Yes you win, WP only has 55" base. But still fun as hell!

I'd love some instruction but the rates for lessons are pretty pricey. You around Jordan? I have plenty of buddy passes left.

Yeah, definitely gonna do it. I skied a little before i started snowboarding, but only a handfull of times. I just have to go up on a weekday. Kind of excited to try something new.

So far March is only rented 3 days. I reserved days for us plus the week of spring break. It's usually me and a bunch of kids, bring your wife some weekend and keep me company.

Anyone snowboarded then switched to skiing? I originally started snowboarding because my then 7 year old son hated skiing and wanted to try snowboarding. He said he would only learn if I did with him. All my friends out here ski, they always have to wait for me to strap in and WP seems to have a lot of flat areas that drive me crazy on a board. I don't exactly rip on a board but don't want to spend an entire season learning a new thing.

Finally made it over to Mary Jane yesterday. I started at Winter Park base and took a terrible cat walk trail over. I later found out you can take another shuttle from WP base directly to Mary Jane which is what I will do from now on. They just opened an area called the Parsen Bowl recently and that's where I was heading. If it wasn't overcast I think the view from the top would be amazing. Took a few runs on some great wide open trails that seemed to go on forever. Here are a few pictures. Looking forward to doing this section again, I liked it much better than WP.

Where are you skiing this weekend? (February 23-24)

Went snowshoeing instead of snowboarding because i wanted some solitude. Got my wish, found a nice network of in town trails i'd never done before. I felt like the only person on the planet. Tried to take some pictures but my camera kept saying memory card error. And Kyle i saw they are doing some traveling clinics in Morristown and somewhere near you in PA (forget where). -

Kyle, check out this link http://www.egoscue.com/boulder.php There is no office near you but they do skype appts or you can just research the exercises and do on your own. Although it does help to at least get an initial evaluation of your issues. I had knee issues and was heading toward surgery and I've been doing this for 3 months and my knee barely hurts at all any more. Like you I was wearing a brace to do just about everything. Plus most of my other nagging injuries seem to be fading away as well. It is a time suck, and you have to do it daily, but worth it in the end. -

Heading up to Winter Park solo for the weekend as soon as the kids get on the bus. -
Glad your kid had a positive day. Great to start them out young.

Garmisch is such a beautiful town. My husband has family in Heidelburg. When we visited them we did a few days in Garmisch, favorite part of the trip for me.

JFBB on weekends with little kids
Barb replied to poconoceancity's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
I could never justify the extra money for the vip pass. It is a pain but we always had to go in the lodge and drop off our lunch bags in the race room anyway. Getting there at 10 is tough. We usually got ere at 8 and by 10:30 i was done because it started to get crowded, but i guess the crowds aren't that bad, I was just spoiled. I would consider getting the 2 older kids in the race program and then you can spend the day with the 3 year old. The race program is great and they progress very quickly. My son was just snowplowing all the time and after a few weeks in th,e program he stopped doing that. They also have "fun" races on sundays and the kids win medals. It really builds their confidence. My son has all his medals hanging in his room, he's very proud of them. Overall I would definitely recommend jfbb for you. They did used to advertise the vip parking lot for a price, can't remember how much it is. But is you put yhe older ones in race program you have to be there by 8:30 anyway and that solves your parking problem. Good luck with your decision -
Quote of the day Kyle!!

Tried to edit the other post but wouldn't let me. So to answer your question SK, there was just something I didn't like about Vail. My snowboarding abilities are not good enough to ride the stuff Vail is famous for, plus we had kids in tow. My older son loves Vail, he went a bunch last season because he had the epic pass. But he rides hard and loves the steep stuff (which scares me). We only went with my younger son and his friend and they are more about just having fun on the mountain. Vail gets really crowded. About an hour after the lifts opened there was already a 10+ minute wait. People flying into Denver who want the Colorado experience are going to go to the big name places like Vail, Breckenridge etc. I find Winter Park to be a much more laid back place, plus you don't have to drive through the tunnel to get there. I had planned on going to Copper this weekend since my pass is also good there so my son could see his friend who flew in from NJ for the week. But yesterday the little SOB cut school and took a bus to Denver because he didn't want to wait till the weekend to see his friend. Now he's grounded and we are not going. Hopefully I'll get on the snow the following weekend.

I would not have pd $119. As I said we only pd $50 with the vouchers.

Got invited to Vail for the weekend.....just another reason to love living in Colorado. Friend's husband works for Vail so gave us $50 ticket vouchers. Got first chair and it was snowing hard all morning. It was nice to have someone lead us around who knew the mountain since its so big. The snow was great! I had a great time but wouldn't want to have that be my home mountain, people seemed a little snooty. Here are a few pictures:

Was puking in Vail this morning. Great conditions, awesome day! Took a few pictures but only have iPad here, have to wait til I get home to download

That looks like it torques your knees a lot.

POC I don't think you need a stepping stone to JFBB. Put the 3 year old in snowmonsters and ride around with the other 2 kids. When my kids were that young we started at BB mostly, but that was before they put park features on every trail. If you can go up every weekend I would think about putting the older 2 in the race program. Can't say enough good things about it. Coaches are great with the kids and they really progress fast. I feel your pain, I remember when I had to lift both of them up to get on the lift, no fun indeed.

I don't have flow bindings but I always stand up to strap in. Your ass doesn't get cold from sitting down and it takes less time.

It was a cold one in the mountains this weekend. Woke up to -12 Saturday morning but by the time we caught the shuttle it warmed up to a balmy -3. I had 7 kids in tow with me this weekend. My younger son had a boot issue and didn't go out Saturday so I just brought his 2 friends to the mountain. The sun was out so it didn't feel too bad temperature wise. No lift lines to speak of maybe 1-2 minute wait. Snow was a little more icy than I expected but still pretty good. I let the boys lead me around and before I knew it we were on a bump run (ugh). I really have to suck it up and practice on those since Winter Park has a ton of them. We only stayed out a few hours and went we headed down to the base we took a horrible run that was basically a 2 mile catwalk. Since we started from a dead stop at the top and had no speed the other snowboarder and I kept having to unstrap a foot. The 4 older boys did their own thing and stayed on Mary Jane and the park until last chair both days. I remember Nick Malozzi saying something about quality over quantity out here and he's right. This morning my older son can barely get out of bed. I told him we weren't going back for 2 weeks and he said good because he didn't think he could ride that hard again in a week. A few lame pictures but it was too cold to keep taking off my gloves. Neither of these 2 kids are mine.
