T*Maki is correct, only Female and Grom can register on-site. Both the Open divisions are closed! See you on the 23rd! -
At the Buckman's KOP Rail Jam on 2/23 Oakley will be hosting a "Custom Goggle Bar". They will be making Custom Crowbar goggles. You will be able to choose the various options - frame color, lens color, strap colors, outrigger colors. They will be offered at three prices depending on which lens you choose: Standard lens = $90 Iridium lens = $125 Fire lens = $135 You will do this at the Oakley tent at our KOP Rail Jam on 2/23 and then walk into the KOP store to pay for the goggles. Bring the receipt back to the tent to receive your custom goggles. Limited quantities will be available. The Custom Goggle Bar will open at 3pm on Saturday 2/23. This is something that will ONLY be available at our Rail Jam. This is a test of a program Oakley wants to develop. The only other place it has been done was in Vegas for the industry. In the future there will be an up charge from Oakley for the Custom Goggle Bar. This time they are being offered at standard retail pricing.

Just got confirmation that Chris Rotax (placed 3rd in the NYC Union Square event!) and Yale Cusino are coming to our rail jam courtesy of Burton! They will be doing autographs in the KOP store Friday afternoon (2/22) and then will be spending the day Saturday at the rail jam. We are definitely going to have a Pro exhibition session just before the Event Finals. Boarders Erik Leines, Chris Rotax, and Yale Cusino, along with skier Ian Cosco are confirmed to appear and ride. Final details are still being worked out for JJ Thomas, Daron Rahlves, and a couple others. Hana Beaman is confirmed to appear but has a broken leg so no riding for her!

Well, we have reached 100 competitors!!!!! The online registration will be closed down tonight so there are a few hours left to sneak in if you haven't done so yet. After that no more online registrations. As far as On-Site registrations: We will ONLY accept Grommet Combined (12 and under) and Female Combined. On-site registration will begin at 1pm on Saturday the 23rd and will close at 2pm. Again, NO Open division On-site registrations will be accepted! All competitors will receive an e-mail by the end of the week (2/15) with details about the 23rd. Do not show up to compete without your signed liability release or without your parents (to sign a new one) with you if you are under 18. Just had final walk through with the Mall Management this morning and we are actually going to have a little more space than we expected. Things are shaping up nicely. See you on the 23rd!

I always have a jacket with the Buckman's logo on the back. That night it was my black Marker jacket with the quilted look. Next time stop me and say hi!

I was there! Had VIP access so I put some photos in a gallery. Hey, I'm not a photographer but had a digital camera with me. There are ones of the different features, the course from above, a shot standing at the top with the athletes, and one inside the VIP tent. Union Square Gallery

While i can't guarantee that Daron is going to throwdown on the rails - i know he loves to! If you have been following him at all since he "retired" from racing you will find that he is tearing up the skier cross circuit, is all about free skiing and he loves jumping in the park when he gets the chance. His pretty impressive resume includes 3 time Olympian and Super G World Champion. Oh yeah, and he is the reigning Skier X champion from X-Games 12! Not your typical rail rider but for the masses he is a big name!

As I type I'm standing in Union Square, NYC at the Union Square Street Sessions rail jam. All I can say is wow! But at the same time I think we could give them a run for their money. As an amateur event I think we will be about the best urban jam around. I am so stoked about our event. Looking for some quality riders to throw down big. See you on the 23rd!

Nestor's & Langhorne are combining for a demo day at Blue on 2/14. It's on all the ski reps' schedules so you should have a good chance to try some new stuff. Check with either of the shops for discount tickets if you don't have a pass. According to the master demo schedule put together by the ski reps, that is the last demo of the season. Before that they will be at Camelback with The Loft on Saturday 2/9. These are the only two ski demos left on the master schedule now that the show season is in full swing (Vegas this week, Stratton next, Annapolis the week of the 18th, then Edison the week of the 25th). fyi, the next 2 Elk Winterfest dates DO NOT have demos! normally they do but they fall during rep shows and no one can make it this year. Either way, make some turns and have fun!

Just added: Girls Combined Division! Get Details and Register Here or check out this other thread.
-
Ok, we have added a girls combined division! It will be for prizes. I have talked to our Roxy rep along with a few others and we will come up with some top notch female product prizes possibly even a board or skis. Our website has been updated so the drop down box when registering now has "female combined" as an option. I need you to get more than just a couple of girls to register so we have a good showing!
-
it's really a vicious circle: we don't have a girls division because we don't have enough girls stepping up and we don't have enough girls stepping up because we don't have a girls division but until the girls start showing up there can't be a girls division....... and it's really a no win situation. this year we added a skier division so the boarders and skiers aren't up against each other. now if we add a girls division we really need to add 2, one for skiers and one for boarders which would take the open divisions from 2 to 4. That would double the amount of prize money needed and really to do that we would need to cut the overall payout per division. is that fair to the other divisions? or do we make the girls compete as 1 division? at the same time, how do we justify giving a division winner $1500 if there ends up only being 5 or 6 in the division vs 75+ people in male snowboard division? i'll be honest with you, right now we have 50+ registered and less than 8 of those are skiers. last year everyone wanted a skier division and now there is one and so far the skiers aren't stepping up. and the circle goes on....
-
Registration is almost 50% full so be sure to register sooner rather than later! If it fills online then there won't be any registrations accepted day of! Once it's full it's full! Doesn't matter who you are you won't get in. On another topic - We just finalized the DJ and MC for our event: Skullcandy is bringing in DJ YoungBigMike and we have secured Snowboarding Legend Mike Estes to be our MC. Mike did the announcing for the 2007 Grand Prix. He was one of the founders of "Summer Camp" at Mt. Hood, and has done commentary for Snowboarding events on ESPN. check out this 1988 photo of Mike from transworldsnowboarding.com The way it's going it looks like we will have our 100 competitors before then. Not sure what to tell you other than perhaps you need to roll the dice and register.

I heard the story on the news last night. Just hearing about it without even knowing who it was was saddening. Now that I know it was someone with ties to PASR makes it even more so. I had a cousin pass away unexpectedly while skiing a couple of years ago. One thing that helped our family was simply knowing that it happened while my cousin was doing something she thoroughly loved and was happy at the time. It sounds like that is the case here as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
