There is a Scranton Times-Tribune editorial online that is centered around this HUGE question they want answered: "The commissioners explored a sale several years ago but did not proceed when no offer reached the minimum price of $9.6 million. What prompted the decision to waive that price? And, once the price was waived, why not launch another broad-based sale effort in order to achieve the highest possible price, even if it still is less than what is owed?" Why the fuck doesn't the newspaper editorial board know that the reason is that the ski area is only appraised at a little over $4million? Hey editors: I'd like to sell my house for $9.6million, too. Think I should hold out for it, even if it falls apart? Just freaking brilliant....rocket scientists.

You guys should come up to the mountain tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6pm to show some support for the sale to go through. The company that wants to buy Montage is promising 7 feet of snow by December. You can shout "F*ck YOU" to the asshead politician Mr. Washo who is being a p*ssy about the deal. And anyone that threatens DH on this MB can't be all that bad... Hey, we never invited Doug! Oh, you mean the Montage kids...sry...
-
But did your's come with the matching keyring?
-
Firstly, I think you have to have big boobs to ride it: Secondly, if you guys start boogie boarding in the Poconos, you lose the right to trash talk snow tubing forever.
-
I'd pay $15 for DH's Hello Kitty backpack.
-
I'm pretty sure I'll be back from the shore, but no guarantees. I'd also like to get there to see some of my buds.
-
Tubing pays bills and gives people like 4 More Assasins a place to work. Not all bad. And f*ck it, if they say they can pump out seven feet by December, then they should be good for 60 feet by March...we really will be skiing next June. Sno Mountain LLC rocks!

Here's today's story at it appears online (Washo acts like such a pussy): News that Lackawanna County has finally received an offer for Montage Mountain Ski Resort has done nothing to dampen the political intrigue surrounding the facility
-
Well, MS, I've always been happy with things the way they were. So any company that comes in and just spruces things up is an ideal new owner. I was watching a random video tape the other night that was of a CBS sitcom from a year or two ago and there was a promo for the local news...the teaser said "Lackawanna homeowners face 50% property tax increase as the county tries to balance the budget." Lackawanna residents are pretty fed up with footing the bill for bad decisions. Even if the new company doesn't succeed, they'll have at least spent a bunch of their own money and spruced it up to be attractive to a higher quality resort owner. It's the same as buying an old house from the originally owner. Your chances of finding lots of hidden problems are pretty good, as opposed to buying it from someone that's just done some renovations but ran out of money.
-
Yeah, MS, the county contracted with vendors at the stadium, then got behind in their payments TO the vendors. Same with the jail.
-
Actually, MS, one of the reasons they need to sell Montage is to pay off the stadium vendors. So they are selling Montage to a well-run company to help cover your paycheck. Win/win situation, eh?

Breaking News: Philly company submits Montage bid 1:30pm By: Roger DuPuis II / Staff Writer 06/23/2006 A Philadelphia-based limited liability company has made a pitch to buy Montage Mountain from Lackawanna County for $4.1 million plus $14 million in upgrades to the facility -- a total of $18.1 million poured into the resort within five years. In a letter of intent dated Wednesday, Sno Mountain LLC said it would add an $8 million water park to the resort along with enhanced ski facilities. "With this investment, we expect to attract 160,000 unique ski visits between December and March and 250,000 unique water park visits between May and September," the firm wrote. Failure to invest $18.1 million within five years would result in a default on the agreement, according to Sno Mountain's offer. "This is only an offer. It is not a deal. It is not an agreement," majority commissioner Robert C. Cordaro said during a Friday afternoon press conference announcing the offer. The next step will be a public hearing on the offer, tentatively slated for Wednesday evening at Montage. Representatives of Sno Mountain are expected to attend and talk more about their plans. I'll be there Wednesday to do my part with a sign that says SELL IT NOW YOU ASSHEADS!

The company that owns Windham and Roundtop, Snow Time, offered to simply take it over two years ago and ensure a lot of county employees future employment, as well as give locals a better shot at not having their local ski area join NELSAP. But Lackawanna said no...they wanted a huge payday, so to speak. Which cost tax payers a couple of million dollars, so far. GREAT DECISION. And now they feel like they are in a position to bargain and nail a great deal? And the last paragraph of the story just shows how ingorant Mr Washo is:

Montage resort sale near BY ROGER DUPUIS II STAFF WRITER 06/18/2006 The sale of Montage Ski Resort by Lackwawanna County could be very close at hand, majority Commissioner A.J. Munchak confirmed Saturday.
-
Absolutely not. I would never do that. PM me next time

Man, Schif, not a whole lot of companies are looking to pick up ski areas with a recent track record of seven figure annual losses. I know what you mean, that it may force change, but there's a really big possible downside. Sucks that they didn't just take Snow Time's offer of a straight-up takeover. They would have saved $2 million so far. And we'd be taking a high speed detachable quad...

Sometimes boring is okay.
-
Real nice. Real nice, guys. Try to do a public service and that's what I get? You sound like a couple of TGRers. And, hey, didn't I hook Doug up with a comp last year? Are you suggesting you had to earn it, Doug? Wanna tell everyone what you had to do? Remember it's family friendly...
-
Cool. It sucks when you two fight. MS loses his temper a lot and TP4 knows how to drive people nuts; both excellent qualities, but bound to clash with one another. So just keep some sorta peace as best you can and remind me I owe you night tickets to Blue in December.
-
And I heard it!
-
Hey, I'll buy both you guys a night ticket at Blue next season if you kiss and make up. Really. And no tongue necessary.
-
Yep. They won't let me joy ride any of the county dump trucks or bulldozers, either. F*ckers.
-
You are paying someone to tune your skis? I'll do it if I see you this summer/fall.
-
Lucky for me that you don't know what the f*ck you're talking about. I, on the other hand, paid $50 ($61.03 delivered) for brand new boots that retail for $650 and retained a feature that one newer generation didn't have. Some people buy what's shoved at them by ski shops every year. Some people buy what's best.
