next morning just make sure you book a place "in" Boulder, or even Louisville which is the next town south. Don't book what you think is a Boulder location and end up staying in Gunbarrel because it will add at least 30 min to your airport commute. Louisville actually has a decent amount of hotels all grouped together for reasonable rates. Its about a 15-20 min drive from Boulder and you will be heading south in the direction of the airport
  23. Not too many hotels in Boulder. The Outlook hotel is one of the more reasonable ones.
