Today was seriously legit. I wasn't skiing that great to start off with but got into my groove as the morning went on. It was really great seeing and skiing with everyone. Days like this really make skiing fun, just wish I didn't have to leave at noon. Aside from the lift problems they were having (I've never seen them have issues like that in the past) today was a totally kick ass day. Everything was nice.... mad tree glade was mad deep glade today. Challenge glade was $$$$, the bumps on exhibition were a buttery soft leg burner, Tel-star woods were deep, Risk it was actually worth risking it... although an appearance by "Seth Morrison" made me look like a chump while trying to figure out my line. (pretty much only Dan and Dom will get this... one of those had to be there moments... Really...I mean REALLY?? Are you kidding me right now?? lmfbo... who knew Seth would be skiing Jackson Frost this weekend.) Toast had a kick ass line in risk it.... Dom was dropping it like it was hot... Johnny Style was straight killing it.... Senor Grilled Skeeze actually made 3 legit turns on the elevator... Atomic Dick Deep Jeff went bushwacking in the risk it backcountry in search of the Jackson Frost Bigfoot (Avy Beacon and probe required) Think Snow Greg was testing out how baller a man can get with loose binders dropping the east mtn lift. Barb went shopping for a new VW Beetle on river shot... Noxidee was busy demonstrating how close one can get to a tree and turn at mach 5. Gotta thank Nox for picking up my ski after the "wooly mammoth" jumped out of the woods directed me to the local Bark tasting that was about to start (another had to be there moment) Did you guys end up doing the locker expedition? Twas a sick day fo shizzle and one for the record books... Glad I could be there to partake in it with everyone.

Very droppable. Not for me though. Those 2 trees at the bottom of the drop has been enough to keep me from trying the drop portion pretty much all season.

I'm even more tempted to do it because GSS thinks I can't. Personally I don't think I care about doing it enough to even warrant the attempt but when peeps doubt me and I get motivated I normally make them look like tools. Like I said though I'm not motivated to even goto the mountain right now let alone try boarding which I know takes a serious commitment to succeed

Not those kinds of bumps.... Out west they can be fun (even if I don't prefer them, they are soft and forgiving) Big piles of hard ass bumps with ice in between them is NOT fun for me... It blows hard because it makes the already small mountain that much smaller for someone like me.

A pass to blue would not have changed anything honestly.. I like JFBB because I like the freedom to go anywhere, not just bomb it down as many times as I can before the crowds arrive. Skiing anything less than 3 (really more like 3.5) hours for me is a total waste of time.. It takes me that amount of time to drive back and forth, and to me spending more time in the car than on the mountain just doesn't make sense unless you are just hard up for some slope time. (i.e. killington nov. 2008) Blue might be closer, but the difference in drive time is seriously unnoticeable Staying all day isn't really an option either as I'm already pretty much sticking my wife with all the household chores that need to get done and 90% of the time both of the 2 little kids. I can't afford to bring all the kids all the time, and getting my wife to the slopes is like a getting root canal. I guess I'm just going through the mid season blues.... I still might give snowboarding a shot though just for something different to mess around with..... I like trying new things anyway.

Ever since my return from Tahoe I've been really lacking interest in skiing anything longer than 3 hours tops. If conditions aren't perfectin the trees or elevator I get annoyed and just want to leave. Regular trails is just monotanous and I hate waiting in any sort of liftline whatsoever. Its really bumming me out. Anyway I've been thinking since my two little ones are going to be learning and on the beginner hills that maybe I can take advantage of it and try snowboarding out. I'm positive I will suck at it and I doubt I'd do much with it other than mess around. But it wouldn't be boring. I dunno just an idea I've been tossing around

News just said pocono summit has 19 inches so far. I still think I'm bailing and just going to work tomorrow. Ever since my Tahoe trip. The poconos have bored me. (Sole exception being pow day with jfskidan. Mike and schiff. And the day zach went but I was just happy he was happy). Pasr day will be fun so ill just wait till sat

This news blows hard.

The narrowest skis I own are 85 at the waist...lol (waist skis in my quiver... 85.91.105.115 and I like the 115's the best I think) I used to rock skiboards at one time and now I'm balling on some 115 waisted skis in a 190.... there are days they suck, but the majority of the time they kick arse!!
-
bailing on today I think.... going to be too tough to drive through it up there and then have them possibly close the lift down for wind tonight then have to drive back to DelCo through the worst of it only to go to work in the am... Friday at JF looks like more of a possibility right now, but even that's not a definite

sounds like a legit day to me....

And you know this how??? My experience... Both of my kids absolutely loved it and wanted to stay as long as possible... Sure they got cold and wanted lunch and to go to the bathroom and all that, but... they sure as hell didn't want to leave. On the other hand, if the child hates it they would want to leave...who wouldn't?? Give the kid the best chance at enjoying it by going on a midweek day or slower weekend day so there isn't a zillion people around and more importantly on a day where the temperature isn't absolutely freezing. The most important thing in teaching anyone something new is patience.

wow.... ummm this is stupid as hell looking face shots would be mad easy... I'd love to see some vid of this contraption in some deep pow....lmao
-
Sorry...but I'm leaning towards Spring Mountain on this one
-
Do your kids in the race program need to be there for a certain amount of time?? Not really sure how that whole thing works...honestly Is it just me, or did the lifts seem to be going even slower than normal last weekend???

No need to let Floyd's bump up.... just ski the right side of elevator if you want some ungroomed Exhibition makes sense for bumps as it can be done on half the trail. Bumps on Floyd's would turn River shot into a crowded ass bobsled trail. There's really only two main ways down east mtn. using one for bumps makes no sense when it's been so busy there. Early or real late season... sure go ahead let floyd's bump up... Xmas Week through 1st week of March groomed is the way to go IMO FWIW... the last time they let floyd's bump up it was done from opening (early season)

LMAO.....sick

LOL... Let's just hope that POE = Powder in this circumstance..

I'm spoiled... it was like gaperfest presidents weekend all over again so I bailed around 10:30 Didn't feel like waiting in line (even if it was only like 4 chair wait at the time I could see it getting busier and busier each run) and the trees/elevator were straight hardpack

Mayor Nutter doesn't want anyone to know about it as it's not really eco-friendly.

Timmy bus don't run during snowstorms
phillycore replied to Robert2's topic in Jack Frost & Big Boulder
Glad That You And The Mrs. Had Fun In The Sun Because The Timmy Bus Didn't Run During The Snow Storms. Seriously though, Schiff, JF Ski Dan, and I were looking for you last Thursday on Lehigh while on our way over to score some freshies in the duck or get stuck stash. We even named a stash after you over on east mountain. Robert's Run.... and it was EASILY the best run of the day last thursday!!!- 1 reply
