So anyone know what Slopes will be open this Friday?
Ski replied to GorillaXBiscuits's topic in Montage Mountain
The guys in the chair in front of me had the chairs bouncing pretty hard while they were unloading him at the top, but the cable locks tight when it gets to the top wheel for unloading, so they didn't even notice...they gave it their best, though. -

Sunday afternoon was the first time I ever had to stop and wait for someone to be loaded on the Phoebe in a patrol sled. The way they load them on the back of the chair makes for one f*cked up looking ride up the hill---not a lot of mountains have to evacuate someone uphill... -
That sucks so bad it's funny.

Yeah, I'm lookin' at that lineup of ski boots and wondering what kind of lesson it is.

It came on up against OLN's World Cup coverage and I imagine the celeb race crushed OLN in ratings, even just among households with OLN. I was trying to take commercials out of the World Cup races, but not watch them yet, so I got to see Joey Pants race---truly inspiring to see what a celeb is willing to do for a little extra face time. They bitched about the weather so much, I figure they just might move it indoors next season....freaking winter sports are just so inconvenient.

I think they buy their electricity as a package and it doesn't make a difference in the cost if they leave the lights on. Not that it's efficient and not a waste...

I have the same jacket as Jeff...a mostly red Spyder. The only time I'm ever in the lodge is to bang on the candy machine to get the tropical Skittles to fall out for my 5-yr-old. -

We went up for an hour or so tonight...kind of expected it to be a little busier on a Saturday night. -
A cow? VAL D'ISERE, France, Today- Lindsey Kildow and Caroline Lalive took the top two spots in a blustery World Cup downhill Saturday at Val d?Isere, France. "I won in Lake Louise but I still hadn't won a race in Europe and it feels good," said Kildow, who organizers awarded with a cow for her victory. Organizers gave Kildow a Tarine cow, the beast that makes milk for Beaufort cheese. She says she may give it to her injured friend Maria Riesch.

Montage has 200 more vert ft. and has 140 acres as opposed to CB's 139 (Blue has 100). As to snow quality, with 50 times the number of skiers at CB and much more uphill capacity per hour, which ski area would be more likely to have better snow by noon on a weekend? And, just a weather fact, it's colder at Montage by about two very critical degrees. Look, nobody from Montage has been saying to come here, other than to ski/ride with friends. Montagers don't diss CB for the most part, we're just a little afraid of all those people.

It's easy to become a teacher, just really hard to become (and stay) a great teacher.
-
My best man was a school teacher and her biggest gripe was having to get up so early...which meant having to leave clubs early and go to bed. But being around school teachers a lot for work, I, uh, sorta get your meaning.
-
Montageskier's even starting to rub off on the school teachers!
-
Ha! But shhhhhhh...we like people hating on Montage...it keeps the lines short. CB is BIGGER and BETTER (and not just the enormous weekend lines they have while we ski up to the empty lifts). But what's the b*tching about? This is a SKIING and RIDING message board, not a ski area management message board. We sorta prefer to have ski areas open, despite a little RAIN; let management enjoy their convenient money-saving closure excuses on thier own MB. I think Rob knows how to operate a bulldozer and sometimes loses his temper big time.

Well, in all fairness, there's a lot of glare on the damp roads from the bright sunshine. And the warm temps have squirrels out finding food along the roads, so there's that hazard.
-
"Camelback will be closed today due to freezing rain and icing conditions." That's just hilarious, since the roads are a little wet down there and people are doing 75mph on Route 80...

Funny if it were shaped like a scythe.

Snow's still holding on here, so far...

You know Randy and JB were at Okemo, right?

No CATS went up to chase points today? http://www.nyssra.org/

Ha...educate a few brain cells...kill a few brain cells... Oh, and Montage was great from 4 to about 6:30pm...Boomer and Cannonball are open and there was sort of the best of both worlds, with about 1" of new snow on hardpack...but then the sleet started mixing in. Still snowing like crazy toward Tanglwood, though.
-
IDK why, but I always picture this place when you mention Happy Valley, Schif: And it's now SNOWING here like---as Doug Doug would say---a "MOFO"!

They are already canceling tonight's school events and a day off tomorrow is almost guaranteed...if the timing is right, this might be one of those crazy nights to be stranded at a local ski area. I'm gettin' psyched about tonight.

Yeah, Ty wears my stickers on her helmet...and I blew off tonight to Photoshop work junk. Another orange helmet at Montage? Yet another trend...
