  1. I love ELK! Especially with fresh snow. If you're looking to check out ELK - This Friday (the 18th) is a demo day! It's a multi-shop mega demo so there will be a lot of ski and board reps there. We have tickets for $20 so even if you're not into trying demos it's a good way to start the MLK weekend! fine print regarding the discount tix: You have to buy them in advance at a shop. If you loose the voucher or forget it you pay window price. If you end up not using them you get all your money back (at Buckman's anyway)! The other shops selling tickets for this Friday are: Berger
  2. it was a reply to both papa and dh. answering papa's questions about Planet Snow and Bill Van Gilder, etc... and dh's "ahahahahahahahahaha". guess i didn't pick up dh's quote when i was replying. got more registrations overnight. we are about 25% full already!

  5. Thanks for all the support Melissa! You have mentioned us in various threads. the great thing about our discount tickets is that if you don't use them, you can return them for a full refund (up to March 15th). buy what you think you will use and if the weather is nasty or you end up sick or hung over then just return the ones you didn't use. also, be aware that the Demos on the 3 demo days are limited based on which manufacturers show up and how many people are actively demoing. you can still buy the discount ticket even if you don't demo. also the Sn
  6. Probably a bit late now but if you are still looking for something check out our website Buckman's Ski & Snowboard Shops - Burton Products We are the largest Burton dealer in the region and if there is something specific you are looking for there's a good chance we have it. If we don't and Burton still has it in stock we're happy to order it for you. Happy Holiday's everyone! -John
  7. registration should be online early next week. i will let everyone know when it is ready. this year we are going to do it on our own website so there won't be any added fees. registration will be $30 BUT we are giving every competitor who pre registers online a pair of Skull Candy earphones ($25 value) plus a free lift ticket (approx. $50 value). not sure the exact lift ticket offer, it might end up being a buy one get one but anyway you slice it you will still get free skiing somewhere. could be Sno, could be somewhere in NY or VT. if you show up and register the day of you won't get the frebbies! only those who pre register online will be eligible to be chosen for the Charity Pro/Am. we will post a cut off date when we will choose the participants and everyone who registers before then has a chance to be paired with one of the pros. more will follow but this is going to be a definite don't miss event! -JL
  8. If you can handle the holiday crowds there is a "Mega Demo" Day at Sno on the Sunday the 30th. Most of the ski and board reps should be there. I know the major ones we carry will be. Pick up a discount ticket from any shop and you can save about $10. Think we sell Sno's weekend/holiday vouchers for $49. Window price is $55! OH yeah, that's for an extended open-close ticket. I'll be there, stop and say hi! Heading to Killington this weekend for my first turns of the season. Sounds like they are getting dumped on!
  9. Even if you don't compete it will be a great time! Lots of swag for all! We've moved the start time back to 3pm so if you aren't competing you can still spend the day on the slopes then come out in the afternoon and check out the event.
  10. Hey I know it's early but just wanted to let everyone in on some info about this season's rail jam: Sat 2/23/08 King of Prussia Mall Parking lot (over 8000 sq ft area) 3pm start Confirmed Pros as of 11/15/07 are: Keir Dillon JJ Thomas Erik and Bjorn Leines Hanna Beaman with more Pros to be determined. (we expect to have up to 10 Pros this year!) Ryan Neptune is going to handle the course set up. This year we are doing separate divisions for Boarders and Skiers! Still will do heat format. We are also working on a Pro/Am where we will pair a competitor with one of the Pros to compete as a team against the other Pro/Am pairs. In addition to throwing down your best trick with tips from a Pro, you will get face time with your Pro throughout the day and get to hang out at the VIP Hospitality Tent. For the Pro/Am you will need to be a registered competitor in either the Ski or Board division. We will set a date and all those pre-registered online by that date will be eligible to be selected for the Pro/Am. If we have 10 pros, we will randomly pick 10 from the registration list. We are still working out all the details for the Pro/Am but it should be fun! Hope to see you there...
  11. here's a couple youtube links for last year's rail jam:
  12. Yep, open to skiers and boarders.
  13. not that it will cure the early urge but mark your calendars - our February rail jam is going even bigger this year! It will be in the KOP Mall parking lot on Saturday 2/23. That's right, smack in the middle of King of Prussia! but shhh, you need to promise not to tell anyone yet..... there are still a few details to work out before it's official.
