This morning started out promising. Started out on the Silver Queen and did a warm up lap on Paradise. Then headed over and did a lap on Keystone which is a steep run for me. Those 2 runs were best of the day. Things started getting skied off and the runs crowded after that. Weird bro vibe and dudes skiing like assholes had me saying I was gonna call it a day early. A few of Dan off of Keystone Dan was going to stay for a few more and then come back and go to town for lunch.

Back from a beautiful morning session. Much warmer today even though it was -10 for my morning dog walk. Yesterday we got on the lift at 9:02, today it was 9:04. Epic mix gives you all the stats. Snow was MUCH improved today! It skied fast. Sun was out! Did a few on Paradise then headed down to East River. Black Eagle, one of my go to runs, was icy. I called it icy, Dan called it slick. couple of Dan Couple of me I left after 14 runs Dan moving onto bigger stuff. It was nice of him to hang w me this morning. had the Korean beef again for lunch, pic for Doug

@Ski2Live Live2Skijust here to report that Teo 2 is now open at CB. So now 100% of their terrain is open. Lots of extreme terrain if you were doing the cost analysis on where to go next.

First real ski lodge lunch I had all season so far. I usually cheap out and just bring pocket snacks. I had a Korean beef BBQ bowl that was very tasty. Dan had chicken fingers and fries. I stole some of his fries, I was hungry don’t judge.

Got about 2” of snow overnight. The mountain skied weird today. We went right up Silver Queen to Paradise bowl and the snow was like cream cheese. Some parts were wind blown and icy, the fresh snow was very sticky. After 2 runs of that nonsense I told Dan I wanted to go over to the front side and see if it was better there. Skied some off the front and it was more groomed but still icy. Found the best snow off the Teocali Lift. Didn’t seem affected by the wind at all. But that lift is so painfully slow. Think it’s about 12ish min. I could only do a few runs there. Temps were cold w a brisk wind. When I checked my phone at lunch it was 12. But sunny. Only took a few pics off Teo, hands were cold. Dan still on the mountain.

Great TR so far. Bison chili sounds amazing. I bet if you showed your unpunched card next chili bowl you get they would punch it twice. Why would you have a card at all if you didn’t already buy a bowl? You should definitely go to the Jane side and take the Panorama all the way to the top. Views are very nice and you can take blues all the way to the bottom. The last part of the cat walk is a quad burner trying to keep your speed up. WP seems to have a lot of cat walks. Deno’s restaurant in town has good food.

Whoops yes, that’s what I meant. Lol

What a great morning! CB reported 2” overnight but it skied like more. The only ungroomed run I did was the last bit back to the base. Legs got a workout today!

Quick little solo tour on Snodgrass to test out my new boots. They have a cool feature called the Hoji lock system. You buckle boots in ski mode like you will go downhill, then switch the back lever to walk mode and all the buckles AND the power strap loosen. So you don’t have to fumble with 4 buckles and power strap for transitions, just flip up the lever, pretty cool! Just went up a mile and came back down. Toes numb when I got back to my car, not sure if the boots need an adjustment or it was just cold out. Skin track icy as hell!

Did some uphill at the resort this morning. Was -5 when we got out of the car. Started about 6:45ish. Sarah went all the way up to the top of Paradise lift. I stopped half way up. She was so much faster then me I felt bad she was waiting so I told her just to go. Had a boot fitting appt right after and got some sweet new touring boots! Can’t wait to rest them out.

Yikes. Luckily I did not need surgery, just lots and lots of PT. @RidgeRacer we went to Ryce last night! Tried for burgers at The Last Steep but sadly sign said closed for the season.

And I WAS enjoying my zen. First bluebird day I feel like I have had all season. Legs felt good, Sarah was cracking me up, no lift lines, no wind. Pretty damn good day.

Great first day back at Cb! Hasn’t snowed in a few days here so the groomers were fun and fast. I thought the bumps would be rough since they looked icy but they were fun too. started on the Silver Queen down to Paradise Bowl. Did 3 runs there then headed over to East River. There is a run called Black Eagle one half is groomed the other half bumped. We lapped that a bunch dipping in and out of the bumps Sarah me trying to pick a line Had a snack at the Umbrella Bar and did some east laps off that side. I ended my day after 12 runs, Sarah stayed longer. Had a weird conversation w a guy on the shuttle home: Guy: I always wondered if the band makes those skis (talking about my Black Crows) me: just gave him a funny look guy: so do you like their music? me: they’re ok after a 5 minute silence guy: (don’t even realize he is talking to me at first) So I did one long top to bottom run today. I am going to get my car and head over to Monarch so I can ski two places in one day. Probably just do one run there and come home. me: just gave him a funny look and said ok

Thought that might be the Monarch butterfly. I have a Ouray buff that looks exactly the same. So glad you guys are having a great trip!
-
@NMSKIare you wearing a Ouray Ice Fest buff?

Pump/cup condiments are where it’s at.

You guys take really good pictures. Love that one with the Black Crow skis in the shot.

Tackled Tiehack Today! Say that 5x’s fast. There are 3 uphill routes at Buttermilk and Tiehack is the hardest. I had planned to bust it out by the end of the season but my friend is up here with me and it’s her birthday today. So I asked her if she wanted to suffer and she said yes. The x games begin this weekend so getting her pass was a challenge w parking in the main lot. Then we drove over to the Tiehack lot snd it was full, luckily someone was just leaving and we snagged that spot. The lot is right below the lift, so convenient. forecast was for clouds but we did have a bit of sun. Temps about 16 degrees. When looking it up the stats show 1.75 miles up with 1700’ of elevation gain. My watch tracked 1.5 miles and 1847’. Let’s just say it was steep. The skimo crowd was passing us like we were standing still. It was funny after a while. I could barely speak I was so out of breath and they would come in hot on our heels and say hello with no difficulty. Almost to the top. The ski down was fun, we were pooped. Snow quality was really nice too.

Very spoiled here. There was one 5 min wait in Ajax lift. The rest we skied right on.
