Ya, I'm a Drexel senior, I live on summe street. I don't think I can go on saturday, i have my company's holiday party that night. what time were you planning on staying till?
-
i wanna know whats gonna open besides whats here: http://www.skibluemt.com/WhatsNew/

anyone headed up from philly? i'm looking to share a ride/tolls/gas.
-
Are the new trails Rattler, Sidewinder, and Baby Moose? When will these show up on the trail map?
-
My friend can't go with me anymore. I'm looking to carpool on friday, I'm coming from philly, right near exits 343 and 345 on i76. I'm not definitely going yet, but is anybody interested in carpooling if I am? I'd prolly get there for the 12:30-5 session, prolly stay on the slopes after 5 if my knee is holding up.

they have the fountains that aerate the water if the ambient temp is lower than the water temp.
-
lol, i know, but i have to ask. the worst thing they can say is no. and then i'll just not be showing up.
-
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I figured they'd prolly be opening more trails than what are listed, my complaint is based on their advertised opening of Easy Out, Vista, Midway, Main Street, and Come Around. I still dont feel like opening Lazy in addition merits full prices as well, but what can i do? I'm up for the trip if my friend decides that he wants to spend the money. I figured i'll be going for 12:30-5 and paying $25 with the discount, so that's not terrible. we'll see come thursday-friday when they say what trails theyre actually opening.

Huh, I thought Blue opened last year on the same weekend, December 9. I remember because I skipped my work's holiday party to come up (and i just verified it in my 06-07 stats). Why only make a fuss about JFBB? Anyway, SkiCamelback, what are your lift ticket prices for opening weekend? Full price or discount? I only ask because I'm a student on an extremely limited budget, and I can't/won't pay full price for limited terrain. Blue disappointed me in this regard, so I'm just looking for alternatives for opening weekend.
-
I just called Blue, they said lift tickets would be regular price on Friday. This is bullshit. They'll only have Easy Out, Vista, Midway, Main Street, and Come Around open on Friday. They had the same trails last year at half price. I don't think it's worth it to pay full price for this limited trail selection. Sounds like I probably won't be skiing at Blue this Friday...damn.

I think your directions may be mixed up. Don't you mean the cameras are on the skier's right? You directions make sense if looking at the trail map. The cameras are around Black Bear Park, Cascade, and the lodge area, all which are on the skier's right side of the mountain if headed downhill. Am I not right? Regardless, I agree with Skierboy. It would be cool to see the other side of the mountain and I've thought about this before. However, remember that the cameras are focused on the parks and base area. These are all places where activity is centered. Also, they may not have the facilities to put cameras farther away from the base area. You need a power supply to the camera (which I'm sure wouldnt be terribly difficult considering they have power for lifts, lighting, and snow guns), and a communications line back to the base area (or wherever their server is located). (Out of personal curiosity) Mark, at what voltages do your snow guns and lighting operate? How about the lifts?

Do you sell discount tickets for any other mountains?
-
Looks like i won't be winning those tickets...guess i'll actually have to scrape together some funds to take my girlfriend skiing.
-
auction those tix off to me, i need cheap tix to teach my girlfriend how to ski.
-
Looks like theyre blowing...
-
Where are they going to install the new lift? With the other two lifts at the bottom, it seems like things could be cramped.
-
On the webcam it looks like theyre still doing work by the tubing area....i watched a dump truck drive by, and its all dug up. what are they doing about that?
-
The article in this post had the marketing director saying that there will be seven new trails for this year.
-
Wow, that's a lot of land to work with. Since paradise sticks out so far, it seems like they'd have to make trails that re-connect with Paradise, or build another lift in the middle of the forest and have a bunch of trails that end there. The latter seems like a better idea, but more costly. Personally, I feel like they should have cut the new trail first (the one opening next yet) and then installed the 6-pack. I typically ski on weekends since I have school in Philly during the week...so it seemed like the trails were more crowded during the days. I know we all want to see more downhill capacity, and more trails.
-
I was bored and looking on local.live.com, and i came across this great pic of the base of Blue. Blue - Aerial Looks like the reservoirs are empty in this shot. Also, how much of the land do you think Blue owns to the east of Paradise? Would they ever expand into that area?
-
isn`t `Blue [Mountain] Powder` an paradox?
-
Did they have snow guns on the new trail?
-
Sno cleaned up the website. Somebody must be reading PASR...now they just need to update the trail map with the new trails.

I agree. I don't care to go to BB because of the lack of vert and lack of difficult trails, but I am extremely impressed with the effort they put forth to open (not just for a weekend but for over an entire week). I've never been a passholder at a mountain (will be next year at Blue) but I would be very appreciative of the mountain for doing something like this if i bought a pass there. BB might not be making a ton off their operation at the moment, but it is a great thing to do for the few hundred people who dropped hundreds of dollars on their season passes in advance. If my knee wasn't messed up at the moment I would probably drive up this weekend and squeeze in a few turns (hell, I might do it anyway with a bummed knee).