  14. Just got this in an e-mail. Don't know how many skiboarders there are on here but I thought I would spread the word. {Here's a photo of the models involved} linerecall.bmp ------------ RECALL NOTICE 2006 LINE "FLY" and "PRO" SKIBOARDS From the Line Skis website: In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Line and K2 Sports has recalled these skiboards because a manufacturing problem may allow the bindings to pull out of the skiboards, which could cause a skier to fall and sustain injuries. If you have these skiboards, STOP USING THEM IMMEDIATELY and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or to replace them with a new pair of K2 Fatty skiboards, free of charge. For more information, call LINE Skis at 800-987-2576 between 9 am and 5 pm, Pacific Time, or go to www.lineskis.com. According to the CPSC news release: Hazard: Screws installed improperly can cause the bindings to come loose or pull off the ski board during use, causing the skier to lose control or fall and suffer injuries. About 1,250 units are involved.
  15. The 4th grade PA Snowpass is a great program! You get a book of coupons which generally includes 3 lift tickets to each of the PA resorts along with special offers to many of the ski/snowboard shops (including Buckman's). I believe that to use the free tickets an adult has to buy a ticket. There are some areas who don't participate and Spring Mountain offers a free season pass to all 4th graders (at least they used to, check their website or call them to be sure) instead. This program isn't going to get your 4th grader skiing for free all season at your home mountain but if you want to try a bunch of different places you can save a bunch of money and get your 4th grader lots of time on the snow. There are other states like VT who have similar programs so search the web and be sure to sign up early. Most programs have a cut off date prior to the season starting. -Johnny Powder
  16. Don't know! We'll find out as we get closer. Blue has always been the Mtn who tickets all the jackets in the shops (not just at Buckman's) and Bear Creek did it one time. Greek Peak has done our junior jackets with free kids program tickets and I think Spring Mtn did all of our jackets a couple years in a row. I'm open to any of the mountains doing it. It's added value for our customers. oh, and on the whole "sponsorized" topic - we haven't done an official sponsored rider/skier program for quite a while but it is something we are thinking about bringing back. NO promises but as we get closer to the fall you might hear something.
  17. Well, here comes the PR side of me........ Buckman's Ski and Snowboard Shops is joining with Sno Mtn and will be opening a full service ski and board shop at the mountain beginning next fall. We are still working out all the details but we are expecting to have a 3000sq ft shop which will house a full retail store and demo center (both skis and boards). We will stock all of the same items we do in our current shops and will offer the same great expertise and service. We will offer our full array of workshop services as well. Like I said, the details are still being finalized but it is to the point that it is for "public knowledge". The Sno Mtn shop will be our 6th location. It will not be like a normal Mountain shop! It will be a full retail shop with a complete selection of hardgoods, accessories, and apparel. We expect the shop to open prior to the mountain. Once the Mountain is open the shop will operate 7 days. Sno Mtn is bringing skiing and snowboarding back to Scranton and Buckman's is giving Scranton the ski and snowboard shop they deserve. As more is finalized I will let you know!
  18. Just posted on saminfo.com "AMERICAN SKIING LOOKS AT SELLING MAINE RESORTS SAM Magazine--Park City, Utah, March 7, 2007--American Skiing Company (ASC), today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the Company to conduct a strategic review of options for its Sunday River and Sugarloaf resorts, both in Maine, including the potential sale of the resorts. “As a result of our recently announced resort sales, we’ve received a tremendous amount of interest in our remaining resorts. To ensure we maximize the value of these assets, we will commence a review of options for our Maine resort properties,” said ASC President and CEO B.J. Fair. Mr. Fair also noted that American Skiing Company would only pursue a sale of one or both resorts if the valuation and terms presented from a potential buyer were favorable. It is interesting to note that ASC founder Les Otten resigned from the board last week, prompting rumors about his interest to return to Sunday River as an owner. And as for the one last resort not for sale in the once-mighty American Skiing Company empire--The Canyons--a legal dispute stands in the way. “With respect to The Canyons, we are continuing our efforts towards successful and favorable resolution of the litigation involving the resort,” says Fair. (For more on the dispute, refer to a breaking news item on this site on July 7, 2006.) Sunday River features 131 trails spread across eight interconnected mountain peaks, serviced by a network of 18 lifts, including four high-speed quads. In the 2005-2006 winter season, Sunday River was the fourth most visited winter resort in the eastern U.S., with more than 473,000 skier visits. Sugarloaf/USA boasts New England’s longest continuous vertical drop (2,820 feet) and only lift-serviced above-treeline skiing. Sugarloaf/USA attracted more than 310,000 skier visits in the 2005-2006 winter season. " THAT TAKES MOST OF THE SKIING OUT OF AMERICAN SKIING CORP!
