Ski

KMart has everything, including the crowds. Blue's Challenge and Razor's really are terrific slopes, but give me a shorter headwall slope that is empty. That's just my preference. If you want to ski and party with lots of people, then hit KMart. If you want a cool ski experience, then go someplace else. There are so many option in New England, I just can't imagine picking the absolute busiest, most crowded place to go, unless I was also looking to hook up at night. And DOUGLAS, Zonked and I are just buds, so you and are going to have to find out if he's a girl on your own. He/she does make some good points---I'm starting to lean toward girl. But that's NOT her in the pic. No possible way. PS Sexkitten: Even though we're being either a little mean or a little perv, we do appreciate your attitude and welcome you here wholeheartedly. But the girl thing is still sketchy.

I was walkin' in as you were walkin' out. I don't hold it against Blue that it got cold after it was warm. Scary numbers of people, though.

This week's weather has nothing to do with what'll be happening in late Feb. And, yes, I'd avoid KMart like the plague for what you are likely looking for. Okemo, S'Bush, Jay Peak, Smuggs, or Stowe...any over KMart. And Gore in NY, or anything in NH. "Bang for your buck" Until I see proof, I'm totally convinced of that.

Great flurou weekend, 'Mom. And I asked the Blue race crew about ASRA's dual GS last night: it's on Raceway, according to them. They already have dual posts set up for the two wands. I really like the NASTAR at Blue, but putting a dual GS on Raceway is kind of a bummer. They should keep races on Razor's...that's an adrenalin rush course.

I'm out for RT, 'Mom. A good excuse to get Ty back in gates, either at Montage or Belleayre this weekend.

Really? At the bottom of the bigger headwall? Maybe I'm crazy, but that's just the coolest spot to me. It's like the flat ground just rushes up at you.

Common sense is the rule in both places. Name one thing you just named about parks that isn't covered by common sense. So, yeah, it'd be great to have a diamond that you could bomb down and not encounter a newbie resting over the lip of a headwall. CB Rangers used to regularly stop me on Cliffhanger for skiing too fast, which wouldn't have been a problem if bunny skiers weren't laying all over the headwall. Not an arguement, just wanted to point out that parks aren't the only place where newbies screw up the fun and maybe a little extra deterence would help.

Ha, I was at Blue today and the conditions completely sucked. Death cookies and then frozen slush after the sun went down. I didn't break anything, though. I suppose BC and CB people had a 2-foot powder day, Rob. Dude, didn't you know about the compression at the bottom of WL? It's there year-round...there's another on the second headwall of Cannonball. I LOVE them! Sorry you got wrecked, though.

Cute pic, but not in Zonked's league. Like a bottle of wine, I prefer them understated and don't mind waiting an extra 10 years, or so.

Trails bottleneck, so there's no limit to how crowded a trail can get.

It's sort of like asking Vail or 7 Springs. I have been to the Trembling Mountain several times because some of our family members like a gentle place with haute cousine. So, IMO you should take Doug to Whistler.

It's a dark day when skiers start siding with closing a mountain because of lack of attendance. Are you people really concerned that CB will profit $1.2 million instead of $1.4 million this year? You're worried that they'll be driven out of business by dropping their profit margin slightly by being open when there's a breeze and some rain? It's one of the few things a mountain can do to actually give back to the diehard loyalists: be open. I was p*ssed that Montage closed because of high winds at the summit, while the North Face was experiencing 10mph winds, with gusts to 20mph. We didn't even know it was windy! Some ski areas actually build lifts that are wind protected, just to stay open. Montage has a naturally wind protected lift and closed anyway. If they fear people being upset that conditions are too icy, then implement a one hour return policy that so many other mountains have. If after an hour after purchase you find conditions too bad, return for a voucher to ski/board another day. Or, just CLOSE.

If you're going to ask me in a public post WTF is my problem, then that's not private, is it? DH hated on my friends for an entire year, constantly telling them they were idiots. Would it have come out of nowhere if he called you a "f*ing idiot"? If he'd apologized for it, that'd be another thing. Most of the time he pops in to bash someone, but this time he didn't, so he's a great guy...okay.

Yeah, save the sympathetic garbage about being closed for the Ski Area Management forum. Our ski hill is only open Fri/Sat/Sun/Holidays because we cater to newbies that only come up on weekends to maximize profit. Anyone that truly believes ski areas should shut down because it rained a little the day before is a stinkin' commi pinko squirrel eater. I got home early from my assignment and could be gently swaying on a chairlift right now.
