An official challenge has been made by Volklfreeskier...he says Rob just isn't that good. We don't punch people here on this board (got that MS ) no matter how much some people may deserve it. We settle it on the hill. I know nothing about Volklfreeskier, although I seem to recall he dissed Montage once...but that's okay, we don't mind. My money is on Volklfreeskier...

Yeah, baby, new thread time!

You can't do an accurate release tension check yourself, Metz. Shops will do it in 30 seconds and only charge you $25 Ask them to lubricate, as well (the bindings, not you)

Turtles have fur?

Out of respect for their privacy I won't say which older brother dated the SHS cheerleading team... Eh, no smiley for envy CAT coaching

So is Chance going to be a pain in the *ss for dad's of ski girls, too?

It crossed my mind that Doug should be doing this while I was the start area. I think Upper to Lower Fast Track would be the most fun to tuck...but a groomed WL might be fastest. They have to remove the cones at the lift and that compression at the bottom of the headwall might take out a lot of people. We should try it....

Except that the US Ski Team is spending $100,000 that was raised through mostly private contributions---including from my family---for Bode to race drunk and crash in 12 of his last 14 slalom races. Now, if Bode quit the team and skied independantly, like another US racer did a couple of years ago, then let him drink and crash all he wants. Bode cares a lot about sponsorships, though. He took over a million dollars from Atomic this year. Right now Atomic is very happy that their other sponsored skiers are leading the World Cup. BTW, Bode continued his downward slide in this weekend's races. I hope he bottoms out and gets his sh*t together for Turin. I really don't know anyone that really wishes bad things for Bode, it's just hard to root for someone that acts and talks like such a jerk*ff. And blaming the press for sensationalism? Bode said it on camera. Period. Last year, Bode drank at least five shots and two beers within 8 hours of course inspection of a World Cup race on camera, then crashed in the third gate of a course that nobody else fell on. Yeah, it's everyone else's fault. Pffft.

Coaches take the kids through a course inspection before each run for the J4/5 and even first year J3's. If you miss a gate or are unprepared for a gate in a basic giant slalom, it's a little absurd for a parent to blame the coach or lack of gate training. My daughter never went around a GS gate the wrong way as a 4 yr. old on similar courses. Congrats on 5th place. And congrats to all the kids from the East and Northeast divisions of PA that raced.

Ha, but Doug, aren't there parking spaces for your car outside most bars?

Is "1" another word for *sshead?

International Ski Federation President Gian Franco Kasper said he felt sorry for Miller but that the American's statement did not endanger the sport's reputation. "It's his own mistake," told the AP by telephone. "It's completely stupid that he said it and not exactly what he should tell young people. We aren't really concerned (for the sport). I think everyone knows it's stupidity. I feel sorry for him because he's killing his reputation. "But there is no minimal IQ limit within alpine skiing."

The Swix speed race was awesome, too. They set up a radar gun at the bottom of the second breakover, with the start from the top race shack. The men's top speed was 56mph (I did 53mph). That's one of the cool things about racing: it's okay to ski as fast as you can. BTW, Jeff, you finished 10th overall among all men's age classes.
-
Eh, didn't Atomic Jeff predict your time? Or are you just in harmony with his thoughts? 8*)

Ha, skierboi is already good with his cheesy pick-up lines.

A recurring theme developed early: someone would crash really hard in the frozen slush, or the too small finish area that didn't allow you to safely stop (not Blue's fault, just the snow conditions). We would laugh really loudly and cheer. Then, "Are you okay, dude?" Mbike-ski probably had the fanciest crash, exiting the finish area between the netting at nearly full speed; Jeff took first for most crashes at the same spot on the course; Think apparently scared the watchers the best by wiping out toward them, but the fence stopped him. And I admit I fell down on Lazy Mile trying to check my watch heading to my Jeep. What what? Yeah, Doug doesn't mind telling a 16 yr old girl that she doesn't have anything to worry about because he knows she's jailbate. That, folks, is what NASTAR is all about, IMO.

Lindsey Kildow (USA) is my fav chick; and Massimiliano

Hahahaha... I think he's crashed in 11 of his last 13 slalom races and hasn't qualified for the US Olympic slalom squad, yet. Let's hope a coach spikes his J

IDK...he's a guy that people say can remember every turn of every run. How could someone like that ever put themselves in a position to be wasted on a race course, if it weren't a serious problem? John Daly and his Round of Tears...now that was entertaining golf!

Mickey Mantle spent his entire life after baseball wishing he'd treated his body better when he was at his peak....instead of drinking and partying. Bode could be an all-time legend, maybe the greatest ever.
-
I thought you guys were crazy when you suggested Bode would ever possibly show up for a race "wasted". But you guys were both right, according to Bode. I just saw an excerpt from an upcoming "60 Minutes" where he says he's shown up for races "wasted". I believe he meant he was just drunk...but whatever.

I'll hook you up with some fluoro to try, Metz.

They got some ages wrong. Steph Kopko is a J2 (15 or 16). They listed her as 11-12 yr. old. And Rob, you really don't know anything about how this works. Here's the link to the pacesetter trails...Brad Sweeney had a 15! And my Montage guys have 10 points higher than last year. http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=r...43946&year=2006 It's a very inexact science, for sure.