  19. Here's a quote from an e-mail I received from Belleayre... "This bulletin goes out to all those dedicated Riders and Skiers, that *missed the boat* this past weekend, March 3 and 4. The conditions at Belleayre Mountain over the weekend were impeccable to say the least, from the fresh powder that blanketed the mountain to our first-class grooming; if you, your family and friends were not hitting the slopes you really did indeed miss some of the most spectacular ski conditions to hit the east coast this season. I do however have some good news for all of you and you heard it here first! It is not too late to enjoy the spectacular conditions at Belleayre and at the same time take advantage of some of the greatest discounts of this season. We have approached March with roaring, mad promotions and it*s time for all of you to get on *board.* MARCH MADNESS PROMOTIONS - To all College Students, come in pairs and show proper ID at any ticket location on the mountain and you will get one of the lift tickets absolutely free. - 17 & under ski free & stay free when staying at a participating lodging establishment. - Every Friday in March and for the rest of the season is a skier appreciation $15.00 Friday. - Groups are "Cheaper by the Dozens" during the month of March. Bring a group of 24 or more to ride and ski from 3/19 -3/31 and get a $24.00 Lift, Lesson & Rental package. Stay tuned for upcoming *snow* showers of discounts for the month of April. Anyone requesting more information regarding our fantastic conditions or astonishing discounts please call Lori Knapp at 845-254-5600 ext.444 or email me at llknapp@gw.dec.state.ny.us " I have been there and it has some nice terrain. I can't tell you about the park or pipe but they have some nice glades and steeps. There is also plenty of terrain for the beginner & intermediate types. When we were there we stayed at some crappy little motel which I think has since been redone. Think it was the Margaretville Motel and Suites on Main when it was just the Margaretville Motel. It was cheap and it is only about 2-3 miles from the mtn. There isn't really much close by but check out the lodging options on http://www.catskillhighpeaks.com/lodging/M...fficiencies.php Have fun!
  20. Directly quoted from an e-mail to me from Atomic: ---- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Daron Rahlves Injured at Ski Tour Will Miss Buckman
  21. The Sunday Atomic, Buckman's, Pinnacle, Red Bull event with Daron Rahlves has been cancelled. The Saturday Nastar with AJ Kitt is seperate and is still a go. If Daron's doctors would let him fly he would be here! sorry Danger!
  22. URGENT! THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED! Apparently Daron got hurt over the weekend and his doctors won't let him fly. I don't have all the details but something with blood clotting and the like. We were really psyched about having him here. We will try to reschedule but realistically this will probably happen next winter.
  23. Love Parrotbeach! They are just like being at a Buffett concert without the high ticket price! too bad I will be in Killington that weekend. would almost rather be at BC for Parrotbeach (i said almost!). Nice job Mark & Mary, giving back to your passholders like that. Sounds like a great day for PASR's to unite and visit BC. Those that don't have a pass can be the guest of those that do.
  24. I agree, but unfortunately there was a one day window in his schedule and Atomic was willing to fly him out. Good Luck at the PA Cup!
  25. No public racing for Daron - sorry! Don't want someone getting overly excited thinking they can beat Daron and wiping him out into the woods or something! Daron will cruise the mountain with small groups (be sure to stop by the Buckman's tent to sign up) with each group getting about 30 minutes. I am sure the group will still motor at a pretty good clip. I don't picture Daron moving very slow. Before you start moaning - the groups with Daron will use the ski school lift lines and won't have to wait. Each group should get a few runs before the time is up. You will have a couple of minutes on the lift to chat with Daron and a few runs to compare your style/ability. Should be fun, I know I'm looking forward to this even though I have to work all day! (yeah, some call it work...)
