montage is opening after elk...big bear will be open but only with the bunny hill and a hike park. also i work at elk, and although they didnt announce an official day yet, i was told to be at work tuesday for 7am...
-
if anything they will have upper/ lower tunk, and smaller trails liek hiawatha and tioga spur. but thats about it

ive talked to people on snowmaking up there...apparently this pond in question doesnt even get used for snowmaking. elk just spent a ton of money building several new snowmaking ponds across the road from the mountain. I dont think blocking access to the shared pond would really do much. all talk

they blew last night for sure check webcams
-
of course as soon as i post this they change the webcam angle so you cant see the whole mountain

Check out the webcam photos...blowing snow on susquehanna and slalom? hard to tell with the low resolution www.elkskier.com

lock up your stuff....i ski elk literally every day of the week and live 5 minutes away. got a little too confident and sure enough my skis were stolen last night. idk why anyone would even want them. they had like 5 inches od edge missing and the brakes didnt work. but if anyone sees line anthems (snowboarder graphic) with marker griffins and line stickers please let me know

Well got up to Elk at about 11 a.m. There was about 5 or 6 inches on the ground already and conditions were great. Skied the diamonds over on the day side of the mountain all day. By about 3:00 p.m. there was about 9 inches on the ground and everything was excellent. Most of my day was spent in the woods over on the day side of the mountain. Hardly saw a ski patroller all day and hit so many fresh lines. Hit some sweet woods between Tioga and Tunkhanock from about 3-4 then hit some more woods between Iroquois and Delaware for out last run. Found some nice little cliffs and drops and over all had a really sick day. About 10 inches were on the ground already when I left at about 4 30 and they are calling for up to 18-20 inches total after tonight. Elk should be pristine tomorrow morning and I plan to be up there bright and early to get it while its fresh.

they get pretty busy. last year on wvia day, it was the absolute shittiest days of skiing ever condition wise, but it was still majorly crowded with goobers and rental skis

That little area is actually going to be a second park this year. It is supposedly going to be a "street course" so we will see what that will all be about. Its supposed to open on saturday.
