ski, you're a tough old nut, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.

The kids are rewarded with something....reading. I am not saying I would be proud to sponsor something like this. But, I don't know many programs that don't have some kind of catch to them. Someone from this MB pm'd me that Steamboat has a "kids ski free" program. When I looked into it further, I found out that they only ski free when the parents buy 5 or more days of lift tickets at $85 a pop. I'm not saying it wouldn't be great if Sno and other area mountains offered non-gimmicky programs, but I wouldn't hold my breath. They don't have to offer discounts at all. They could charge everyone full price all the time. Plus, as a parent, I would have no problem telling my kid that reading earns them a free lift ticket to a new mountain. They don't have to know there is a catch at all. They think they earned their ski day by reading books.

I think anything that gets kids away from their ipods/gameboys/cell phones and gets their nose in a book is a good thing. Sno is a business after all and how can they prove these kids actually read the books anyway?

I know I am a whimp, but the gondola at Grouse Mtn scared me. I won't be in a hurry to ride the one at Whistler. But it is pretty amazing. 11 minute ride.

Im just kidding. I don't feel old at all except when I am on this message board sometimes.

you have to come to Big Boulder at least once, I'd like to meet a fellow over the hill pasr.

Yeah I know that. I just wanted a picture or two since I wasn't up on the glacier with them. I am thrilled that he finally had the confidence to do the terrain park, and that he met new friends that he has been emailing all summer and he felt like he was on his own since we were not in the hotel with them. Overall it was a great experience for both of them. They have been telling anyone who will listen all summer how great camp was, how they went to a new country and all the fun things we did. I am not saying all I wanted out of the camp experience was a picture. But when there are over 150 pictures and a 30 minute video and my kids are only in random shots standing around I am just disappointed that's all. Geesh it was just a lighthearted little rant, leave it at that.

my older son definitely did. My younger son didn't get as much out of it. I think he might have been too young.
-
that's a good line. I did get an email from the camp who gave me the email of the guy who did the videos. I contacted him and told him I would pay for any footage of my kids he had laying around. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the advice.

They advertise a video at the end of camp. They don't physically give you a dvd, they put one on their website and you can download it to your computer. This was my first time doing camp so maybe I was expecting too much, but for the money they charge I was expecting at least a few good pictures of them actually on the snow.
-
They don't guarantee a pic of your kid on their website. I don't need it to be on the website, I just want one for myself. They post the pics and vid on the website and then you download them, so if its not on the site, that's it.
-
good idea I just emailed them.

I sent the boys to camp back in June. There were no good pictures of them on the glacier from the website. Only random shots of them standing around. I have been checking the website daily for them to post the video hoping they would be in it. They finally posted it yesterday and the only shots of them are randomly standing around. There were a decent number of little kids at camp and the video and pics don't show any of them doing rails or even on the snow. Its all the older kids. yeah, I know I am whining but it sucks. End of rant.

IDK, I've seen some morbidly obese people stuffed into gaper attire at Boulder. You are right though, most of them choose to show off even more of their grotesque bods in swimsuits. The real fatties usually wear bikinis.

do you have a pic of the planet earth down? XS in what...youth, mens? Is it bigger or smaller than the volcom down I bought from you? just saw the pic on your ebay link. Just tell me the size.thanks
-
just promise me if you organize a gaper day next season...you actually dress for it.
-
hey watch who you are calling old sonny
-
cute pic...she looks more comfortable on a board than I do.
-
Definitely start them on skis this season. They are not too young at all. I would wait until age 7 to try a board. They'll be zipping by you in no time.
-
stop trying to steal all the pasr's Doug. Total noob, come to BB.
-
after waiting 15 minutes for the file to download it said it could not play it because its corrupted?

Megan, I'm glad you had fun. I wish we were out there the same time. I wish COC took kids younger than 12. Start posting again, we miss you. And about the accents...did you notice everyone says "perfect" and "awesome" after everything. Example...we are at a breakfast place: waitress: do you want coffee us:yes waitress: ok perfect, what do you want to eat? us:I'll have whatever waitress: ok perfect, awesome.

no you don't have to live in Pa. Just prove you are in 4th grade. I am going to tell all my cheap ass friends to get one for their kids. Then they will have no excuse not come to BB.

just came across something if anyone has kids going into 4th grade... Starting in September, go on to skipa.com and you can download an application for a ski booklet for all of pa. It entitles your 4th grader 3 free lift tickets to all 20 pocono resorts (with full paying adult). It only costs $15.00 Pretty good deal. I am definitely checking it out in September.
