  1. Bye, Bye Winter.......Hello spring skiing at Big Boulder. Jack Frost will be closing for the 2008-2009 season on Sunday, March 22nd at 4pm. Big Boulder will close on Sunday at 8PM, remain closed during the week and then will re-open on the weekend from 10AM until 6PM. Big Boulder Snowpasses for the 10am-6pm session will be only $28 per person! Thank you all for a wonderful season at Jack Frost and we will see you all at Big Boulder to enjoy the spring skiing! Don't forget to buy your 0910 season passes before April 30th! Stay tuned for further updates!
  2. I stand corrected. They also gave out free tubing passes for next season. Nice for when family comes that don't want to ski.
  3. It was so empty today. Morning was decent. By 1pm Exhibition had some major slush spots. Saw some bare spots on Thunderbolt. And yes, the ribs were good on the buffet. We all entered that fun race. David got 3rd and since I was the only entry in the female snowboarders age 20 and over, what do you know, I won. Haha. We got free tickets for next season, nice hook up. Next week we are heading to Vermont and who knows what the temps will do to the snow by early April. It may be our last weekend at JFBB, if so it was a great season. Got our 09/10 season passes today.
  4. I love Angry Hugo's posts.
  5. Just got back from a fun day at JFBB. Got to frost about 7:45, parking lots were empty. Temp 27 deg. The snow was very sugary but in decent shape for the recent temps. Took some runs down One Park and Exhibition before meeting up w CaptDave @9:30. We headed over to East with the boys in tow. After a few runs the boys wanted to head back to get some advertised free swag they were giving out at the bottom of B lift. It turned out to be some DR pepper and pepsi hats, but free is free and they were happy to get it. Headed over to boulder after lunch and it was equally empty. I was surprised, no lift lines to speak of even on the green trails. Around 2:30 both kids and their friend had bad falls off the new rail they tried. It was time to head out. Now they are all comparing their battlescars deciding whose is the worst. If they are not too beat up we'll be back tomorrow for the pass party at Frost
  6. 3 of us have season passes, but I only received one postcard (addressed to my son). But I also got an email.
  7. We'll be at Frost both days. Although my oldest wants to head over to Boulder at some point. I really do love Tannanbaums park for him, it has built his confidence. And PC, on Sunday if Michael is getting bored hanging out with his little brother send him over to One Park. If he doesn't mind hanging out with a couple of 5th graders.
  8. just registered, no problem.
  9. They sent out an email and a postcard.
  10. I believe you had to RSVP for the appreciation day by this past Monday. I forgot to.
  11. That's what I meant, a freebie for Zachary. You can rent skis for $12 at Mike and Matt's. Let me know.
  12. We are heading to Stratton March 20-23. Little did I know when I booked this trip back in October that it was the US open. I was going to get my 5th grader that Vermont passport but Stratton has those dates blacked out due to the comp. My cousin usually hooks us up with freebies, but her kids are competing in states at Gunstock so they will only be there on our last day. Anyone know of a website to get discount coupons?
  13. Phillycore, I am meeting Capt Dave next Saturday and hooking him up with a freebie. I would be happy to do the same for your son. Since we get 3 season passes at the early rate that's 12 freebies for the season. I didn't have too much company up there this season so I'd be happy to share. My son David is having a friend come stay with us. Can't remember how old Michael is but if you want he can hang around David and his friend and you can concentrate on Zach. I haven't been up since Prez weekend (gasp) I can't wait to get back.
  14. Yes, thanks. I wasn't there, but the boys had a great time with their Dad. David got free skullcandy headphones (which he had been saving up to buy) and Stephen was drooling over the red bull girls (which is kind of disturbing since he is only 8). He got his picture taken with them and they thought he was cute so he was in heaven. David didn't do much in the comp but got his first one under his belt and was happy with the experience.
  15. Wow, BDK you are the man. I have to say after riding at JF all season instead of BB, I definitely like it over there better. Longer trails and more challenging ones. On an unrelated topic...since the powers that be read this board I have a question. Why did they do away with every day pass validation for the race team next year and change it to a direct access pass only? I know its only another $100 bucks but I am not going to get direct access passes for myself or my other son. I imagine the rest of the race team parents won't spring for them either so we will all be getting daily tickets at the window anyway. Just wondering. But we do love that program and it has been well worth the money this season. The coaches are great and the fun races with the medals given out are great too.
  16. My son signed up. He's not too good in the park but it will be a good experience for him
  17. I thought conditions today were much better than yesterday. Some interesting characters there. I saw one guy strapping in his snowboard on top of one park, he was wearing jeans, a leather jacket and a striped button down dress shirt. I also rode the lift with a guy who was sucking down straight vodka out of a wine sack, eww.
  18. I probably saw you. My son and I were around there most of the morning, then moved on to thunderbolt. Did challenge once but it seemed pretty scraped off and more sugary than t-bolt. If your there today say hi if you see us. My son wears all black and I have light blue jacket and brown pants.
  19. just got this email: Hey all you snow lovers! You couldn't ask for a better winter! JFBB is continuing our commitment to snowmaking and providing first rate conditions so we have decided to make snow when the temperatures permit later this week to get both mountains back in prime condition for the upcoming holiday weekend and Energy Conservation Week. The weekend forecast is looking good and with the snowmaking you couldn't ask for better. There is a lot going on this weekend so be sure to check out the calendar of events.
  20. So thanks for all the advice. It took 2 runs to get used to how fast my board went. I even attempted East mt today. Took 3 runs down lightning. It was fine until that last headwall. It wasn't pretty, But I made it down. Overall great day. Sun was shining, wind wasn't bad, what more could you ask for?
  21. Well I think I got all the excess wax off. I brought the scraper up here with us just in case I didn't. I guess I'll find out tomorrow on the snow. Took us over 4 hrs to get up here tonight. Hit a little snow storm and about 30 miles of ice on the NE ext. Lots of cars skidded out. I drove 20mph since I had 3 kids in the car.
  22. It was swix ch 6 blue color
  23. ok toast you are officially my hero. Running the iron across again smothed out the lumps. Yeah, way way too much wax. I could kill the guy at the ski shop that told me how much to use. I am going to be scraping this shit off all night. Thanks everyone.
  24. really? Its been over an hour since I put the initial wax on.
  25. thanks Moe, and I'm beyond messy already.
